The thing about comics is that to be a good artist and get noticed is to not just be good at drawing, but rather sequential storytelling. A lot of people can draw pinups and posed heroes, but if you really wanna practice the craft and show off your chops, do a simple comic story. Maybe a 9 panel page (a la Watchmen).
That being said, Rom the Space Knight would be pretty sweet lol

I really don't understand the small publishers and the amount of licensed books they put out. Maybe it's growing up in the 80s and 90s but I expect those books to suck outright and so therefore give them a wide berth. I don't know how much they sell but I doubt it's much, what's the point?
Same for those weird pseudo-furry elf books. I have a friend who reads a lot of them and it blows my mind. I don't understand the audience for them or how the pubs are making any money.
and then what concerns me is that, if good stuff was coming out of these little pubs, would i even hear about it? And would I believe it if I heard it?

If you don't have Batman or Spiderman, you can do the next best thing and license a nostalgia property to draw those fans in.
The Shadow has always intrigued me, but I've never taken a chance on any of the past series. I went into this on the strength of Garth Ennis's previous works, and this is subtly similar; but it is not at all the phoned in Garth Ennis paint-by-numbers stuff you can expect from a lot of his Blood Kill War stuff. Jennifer Blood being a great example of paint-by-numbers Ennis.
Seriously, more people ought to be reading this.
Art is that sort of Steve Epting style. Not my cup of tea visually, but it does the job and the artist does produce an amazing page every now and then.

If it's true that Cyclops kills Prof. X I'm gonna be pissed. Xavier was out of the picture for a long, long time and they bring him back just to kill him? Because someone big needed to be killed for the series to have any impact? C'mon Marvel...he could contribute to the new Marvel landscape and I would love to see him involved with the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning (but not as the headmaster).

Cyclops in X-Force wouldnt be half bad, if only to see him in a White, Red and Black uniform, but leading i just dont see it happening.

Imagine Sopranos on a modern day reservation with a punk sheriff and a murder mystery and heavy heavy The Wire and some spagetti western inspirations as well. And I said in the other thread, lots of cute chicks.
The book reads like an HBO series. If you like HBO's modern day dramas, this is all about you and you need to get the fuck down and read it. Even if you don't like reading non-sci-fi/fantasy down-to-earth real comics.
