EDIT: ^lol

This is days late and probably already stated but one theory across the net is that walt can automatically deny that gale gave him the book....People are saying Gretchen could have gotten him the book since she was apparently a walt whitman fan?

her initials are GB Gretchen Black.....so crisis adverted?

The surname is Schwartz. The handwriting could also be matched or they could just ask her. It would be an incredibly flimsy excuse.

Felt the need to post this for the 1000 time

beautiful.

I didn't understand this scene. He changed clothes and teleported in the blink of an eye? or if it was just a fancy transition from one scene to another, then it seems very unlikely that the same exact couch would be in the same exact position in two different places! Really had to suspend my disbelief for that one.

Wut?

This scene was meant to sow that Hank knows all along and even goes as far as to help Walt cook inside his home.

People are speculating her maiden name could be Black. Which I think would be dumb.

As Air Zombie Meat said, her initials are not GB. Further, it makes no sense at all for Walt to have a present from her considering their current relationship. And whether or not Hank has seen proof of a connection between Walt and Gale is irrelevant anyhow; what matters is that he realizes that there's a very real possibility that Walt is Heisenberg.

It's a speculated maiden name theory circulating, not her current name.

Thats just a theory there are a few good ones on A.V. club about how next season will go but I don't feel like digging through them all.

No.
it works well with the yin yang symbolism shiz vince gilligan's on. mirrored events involving the two major members of the each side of the law/family/intelligence/morality.

It's a bit weird to me when people dismiss the idea of fairly over-the-top symbolism in Breaking Bad as being unintentional. As unimportant in the grand scheme, sure. But Vince Gilligan is obviously a pretty big fan of it and Breaking Bad is kind of rife with it in both big and little ways.

It's not like he's trying to be Lynchian-obscure with it, it doesn't take the place of narrative, but BB would be a very different show without it.

the gus/teddybear yin yang ish. the paintings showing up near the beginning of walt's buttfucking of his family and attempt to repair the damage. that fly episode.

i don't think vince consciously putting walt and hank through complementary yet opposite trials is all that far fetched. the show has always been leading up to their confrontation.

If there was one thing I consistently hear about Vince Gilligan from all the staff and crew and actors it's that he is absolutely obsessed with details, every little one. Everything is intentional.

This show would be really short if Walt wasn't winning until the very end.

The guy is a genius, but I don't think every little thing he put in there is intentional. He's throwing that out because it's fun for him to get all credit when fans are the ones to connect small details from all the seasons.

But the guy is a genius.

- Sepinwall Interview: 'Breaking Bad' creator Vince Gilligan on poetry books, time jumps and the end for Walter White
There have been times when Vince Gilligan has known from the start of a "Breaking Bad" season exactly how it was going to end (the plane crash of season 2), and other times where he and his fellow writers have had to improvise (they realized midway through season 3 that the Cousins were too dangerous to plausibly hang around forever, and as a result killed them off and made Gus into the new big bad).

As Gilligan and his writing staff have begun work on the final 8 episodes of the AMC drama, they're taking an approach that's a little from Column A and a little from Column B, where they have an idea of what's going to be happen but are open to changing that idea if something better comes along.

I spoke with Gilligan about planning the ending of the series, and also about several of the key developments of the first half of this final season, up through the final images of Sunday's mid-season finale.

In one final look back at this half-season, we've decided to strip out all the dialogue and just focus on the show's non-musical soundtrack. Consider it a video recap, sans words.

are you going to any of the games? when you have your head your between two brazilian women shaking their godly bottoms, think of me.

:lol

I hope so. I'm already picturing me and Eggman in a match, drinking beer and hitting on girls.

that rolling stone interview is very insightful, and a very interesting read. thanks as always, cornballer!

You've said that Walt really got out of his meth operation at the end of the episode – but do you know how he did it?
We are oddly still working that out. In my mind, Walt is out, but the exact specifics of how he extricated himself – basically, the boss coming in one day in to the boardroom, so to speak, and saying to his inner circle, "Well, this is it for me. I'm retiring." The specifics of that, so to speak, are something that's still a bit of a work in progress, and six writers and myself are back now in the room working out the final eight episodes.

lol: Vince Gilligan Answers Fan Questions (Part I)

Q: Will we ever see Walter White in his tighty-whities again? -- Lisa

A: Very possibly, but Bryan Cranston is a man who, for just the spare change in your pocket will most likely drop his pants if you ever run across him on the street. So even once the show ends, there's a great possibility of seeing Mr. Cranston in his underpants, even if he's not playing Walter White. [Laughs]
