I would be careful with Fake Iwata Asks. Nintex went kind of overboard with them and got warned by a mod to cut it out or he would be banned.

I never read Nintex Iwata Asks. Was it obvious they were fake? Because I can't see any rationale adult thinking that was real. It was funny as hell, but so obviously a joke. A good one mind you, but a joke.

ok for it to be platform exclusive for Sony or Microsoft, but nooooooo not Nintendo.
What? Who's saying this? I'm universally opposed to the idea of platform exclusives. Maybe some other people want other people to not enjoy games, but that's not the narrative of the entire debate. If I could, I'd play it all on my PC.

But, I digress. That's unrealistic. Mostly I'm just curious as to what they're going to do with the tablet controller for Bayonetta. I hope it's not much, to be honest.

It's probably annoying to a few who never wanted the machine, but considering they pulled it from the depths it's rather difficult to be mad. It's very cool of Nintendo to do this, and I hope it works out for all parties involved.

Sure, I hope so too.

I'm just wary about Nintendo's Localization/distribution, possible censoring in any way and, most importantly by far, I don't want Bayonetta's awesome core gameplay and its possible progression to be limited by hardware for another 6 years.

Yeah, localization is a bitch, that's something I really wish we didn't have to fear anymore, especially with digital markets but here we are, still dealing with this crap.

So then you and gamers were upset Bayonetta 1 was on 360 and not PC then?

Bayonetta was shown at the european nintendo direct (US too?). What does this say to you?
Also MadWorld wasn't censored in any way, same goes for Dead or Alive. Ninja Gaiden 3 Wii U version seems to be the most uncensored version out there.

It's limited by hardware no matter the year.

Every game series is.

If Square was making FFXV specifically for some 3.5 teraflop card instead of Orbis/Durango you'd see the game not hindered by the hardware.

As it stands until consoles literally become closed system PC's they will always be behind. This past generation the advances in tech have outstripped our ability to cool that tech in small cases. Until something changes... consoles are always going to limit the games. They might have a higher baseline that can be hit, but for the first generation... ever... we're looking at PC GPU's launching a year before with at least twice the effective capability of those going into Orbis or Durango.

WiiU will impose more limitations, but it's disingenuous to act like that's going to be any different on the other two.

I don't think censorship will be a problem. Remember, Nintendo allowed House Of The Dead: Overkill on the Wii - the sweariest game ever, and with a gross ending
involving a character literally returning to his dead, mutated mother's womb by crawling inside her.

You really worry about the game being censored?
I remember Madworld being way more gory than Bayonetta.
I also remember Manhunt 2 (the Dutch version) being the most goriest and controversial game ever. And you can get that version only on the Wii.
The sexyness of Bayo2 won't suffer from it being on a Nintendo console either.

When was the last time a game had to be censored because it was coming out on a Nintendo console?

Also if the core gameplay and everything changes then that's probably not because of Nintendo's doing. Platinum Games is still developing it and I really think that Nintendo just let's them do what they want to do if they have to.

its been posted.

Well, then I was too slow. Still, it need to spread. Fast and wide.

I bought a ps3 to play RE5. If they are big enough fans they will buy the console.
I bought a Wii to play TP. In fact, the original Bayonetta cost me like $110 because I imported it. For me, paying $350 to play the sequel isn't that big of a stretch.

Sex and gore are not the same regarding possible censorship/toning down, specially for US. Anyway I'm not saying it will happen.

And when I speak about hardware limitations I mean hardware very similar to the one we've had for 7 years already, for another 6 at least. And don't start with the "graphics are nothing without gameplay" because I'm not talking about graphics but about the gameplay. I would say the same if Kojima came out right now and said "hey guys we've canceled MGS:GZ and Project Ogre for consoles/PC and they're only going to come out on Vita, all our future games will only come out on Vita" even if I love my Vita it would pain me.

And this is, like my opinion, dudes ;)

Yea, but your opinion is built on faulty assumptions.

WiiU will have more limitations versus Orbis/Durango. Orbis/Durango will have limitations versus high end PC hardware.

If you want limitations to not exist get everyone to buy yearly GPU upgrades, and developers to only support the newest. Sure that might cause costs to skyrocket infinitely, and software support to be spotty, but at least limitations won't exist.

My point is. Next year consoles from MS and Sony will release, limitations will be lessened. But they will still be present. Hell for the first generation well... ever... high end PC GPU's will be able to run the same games as "powerhouse" consoles, but at higher resolutions (maybe significantly so) with higher precision effects, at a higher framerate.

Every console is limited in their lifespan. I have no problem with those limitations. In a few years time developers will be bitching about both Orbis and Durango. Not enough RAM, not enough shaders. Does that actually make the hardware weak?

In a purely technical sense yes.

Realistically? 2005 hardware with 512MB of RAM can still pull off stuff like Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls. We are well past the point where the limitations of outdated hardware define the visual capability of the software.

It can always get better. No matter what hardware software is running on. Does that mean the same thing it did a decade ago?

Since the topic has already slipped a bit to console limitations... does anyone think this might be the generation where game development costs on high-end consoles might actually be a limiting factor?

We got a lot of spiel about that when the Wii first came out (that devs could develop much more cheaply and thus would be a preferred development platform) but that turned out to be fairly bullocks. That said, development costs did skyrocket this gen and a lot of mid-range devs went under (with a lot of new small devs swarming to make small DD titles)

I can totally see P*'s switch to Wii U because of the costs of a Durango/Orbis devkit etc.
They 'could' stay at PS360, but at what cost? Both platforms aren't supported anymore in the future. Wii U will be for at least 4-6 years. Also gives less hardware limitations compared to them.

Yeah that was something. I was like what the...FUCK?

Funding this is a master stroke.

Nintendo really do know gaming! Do MS and Sony even value Bayonetta or recognise it's existance? It's just another low selling hardcore game to them.

This is the news that convinced me that Nintendo is serious about the U in Wii-U.

Sony recognised Bayonetta as far as making the patch for it to fix the framerate problems on PS3.

I would support this 100%

The guy gave you an answer and you dismissed it because you could not argue against it. Lol.
Besides this

I had a damn bug when i quite a game in the middle of a level, even though it auto saves it restarting me at the beginning of the level. Extremely annoying bug. And i hated the character Bayonetta. She was annoying. But apparently Bayonetta is perfect and beyond criticism because a sequel came to your preferred corporation. That´s such a pathetic attitude for you to have.

Bayonetta isnt perfect, but I love the game and WILL defend it. It has nothing to do with Nintendo I justl ove the whole crazy idea of it. I hated GOW and I didnt like DMC either. In fact I detest this entire genre of game. but Bayonetta felt different. It was fresh. It was quirky. It was sexy. It did so many things right. Im pretty sure it was a big part of the reason I have a 360. I never even beat the game, because Im just not skilled enough, but what I was able to play I enjoyed thoroughly.

Bayonetta is probably the only character in the history of ever that would be able to make that outfit likeable for me.

edit: omg bayonetta with an arm cannon weapon omgomgomgoifhgkjndm

See, here we have a legitimately excited true Bayonetta fan. Learn from this poster.

Obviously, I haven't really been following much Wii U news before this announcement, but has Nintendo openly said that all games will support the pro controller?

My biggest fear is the game is going to be casualized by that tablet, which would be a damn shame.

although if it was kept for inventor stuff, it wouldn't be too bad.

I dont think that is something you should worry about. Bayonetta might be enhanced by the tablet with inventory and such, but it wont be forced to play on the tablet. It could be bundled with a special pro-controller who knows? But I guarantee it wont be forcefed with casual friendly gameplay. Its not the kind of game that would benefit from it saleswise and even Nintendo realizes that.

The revival of Bayonetta 2 is one of the more interesting things to happen in this industry as of late, especially considering Nintendo's involvement. The negative reactions surrounding this surprising announcement leave me scratching my head, especially when B2 probably wouldn't exist in any other form anyway.

People complain when Nintendo is predictable, and people complain when they're not predictable. Can't win, ever.

This has always bothered me. Nintendo literally cannot win no matter what it does. There is an unfortunate stigma permanently attached to the name ever since the Sega days that it has to deal with. It will never satisfy everybody. When it does something positive people will just keep moving the goalposts.

Trend here indicates, its ok for it to be platform exclusive for Sony or Microsoft, but nooooooo not Nintendo. They have a capable console now, full HD and more powerful than the current competitors. Lets see what the developers vision and freedom of the platform will allow them to do. I can appreciate those that cant afford multiple console platforms, or rely on the charity of others (Bday or xmas gifts), but i want Nintendo to re-enter the arena of the major players. This deal, helps pave the way for more developers to follow and I hope many more do.

Exclusive, time exclusive or multi-platform, i just hope that developers take proper advantage of the hardware capabilities of the Wii U.

I agree with this. With the wii, OK I could see why developers didnt make things for it. It was literally a different tier of console. It was a lot of fun, but nobody could argue the vastness of the visual gap between SD and HD. Developers using HD assets may not have had the time or resources to reduce games enough to make them work with Wii, especially with such heavy emphasis on motion gaming. However, the wiiU is different. It is legitimately powerful enough to realize 99% of developers visions, and we really dont know the ceiling this console is capable of yet.
However, aside from outright disliking Nintendo there literally is no reason why the vast majority of games sold on Ps3/360 and soon Ps4/Xboxnext cannot be suitably ported to WiiU. The tablet is not as intrusive to traditional play as the motion controller was by design, and visually the gap will now be MUCH narrower, with shaders and effects being the main difference. Nintendo has pretty much leveled the playing field despite a weaker system. It will still be capable of rendering things on the level of current HD systems, which most people will agree already looks extremely close to realistic. I guess we will see if developers are true to their word, but seeing stuff like BLOps, Assassins creed, Bayonetta 2, real Madden on the console in the launch window holds great promise that even the western developers will pay more attention to the WiiU than they did the Wii.

That looks pretty true to the character. Great pose and I know GSC makes extremely nice quality figures (Most the figurines I own are GSC) so I know they will do a great job with it.

To be fair to MS and Sony, they don't have an image to build up of being "hardcore" friendly.

I bought a Sega CD to play Snatcher. I bought a Nintendo 64 to play Super Mario 64. I bought a PSP to play Crisis Core. I bought a PS3 to play Resident Evil 5. I bought a 360 to play (the real) Bayonetta. Everything else on those platforms was a delicious bonus. It's never a bad thing to add another piece of hardware to your collection, particularly if you love games, and there's barely a platform in existence that doesn't have worthy exclusives. Wii U will be no different.

Didn't Iwata say that he reads much of the stuff that's going on on Twitter?
I'm pretty sure he read the reactions from "fans" of the first game. You know, the ones with the death threats and all.

I saw a picture of him and other Nintendo employees watching the reactions for a Nintendo Direct live.

So, maybe.
Yup, that's why :p

Can you imagine the guy sitting in front of his PC, with other Nintendo employees checking out all the Twitter stuff? Miyamoto coming in and asking "how people are responding to the price and software?" Iwata: "Shigeru my friend, I've seen a lot during my time as NCL president, but seriously man... this is beyond anything I've ever seen. We just can't please people no matter what we do."

Miyamoto: "... ... so can I finish my prototype of Wii Music 2?"

Iwata: "Sure, why not. I don't care."

I imagine their faces to be pretty much the same as the ones of Eli Roth and Christoph Waltz when they discovered that Gay Fic about them :D

The thing that nobody really seems to be discussing here is how, aside from being on a new console that would have to be bought, nothing else would change about Bayonetta 2s appearance (and probably gameplay). It was originally designed for Ps3/360, so visually there wont be a downgrade. The pro controller will be very similar to the 360 controller/Ps3 controller. why did some people say they wanted it on Ps4/xboxnest when it wasnt likely to even make it to those systems in the first place? It was going to look very visually similar to Bayonetta to begin with and the wiiU will be able to output it in great HD quality. It was never designed to even be a next gen title.

Making a Bayonetta 2 for ps4/720, with Bayonetta 1 sales number, would probably have put Platinum out of business. This really is the best move for them. I can easily see them going the Monolith route and becoming Nintendo exclusive.

speaking of monolithsoft...even though its off topic oh my GOD if they make another RPg as beautiful as Xenoblade, but this time in full HD. It could look spectacular.

Ms now has..at least at my eyes...all that kinect bullshit has made me lost faith in them.

Gamers have got to understand that there is a gaming audience outside the hardcore and they deserve attention. the problem is that Wii overemphasized that market and the HD twins underemphasized it. Microsoft is doing well lately to appeal to that market but its not going to please everybody.

I can see Platinum Games feeling bad for those who won't be getting a Wii U and have a PS360 but I can see SEGA literally not giving a shit, seeing as they're not spending any money (whatever they'd spend would probably be minimal anyway), thanks to Nintendo. So they really have no need to give two shits about the backlash. :lol
