Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

Which is why I'm saying hopefully they will announce more content and incentives to subscribe during BLLSL and when the site redesign is done. Redesigning a website, especially one that hosts as many content as giantbomb does, or one that host a big wiki-ish game database, is not an easy task at all, trust me. If they want to fold them into gamespot they wouldn't be wasting their time on it, so that shows that they are given a chance.

Giantbomb itself probably still gets a lot of unique viewers.

Going downhill. Victims of past high standards I suppose. Even though 2012 has possibly been their leanest year since the first, premium or not premium they've still produced the most/best original content than any similar site out there.

Do we know about any new features that will come with the redesign?

Something that's really shitty about the way it currently works is you can look up a developer, and it lists the games they worked on, but not their role in the development, that's pretty worthless.

If you want to look up Clint Hocking for example, you'll get SC/SC:PT/SC:CT/FC2, but no indication of how his role in those games differed.

Even sub-par Giant Bomb is great, but there's no avoiding the fact that they need to get back to the point they were at when they were with WM or people are going to be pissed.

Once you get to a certain standard you shouldn't slip back, they have in terms of the number of stuff they're producing and (to an extent) the quality of said productions.

If BLS3 doesn't herald the return of the standard level of content of old, including Load Our Last Save and Random PC Game, then I'm not renewing. As of right now I get more out of XBox Live Gold than I do Giant Bomb Premium.

That said I'm pretty upbeat that BLS3 will not disappoint.

Ouch haha.

Seems TNT is live, dunno for how long. It was a surprise to me because I completely forgot today was Thursday :lol

On consoles yeah, I'd agree.

Some arcade rhythm games pound my ass.

This TNT really makes me want to go back to DJ hero. Loved the first but never got the second.

Dj hero was a fun breath of fresh air to the genre, surprisingly from Activison of all companies. It bombed as hard as anything though, so I was able to get the dj hero 2 bundle for $60 not long after release.

It would be nice if they'd just fire up an old game on the PC or really any console and just play and BS and have fun. Multimedia Celebrity Poker and Ripper were so awesome. Or Breaking Brad.

I think it would be cool to see Vinny and Patrick do a run through of Deus Ex. Note I did not use the word 'Endurance'.

Oh I know, saw some bundles for cheap.

I actually don't mind then being folded into Gamespot as long as they're allowed to make the same sort of content. Gamespot was where most of them all came from anyways.

Looks like they saved all their non-PAX content for Friday.

An odd strategy, but at least we're getting more than a half hour of video content this week. It was looking pretty dire there for a while!

Jeff should post a video of all his weird Japanese shit he's bought over the years.

Like the Famicom Twin and Famicom disk Metroid

I'm not gonna lie, the podcast alone is worth $35 a year. That's 2-3 hours a week, so at least 100 hours a year, and most likely closer to 150+. Well worth it.

I have no idea how complicated running a livestream actually is, so I'm gonna say no. Frankly I think the looping American flag on Jeff's livestream was pretty impressive.

Anyone think it's a bit embarrassing that they STILL continually have audio/video problems like sync issues?

It's not really something you can prepare for ahead of time. You've got to deal with it as it comes up. It'd be a different story if there was an issue and the entire stream was unwatchable or they didn't bother to fix it, but if there are any problems they're usually dealt with super fast.

I certainly would like to see those problems go away, that's why I often only watch the recorded stuff of their live streams, as they have those things fixed.

edit: TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!

9/7 3:00 PM Quick Look EX: Borderlands 2
9/7 8:00 PM Quick Look: Mark of the Ninja Live!
