3DS Streetpass Experiences

AGHH! I have been one piece away from completing the Rhythm Heaven puzzle for like four months now. Its not even a pink piece! I spend all of my coins on random pieces because no-one I street-pass with has it either, and it just gives me pieces to other puzzles.
I only need three more pieces to complete the Kid Icarus Uprising puzzle, and I swear I've gotten the same piece - next to one I need - four times. The ratio of new pieces is totally fucked.

I hit over 3000 Miis, but it stops there in terms of that. Once you get new Miis, other Miis from many months (or even a year) ago will be deleted if you don't tag them again. Currently at 6526 Tags. I still go to weekly Kid Icarus Meetups at Nintendo World Store on Fridays in NYC.

Can't wait for New York Comic Con in October!

I only need three more pieces to complete the Kid Icarus Uprising puzzle, and I swear I've gotten the same piece - next to one I need - four times. The ratio of new pieces is totally whacked.

When I checked the relative chance of getting a new Blue piece (any new Blue piece) compared to how many new pieces were actually gotten from every 50 bought pieces (i.e. every 100 coins), it tracked pretty closely to the real %. If you only have three Blue pieces missing from all your puzzles, and they're all on a single 40 piece puzzle, then it's a 3/32 chance (i.e. ~9% chance of getting one of those pieces). However if you have any Blue pieces missing from any other puzzles, it brings the percentage down.

Example:
Missing 3 total Blue pieces and all from one 40 piece puzzle => 9% chance of getting a new piece
Missing 3 total Blue pieces and all from two 40 piece puzzles => 5% chance of getting a new piece
Missing 3 total Blue pieces and all from three 40 piece puzzles => 3% chance of getting a new piece

Usually just waited until I had 300 coins before buying pieces to help reduce the frustration of getting another piece I already had. :lol

Just thought I'd check in and confirm that you are easily able to earn the gold key in secret quest with one level 7 Mii. i.e. If you just invested in an XL and are currently enjoying streetpassing yourself, you can have him beat in a few days, without spending any coins, and get to that room with the awesome hats. About to set off on my 5th treck through...

I've made this Excel file to keep track of my journeys through Find Mii II and the Secret Quest. Is it accurate? Others might find this useful if it is. I've listed the places without hats too, in case you want to track what your last route was.

Uh, I'm pretty darn sure that groups cannot crit. Period. (Making pink magic on groups a TERRIBLE idea)

Also, Enzo, you can hire up to three people you've streetpassed before every time you go in, so wandering heroes a less useful.

Also also, you'll need to beat the Secret Quest TEN times (roughly) to get all of the hats.
Oh my. But I still have to complete old vanilla Find Mii II three times over to get all the hats from there, right?

Because I'm looking at this and this and realizing they're different maps and that when I finish Find Mii II I might not want to jump straight into the Secret Quest, and would want to just complete everything in vanilla Find Mii II first.

I just got the Top Hat from doing Find Mii II and taking the upper route the first time.

Find Mii II Secret Quest is a longer battle, too. Once it was opened for me, didn't head back to regular Find Mii II until after getting all the hats in Find Mii II Secret Quest. Find Mii II seemed pretty short after that. :lol

Has anyone read anything about Puzzle Swap screwing you if you change the date on your 3DS to earn more play coins in a day? I've been using my launch 3DS to farm pieces to feed over to my XL, but I haven't got a new piece in ages! I might stop...

Did that for thousands of coins, and as said above, the new puzzle pieces seemed to come at the right statistical rate. Didn't try massive resetting of one 3DS over and over again, though.

Go near a McDonalds. Then I got one piece of the Big Mac puzzle (my gf as well on her 3ds.) After that it was just via streetpass (with other JP 3ds systems) that I collected the rest of the pieces.

I was going by the McDonalds to get the special daily download present for DQM: Terry and that's when the Big Mac puzzle piece showed up.

I think that ended a couple months ago, though. So if they didn't get it, then too late.

I live in Japan with a Japanese 3DS, and many people I street pass have a puzzle that I cannot get. I think it's inbetween Oni tore (鬼トレ) and NSMB2. It says to wait for a mail to come.

Any ideas?

Also, curious how people are doing with regions. I have about 30 Japanese prefectures done.

edit: wow, the post directly before mine answers my question. bad timing.

Nearly finished with Find Mii.. four more hats.. and a couple more playthroughs to finish it. Under 30 puzzle pieces total again (Kirby + Mario), which will be finished by the end of September. I hope we receive an update for Find Mii III and more puzzles, or I might actually miss all my streetpassing.

Hi5.

Edit: I recently ran into a friend who has a Japanese 3DS and streetpassed them. They had two full puzzles that I can't access or see, what's up with that?

Fire Emblem and McDonald's (see above), probably.

When do these groups meet up?

Man, it's good to be back at my university. Getting so many streetpasses every day now. Finally finished the Rhythm Heaven and Donkey Kong puzzles.

So many. Any others that NA missed earlier on? I'm surprised MonHun didn't receive one in Japan.

According to the Nintendo Wiki, there's only four Japan-exclusive puzzles.
Fire Emblem Awakening and Oni Training/Brain Age: Concentration Training are the Nintendo-based ones (we'll likely get these two then they come out stateside, Brain Age is set for December and Fire Emblem for next year). McDonalds and some airline (ANAでDS, thank you Ctrl+C) are the promotional tie-in ones.

Ah!!! I didn't know there was a special puzzle for ANA! I just used ANA in September when I flew back to the U.S.! Unfortunately they only have it available at 3 airports in Japan (Haneda in Tokyo, Shin-Chitose in Hokkaido and Naha in Okinawa.)
I flew from Central Air in Nagoya to Narita in Chiba (close to Tokyo) and then to San Francisco and back, so no luck for me.

The picture was mine. I was pretty sure the McDonalds one had to still be going on as I just got my first piece from them at the beginning of last month.

I have 44 of them done, I need 3 more to have all of Japan.

I know this was a month ago, but I ended up getting like 600 lives in 3D Land from Otakon. The messed up part was that I didn't even know I was supposed to be using Mii Plaza until the last day. The whole time there I was wondering "what the hell is this RPG everyone's playing with all the Miis?"

Know the routes, so you don't end up wasting coins on recruiting. Double magic with level 7s (especially red) is good early on in Secret Quest, because it will OHKO everything including enemies hiding behind dual coloured shields. But later if you're no longer OHKOing monsters with the magic, it's better to just do a group attack because of the critical chance, even if the magic output is better (ie; 8,8,8,8 vs 40, I'd rather take the chance on the crit).

For the final fights, where you're just hacking away. Bringing two level 7s per usual and two wandering Miis is great; group attack with the level 7s and then potion of valour to bring them back with one of the wandering Miis. Group attack again, then potion of valour with the other wandering Mii to bring all three of the previous back. You don't want more than two wandering heroes, or you could accidently bring back a wandering hero over your level 7. You can do this as long as you can afford it. And it's far cheaper than buying level 7 Miis.

Thankfully, we're a three 3DS household and Toronto is a great spot for passing too. So I don't really worry about spending coins. ;)
Just reading this again, how do I calculate combo magic damage? I know sword damage is simply team level x # of hits. Or at least I think that's right.

Finally got a streetpass hit from someone in a different country! New Zealand, but sadly it doesn't have a map. Do they ever add more maps? It can't be much effort to create maps for countries.

I knew these numbers will be silly compared to PAX, but I got 477 StreetPass tags at AnimeFest this weekend.

My mistake was going home each night, I should have pitched in for a room with my friends and just made it a thing.

Next year, I suppose. :)

I've noticed a definite uptick in Streetpass activity in the Midlands (England). I went for months carrying my 3DS around Wolverhampton with zero activity, but I've been consistently getting at least 2-3 every time I go out since July.

Interestingly, I haven't had a single NSMB2 tag yet; they're all playing Kingdom Hearts.

Went to the Olympic Park yesterday for the first time (all the London 2012 Olympic/Paralympic events I've seen have been at other venues so far) to see athletics at the Olympic Stadium and got 46 streetpass hits, maxing out at 10 four times. Got loads of Mario Kart, Dead or Alive and Mario & Sonic free download app thingy, game specific hits as well.

That's the second highest amount of hits I've ever had in one period, though it is far behind my current record, which was the London Zelda Symphony in October (133 hits iirc).

Ugh! How the hell do i get the second key on the secret quest? You know, for the locked area in the low right corner.
it maddens me!

3DS seems to be picking up, had 8 streetpasses from a short trip to the city center. I also passed this Japanese dude, not only did he have all the puzzles finished, he also had 2 I couldn't get (I suppose Oni Training and Fire Emblem) - raaaaage.

edit:
Oh and he was playing Calciobit - some guys have all the luck

I worked at a high school of 1,400 1,600 students yesterday. I walked around the entire building multiple times. Only got one streetpass.

3DS not popular among high schoolers confirmed.

High schoolers don't have that many free periods. College students have time to kill, so you'll tend to get more hits. I really need to start walking around with my 3DS again, so close to beating Streetpass Quest II.

Most of the time when I bring it with me I don't use it. It's bring it only to get steps and streetpasses.

I did get a few while I was still in college, but that was only for a few months after it was released.

FAKE EDIT: The school actually has 1,600.

No, any application that is 10/10 will not collect any more data until the queue is cleared.

Different applications can have different queue sizes (for example, Theatrhythm has a queue size of 30).
Theatrhythm's limit is twenty-four. :)

Anyway, what I want to know is that if MY game's queue is full, will somebody else get my data or is it always a one to one trade?

If you're wondering about numbers for PAX... I'm using a 3DS XL, and before heading to Seattle, I couldn't find a single person on my daily routine to street pass with.

Starting at 0, I'm now at 724 tags, with 632 people. whoo! I completed Puzzle Swap (18 puzzles), I completed Find Mii twice, and I'm near the final boss of both Find Mii (third playthrough), and Find Mii 2 (first playthrough).

Also, I have my ProfiCards section completely full in Theatrhythm (99 cards).

Not a bad weekend :D, but it's going to be a while before I get anymore :/

Same happened to me after Comic Con, not many hits nowadays.

I've wondered this too. I would think it would have tobe one to one, otherwise you could meet a guy every day who's full, and you will be able to rank him, and have him be at level 7 for you while he would never have even seen you.
