Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

Man, what's going on?! My brother and I fucking loved Bubsy when we were young. I was devastated when Jeff ripped on it in his labour day sesh. I thought it was really well regarded for some reason too, some of the quotes about it from Wikipedia definitely set me straight though.

Wikipedia says there was a heap of hype for it before release because it was marketed as a Sonic/Mario killer. I can only speak for myself about its popularly, but the reason I bought it was because they used to play it on a really awesome kids gameshow in Australia called 'Amazing'. It was used interchangeably with games like Mario Kart and SMB which I both loved so I went out and bought Bubsy as well.

You don't need other people to vinidicate your love for Bubsy. Cherish your Bubsy love and be proud :)

Ah yeah forgot it they did the same with the last ones.
Man, sucks, I want my subscription :/

I find the subscriptions are not time sensitive at all. get it after the CC stuff is done on your end and you can catch up with whatever material they've produced in the interim.

Oh I know, my point was more that I was under the impression it was really fondly remembered and to hear Jeff (and then a few Gaffers) rip on it just made me do a double take. I replayed Bubsy not that long ago and still loved it, so don't worry, I'm in no danger of being swayed :).

Jeff seemed actually somewhat angry about the Rooster Teeth thing, at least near the end.

Can't blame him though. Shit is stupid, if Rooster Teeth actually cares.

More so just standing up for Giantbomb I think. He takes pride in the site and the community, so Rooster Teeth basically saying "Haha our community is bigger" is a big enough reason for him to feel the need to defend. And he's right, they don't do rallying calls to the Giantbomb community to vote on ~~*PoPuLaRiTy PoLLs~~* because who gives a shit honestly?

I don't think it was like that at all. Rooster Teeth probably said it in jest which is how I took Jeff's rebuttal. For all of the hilarious Polygon stuff the guys posted, I think Arthur Gies was in attendance at the GB panel. I think a lot of fans take things way more serious than the actual content creators. It's the same way with music, film, and any other art form.

It seemed in jest at first, but not near the end. I don't listen to Rooster Teeth though, so I don't know the context in which they said it. I could see it going either way.

Watching the panel, every year the Q&A is soul crushing. I know some people get nervous speaking in public, or meeting 'celebrities', but if you know you are that kind of person, don't get up to ask a question.

This year was much better than previous ones. Mostly because Jeff was ready to choke a bitch for their inadequacies. "Are you having a stroke?"

Or write your question down beforehand and just read it out.

The panel was good, save the cards against humanity stuff, the guy who thought he was being funny by shoving a donut into his mouth before asking a stupid giantbomb meme question, and the guy with the headphones and backpack who didn't even ask a question. the guy asking the question to jeff about his p.o.s. website or whatever was worth it just for jeff's reaction and slamming of it.

running into an e-celeb at pax and not straight getting up in their face is weird to you?
are you under the impression the gb crew is attending an open-to-the-public event with the express interest of not meeting people?

2 years ago i went and straight walked up to every one of those motherfuckers, shook their hand, looked them in the eye, and engaged in some small conversation. you know, like a human being.

It is possible they did not enjoy your company.

I distinctly remember the very different views Jeff had on Transformers WFC compared to Arthur since I still listened to Rebel FM back then. So it was funny to hear him bring up the new Transformers game where it sounds like they are in totally opposite camps once again.

They are there to do journalism whilst meeting their fans, they have stated this multiple times. What is your point exactly?

Some people would be concerned about annoying them. If GB fans in general are like the ones who ask questions at the panel or call into their live shows, I can imagine that being the case pretty often.

I'm with Jeff on this one. So boring. :/

Yeah, you really should said hi to him. :) The GB guys are really approachable, nice guys.

I met Jeff at California Extreme this year -- he was checkin' out a Rush 2049 cabinet and I introduced myself and chatted with him for a minute or two. Extremely nice dude. They are just people like you or I. Saw Ryan and Drew there too but didn't get the chance to say "what up".

Would you do this to a stranger on a street? You dont know these guys, you just think you do cos youve seen some of their vids. You were definitely enjoying talking to them alot more than they were to you. So why are you giving this guy s for not doing this creepyness.

...what?

Nothing in the upcoming section for tomorrow? Starting to feel a bit disappointed in Giant Bomb's content output. Hopefully it picks up with the holidays.

While I agree that most questions asked are extremely awkward, it can be viewed that many of these people are introverted and extremely nervous being in front of a huge crowd so what they want to say comes across as awkward or weird. Or maybe they have different thoughts of societal norms? Whatever the case may be I'm sure the GB crew always respects and loves when a fan comes up to say hi and have a few words. They have stated numerous times they love to come and interact with the fans, while doing gaming journalism of course. :D

Ouch at the FF guy, Jeff went in a bit.
