Oh well missed it.

All they need to do is get rid of all those awful ads, but we all know that's never going to happen.

Thus the dashboard will suck for another year

That's just not how it works. And it is really not a big deal. If it irritating for you don't sign up in the first place. You know this going into the beta.

Why is it such a big deal if someone just acknowledges it sucks getting disconnected in the middle of a game?

Another year? Regardless of responsiveness in the next Xbox dashboard, ads aren't going anywhere, man. They make way too much money to let that go now.
 
When is the official update going to be available for everyone? Maybe there is a fix there.

Also can you uninstall this update and go to the old dashboard?

Around October/November.


No you can not uninstall dashboard updates. They burn a fuse every time you update the dashboard to make it impossible to downgrade the dashboard version (though there are still ways of course).
 
My recommendations are all based on demos I tried and did not purchase the full games for. I hope they fix that. I also hope it somehow skews toward the games you've played most recently, I don't need horse armor for oblivion when I have last played it in 2008 and got all the achievements.

Oh, and I tried happy wars. I don't know what that genre is, but it doesn't do much for me.
 
IE is an app. I don't remember if its automatically downloaded after you install the dashboard beta or if you need to explicitly go to your apps to download it but if you don't have it yet try looking under your apps.

Hmm, thats a good question. I remember there being a HUGE add for it, but maybe i had to download it. Go see the Apps section or just wait 1 or 2 days if you just got into the beta and see if the option appears.

I tried it yesterday. Doesn't seem like the kind of game that's for me, though. I also couldn't connect to the multiplayer beyond seeing people on a list, not sure if that's just a hitch on my end or what.
 
I am trying to get to the official beta forums to see if my mic is fixable in this update but I cant acess it because I have to wait a couple of days to even access the forums to provide some feedback. Jesus christ microsoft seriously?

Nope,just got the update and I have no problem so far...I was kinda expecting a little more I guess,but everything runs fine...if people dont like the current dashboard and the set-up,with the small green boxes,they will probably hate this new dashboard because there's a whole lot more of them hehe...IE works really well also(looks good on my big screen HDTV).

Nope, turned on my 360 for the first time in a few weeks and was surprised at how much they cleaned things up. Still a ton of advertisements but getting what you want is fast and simple. The marketplace was an absolute mess before.

I must be missing something. You have to use search to find exactly what you want. You used to be able to search titles A-Z, or look under popular, recently added, games on demand, arcade, etc... Now, you either use search or look A-Z under arcade or games on demand and maybe a couple other categories. So what if i want to find a specific game without using search. It was much easier just pushing the A button going through the A-Z than having to type out a games title in search. I haven't looked into it A LOT though so i might be missing something :S

I agree with you, except for the store. Deals don't show up in the store anymore for me, so I have to find them on my own.

Because XBLA and Games on Demand are better separated in the store, I think it's very easy to find the game I'm looking for.

Well, sure, deals could be easier to find. But everything else seems much easier to find and browse.

I rely on the XBLA thread here to learn about the deals. :)
 
Deals definitely need to be easier to find. There's a decent sale on at the moment, but there's nothing about it on the dashboard and the Sales & Specials app lists just 6 games, when there's way more games than that in the sale along with other content. Weekly deals should be advertised right there on the dashboard, then clicking the tile takes you to the list of content. It benefits them because it benefits me as I'm more likely to buy stuff, so why can't they get it right? I can still find lists of sale items on GAF and what have you, but I shouldn't need to.

I'm really liking the new dashboard though. It's noticeably faster (and the most recent update sped things up even more for me) and it adds some nice new features. I think it looks better too.
 
has anyone had a game crash back to the dash? It's happened a couple of times now where I'm in a game (Gears 3) and it will just cut to black and go back to the dash. There's not message to go with it, it just seems to cut out.

You can get rid of them. It requires you to have your router block a certain IP and you'll never see an ad again. I blocked them because I felt I should not be getting ads for something I shell out $50 a year for.

You shell out $50 a year to look at the dashboard?
Hate to be the one to tell you this, but it doesn't cost any money to look at the dashboard. Free accounts can do it to.
 
Does the ad blocker method still only block 1 ad per page, one that says ADVERTISEMENT under it?
Seems hardly worth it.

Anyone having problems with ESPN3 App ? Its telling me that it can't detect my access though the connection but all my other devices(pc,ipad,) are good to go.

Yeah, I think I'd rather see an Axe body spray ad than a blank green square. The idle, wasted space would bother me just as much as an ad.
