NEXT WEEK IN GAMES MAGAZINES

I just realised that we might have to actually start paying attention every time Kamiya trolls us now :T

I've been thinking the same thing.

Nintendo is in the position right now to dominate the Japanese console gaming market. In the next year alone it'll have a NSMB game, a Monster Hunter game and a Dragon Quest game. Considering that line up, and the fact that it's going to have about a year head start over its competition... it would probably be in a Japanese dev's best interest to support the Wii U.

Funny, I predicted that exact thing and the return of 3rd-party exclusives would come to pass back in... like, MARCH or something? Got laughed out because APPARENTLY the game industry would NEVER do such a thing.

Funny how that word "never" always seems to get mis-used around here. ;)

Some people are going nuts, I mean, freaking death threats? What the hell.

It was one guy on Twitter. I wonder if that's going to become 'canon' now, how there were all these death threats and horrible shit said to Kamiya from across the Internet when in reality it was one idiot on Twitter. Duffy said it better than I can:

Has someone compiled a list of the freakouts in this thread? From what I can tell, there are about twenty times less freakouts than the people mocking them.

Wasn't there only one "death threat" too? Not to say the kid wasn't stupid, but to say that Kamiya is "getting death threats" seems incredibly exaggerated, like everything else.

I proposed a similar theory way back during the 01.net days. While I'm not as eloquent as a ShockingAlberto or Kajima post, I did ask whether or not this was Nintendo's strategy. The idea is for them to basically eat up/entice all the little/smaller guys with promising stuff on both sides of the world to have content to fall back on while they prepared their usual Mario/Zelda/Metroid/Kirby/Pokemon/Smash/Underutilized IP fare. They'd go "next-gen" enough with their console that these developers aren't overwhelmed when their only other prospects are behemoths in PS4/720 and try to stay competitive in terms of quantity versus technicality.

Would be extremely cool to see this go down imo.

if nintendo actually promotes this, i'll be way impressed. i can't even imagine them pushing it hard.

As a self-published near-launch title? They'll be wanting to push all of those as hard as they can, I think. Early software sales are key for building a healthy platform.

One is too many, even if obviously just some rattled fan. As for the rest, you'll note you're preaching to the choir.

Seriously question. How much do people think B2 will sell?

Kind of tough to make a prediction now. Being early in the console's life could either be a blessing or a curse. It is a sequel to a critically acclaimed game, so that should help it, but it's impossible to know just how much all this butthurt will extend to actual sales.

Nintendo should pull out a Fatal Frame and buy the rights to the IP. hmmm

Even though she was an oversexualized character, Bayonetta is a wacky, fun and unique character that's a great addition to the Nintendo universe.

Are people still considering this a third-party exclusive, despite Nintendo footing the publishing bill, for some reason?

If Sega still own the Ip then it is. The game couldn't be made, no matter how much money they offered if Sega wasn't willing to allow the game to be made given it's their Ip.

Epic owns Gears of War. I'm pretty sure Heavy Rain is owned by Quantic Dream.

I don't consider those games to be third party exclusives.

Jeanne is a poor man's Bayonetta. She can stick to being the co-op tack-on.

I feel like replaying Bayonetta now. It was one of the few games that I started playing again as soon as I finished. So devilishly good.

Epic can take and turn Gears of War into a multiplatform title at any time they so choose and Microsoft can't do a thing to stop them.

So long as the IP is owned by a third party, and the third party choose to enter a deal to have a game be exclusive, it's still a 3rd Party exclusive.

Now if Nintendo did by co-rights to Bayo? Then sure, it would be first party, but until we get info like that it would still be Sega entering a contract and choosing to allow a non Nintendo owned Ip be exclusive to their platform-there for a 3rd Party Exclusive.
