If only it had a Thragtusk style "anytime it leaves the battlefield" trigger.

Do we think that whatever Delver morphs into post-rotation will use Unsummon in place of Snag?

The thing that makes snag way better is that 1 life. The deck is aggressive enough to want as much damage as possible. Simply unsummon will probably not be enough tempo for the aggro styled Delver that we know today. The loss of probe, ponder and leak also seal the deal

Cause it's close to irellevant right now anyway due to Cavern.

It's certainly not as powerful but it's no where near irrelevant. Regardless the current popular incarnations of Delver are going to be too gutted.

Mizzium Mortars at 3 bucks a piece seems really good, banking on this being a premier removal spell for a while. Pre-ordered a playset and two Isperia's at 4 a piece, figured she might be the new Consecrated Sphinx. Wish I could've jumped on Jace @ 20.

Took a jar of coins to Walmart and came up with $25 dollars. Bought a M13 Starter Deck (with two boosters) and three more M13 boosters and now I am rolling in new cards to play with!

I'm not high on Mortars. It's good, but it's still Flame Slash.

Isperia's a Commander card. Foils will be monstrous.

At worst it's a two mana Flame Slash but at best it's another one-sided board wipe. I'm not dropping 50 a piece on Bonfires so it'll be the next best thing for me. I have a feeling UR Delver will be decent enough initially to be worth a 12 dollar investment on a playset.

Isperia is pretty good as a Commander but Azorius Control may wind up being good. Don't think she'll ever drop below 4 a pop during her time in standard but has a decent chance of rising beyond that.

At worst, Mortars will be a card for a post rotation RDW, although with what we know already, i don't see how RDW can be a deck post rotation.

I think 'Delver' type decks won't have Delver any more because of the lack of cantrips. I can see UWr decks based around Geist of Saint Traft, Snapcasters, Restoration Angels and the UW Charm with some red removal. A really efficient Detain creature will probably push it over the edge.

Yeah, I'm starting to get the feeling that you'll need to move to a more mid-rangy feel to the deck. Geist/Delver may just not be getting enough support.

Actually it would be just like the U/W Modern deck from the Player's Championship but with lower card quality in the counters + removal.

How would it be a card for RDW? It's way too mana intensive to have any value with that deck. The mortars are just awful, they're way too pricey, it's a very very poorman's bonfire but that's about it.

I feel the only benefit to Isperia is the higher attack power, I'd rather pay the 1 mana extra and use drogskol reaver.

So, what was last months Magic Players reward thingy for online?

Maybe that's where I got the Shards Of Alara Block foil booster pack and a Ancient Ziggurat foil land from...Haven't been on in awhile and after I updated last night the pack and land were in my collection.

Its probably a better burn spell at 2 than Searing Spear is. It certanly has more upside than spear, for sure. Burn post rotation is putrid- Pillar of Flame is the "best" burn spell left once Incinerate, Galvanic Blast, and Gut Shot leave us.

Then again, while RDW is really not a deck right now, its pretty much completely gone post rotation

Chandra's Phoenix
Shrine of Burning Rage
Stormblood Berserk
Koth of the Hammer
Grim Lavamancer
Volt Charge
Arc Trail

All gone

Urgh Geist of Saint Traft cost nearly 30 tickets on MTGO. Was going to see if I could get in on some staples before RtR but I'm not willing to go that high, guess I won't be playing a UW deck.

Eh, it's instant speed and can't hit players. I'd rather have the versatility of searing spear mainboard than that. It's just a shitty flame slash. I don't see much the one point of damage will matter with thus far.

I'm going to miss shrine more than any other "red" card, I think

I'm not gonna miss it. Card was a bitch to deal with if you were black or certain colors.

4 damage kills Restoration Angel (and Isperia actually).
And I think you are vastly underestimating how good doing two quite different things on a single card is. Bonfire can be a dead draw, especially in slower decks that aren't beating down the whole time. A two mana removal spell is pretty much always useful, for killing birds early on or bigger threats later on. If they only have one 4 toughness creature out, Mortars is actually loads better than Bonfire. It's also Snapcasterable.

You should read Patrick Chapin's latest SCG article if you have premium, he covers it in there.

What green spells that give +x/+x are there in standard? I know there is Titanic Growth, any thing else?

Has Giant Growth been reprinted? I have a bunch of those but they are old heh.

It's also not instant speed and is seriously a crappy flame slash. I'm not saying it's terrible by any stretch but I don't think it's better than pillar or searing spear except maybe a sideboard card. Same with mortars, just because they can be flashbacked with snaps still does not make it better than bonfire. It's still absurd to "overload" and again doesn't hit the player. I'm not sure how it's any less useful than searing spear for killing birds and early threats. Flame slash saw limited play and that was a better card, I'm just don't agree it's better.

And I don't pay for SCG stuff, I don't like paying for articles like that. :/

Do you literally mean to +x/+x or just any pump spell? I think last print of giant growth was in M11, it rotated out with zendikar stuff.

Take that, Flashback!

My poor burning Vengeance deck :(

MTGO beta client feels weird because I no longer get audio cues as to which phase it is. My first game consisted of me skipping like 3 main1 and 3 combat steps lol.

Also, everything seems to be hidden away in even more awkward places. I can't even sort by creature type anymore. Disappoint.

Just downloaded it and am giving it a poke, and I think it seems ok so far. Lots of added features. I'm going to have to find where the notifications are though, I don't need a popup telling me that Cardbot5 has logged in.

And that Dryad is just dumb. Graveyard hosing has almost creeped as much as mana fixing.

Mutagenic growth is around for another month. Other than that, you've got Sorcery speed spells but nothing really instant.

Here's a link for what will be in standard when the set rotates:

My favourite is Overrun but that's only standard for another month. Good thing the group I play with plays modern.

Any pump spell, I just didn't know the word for it. But thanks for the responses! I was thinking about updating my green/blue deck to standard format but not enough green pump spells to do it it looks like.

Titanic growth, Ranger's guile, mutagenic growth, revenge of the hunted, overrun, predatory rampage, and I think that's it that I can remember. Some are rotating though.

Doesn't feel that good overall but her ultimate seems like something fun to mess with.

I think that was July due to the 10th anniversary.

She seems like one where you'd pretty much never want to cast the Ultimate. Getting several Vindicates in a row is probably better. Though actually getting her to 7 shouldn't be hard unless the opponent has burn.

Wowowowow THANK GOD SHE AINT BLUE.

Vindicates (!!!) and she puts up a deathtouch wall to protect herself? This walker sounds sexy. I'm definitely interested to see her in use. I LIKE IT. She seems so powerful with that T5 Vindicate.

Oh you poor soul. How many things can you possibly be wrong about?
