It's much better with Ernie laughing.

Yep. Watch the 4.01 opening. He almost talks himself out of his job because of his appreciation for Walt's product.

Wish someone on reddit would put together all the callbacks we had in this episode. It was pretty cool.

I think it'll only go downhill from here on. Especially for Walt.

They listed most of them on the official podcast.

The scenes where Hank seems to think something's up--the first Walt Whitman scene, "right under my nose"--are supposed to be more like the "DENTAL PLAN! Lisa needs braces!" gag in The Simpsons. He's almost but not quite putting it together and it never rises to his conscious mind.

I think the scene from Bullet Points was re-shot for the finale. It doesn't match the way Hank says in the finale.

Yep. The guy Hank was so desperately looking for was right there the whole time, and Hank wasn't detached enough from Walt to get a proper perspective.

Haha great analogy.

I really liked the episode. Not as explosive as I figured it would be, but then again it wasn't really a season finale: it's basically halftime, and sets the second half up very well.

I've criticized the show for having lazy, convenient writing before but I guess I can buy Walt leaving the book in the bathroom for this long.

Remember how the first half of Season 4 was. If they keep it up, the second half of Season 5 will be extremely tense. First half of 5 had a lot more than first half of 4.

Lydia is kinda attractive in some weird way. It's mostly her voice. Almost Bob Ross like in the way it gets the hairs on my arms and neck to rise up.

Good finale to the season. We kinda knew Hank would find it on the toilet once they showed the book early in the episode. Not a big deal. It makes sense that it would be bathroom reading for Walt. He probably didn't remember the note on the first page.

Next season should be pretty wild. All that money and now Hank breathing down his neck. I anticipate Walt taking some seriously drastic measures going forward. It'll be interesting to see where Jesse goes in the story, considering he's now deathly afraid of Walt. PEACE.

God that prison montage....dat cinematography....

can't wait to hear them talk about how they made that all work on the podcast this week...when does it hit itunes?

So can someone give me a quick recap of how Walt got his hands on the book?

If I remember correctly, Hank and his boys recovered it from Gale's apartment?
And a few seasons back, Walt snagged it from Hank's bedside, when he was going through evidence?

Anyone to pinpoint the exact Season and Episode of Hank's flashback "You got me.. hehe!" ?

I don't understand why people love season 4 of the Wire so much. It's the best show ever made imo overall but I couldn't really get into S4 (compared to the other seasons, the season itself is still god-tier compared to other shows obviously).

Prezbo and the whole school mechanic is what made the season for me.

Would be 100 if not for one moron. There's always got to be one moron.

Gat damn, didn't know that.

But Season 5's writing has been phenomenal imo, I'd say Season 4's plot was a lot more interesting and engaging. What I love is how each Season feels a bit different in its own way. I expect Season 5 part 2 to have the same feel, since this is still the same season, and we're on like a 10 month intermission. Lol.

I'm pretty sure no one really has a clue how part 2 will go down, but I'm betting we'll be able to guess if we pick up on the foreshadowing, reoccurring themes, and subtle hints that the writers toss us each season.

EDIT: I also love how this episode, made that episode in season 4 better(where Walt and Hank make that exchange of lines). I often find that some episodes will make past episodes even better.

You're referring to Gale's lab book which was dedicated to Walt Whitman.

This book is "Leaves of Grass", a poetry book by Walt Whitman. Gale gave it to Walt in Season 3, "Sunset".

Hello

What a masterfully directed episode. I watched it this morning and the tension in that last scene by the pool made me literally sick all day.
Oh my god. This.

I was thinking, maybe Walt Jr. will be shot, or he'll drop Holly into the pool, or a hit on Walt will happen and will kill Skyler or Marie.

It was fucking tense.

My hands where literally on my head when Hank was in the bathroom, cause there was no way they where going to show Hank shitting unless some MAJOR shit (sorry for pun) was going to go down!

These Breaking Bad guys have some sly humor. Hank shitting in the bathroom scene was a metaphor for the shit that was about to go down.

At least the shit didn't hit the fan.
