Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

Hng, I kinda want to hold out in case morrisons ends up having the cheapest price like they did with the 3DS. But I don't want to end up missing out and not having it on launch day.

How likely is it that stock will sell out in the UK like it has in the US? I'd imagine the demand for it is less here, but I'd also imagine the supply is less too.

Did they give you a reason?

nope. probably detected its the same address though?

We're getting in touch to advise you that your recent order from
has not been accepted through the Sainsbury's Entertainment website.

The order number affected is: xxxxxxx

well, it looks like I'll be getting the U from amazon.it

Black Premium pack + NintendoLand
http://www.amazon.it/dp/B009AINM4O/

343 euro = 277 £, free shipping to UK, while amazon.uk has it at 299£

games are more pricey at amazon.it, though, but I'm sure price will drop when we're approaching release date

Thanks for the heads up on these prices. Will have to make the choice between Nintendoland and ZombiU. I'm not ashamed to say I'm a glutton for Nintendo fanservice and the latest showing actually made me look forward to it. But having the Pro Controller packed in might be worth the extra money instead of buying it separately.

Shame I'm reduced to only getting black as a colour choice, but I guess I new generation means I new colour scheme.

Screw it, i hate them but preordered in store at gamestation today. Was told as ling as i have my name and deposit down i will have one at launch.

Apparently they're planning midnight opening for guys with preorders to pick theirs up but unsure of full allocation for non-preorders as of yet.

There was quite a bit of interest instore and not from your typical early adopters, and credit to the staff they knew exactly what they were talking about when i overheard them describing the bundles and differences etc.

I know I'll end paying more than i should, but for me nothing beats going instore, picking it up and excitedly journeying home.

I too would like to know this as I also ordered the black Wii U in June.

It just doesnt really seem all that fair if they can cancel those orders and claim they were an error, yet honour all of yesterdays orders for the same price?

They both had the same Amazon product ASIN of B008B5YB4W.

(Yes i'm probably just a little bitter/jealous but hopefully someone can see my point)

I've just sent them an email and will let you know how it goes mate. Thanks for letting me know the ASIN number, both items having the same number should help our case hopefully. I also gave a link in the email to the Amazon forum thread where people had mentioned getting confirmation from customer service staff that their orders were honoured.

Also threatened to report them to Trading Standards and Watchdog in the final sentence lol.

Jumped on that Sainsbury's £296 ZombiU bundle deal. Will keep an eye out to see if other retailers react, because like others I have no idea what their delivery reliability is like. Think I trust them a hell of a lot more than Zavvi though.

Thanks for the Sainsburys code, got my order in just in case I can't go and pick up in a store on launch day.

The 500 odd nectar points keeps the wife happy too.

I'm basically going for the Zavvi ZombiiU deal, seeing as NintendoLand will probably be a cheaper game post-launch than ZombiiU, and it'll come with the Pro Controller, which I will be wanting in the future anyways. My usual places (Amazon, GAME, Play.com) don't have attractive prices, and the big HMV in London is sure to have a midnight launch, but I won't bite their bait at their £330 pricepoint.

I personally predicted £220/£250/£280 for the bundles, so I'm slightly satisfied that, at the least, Zavvi/The Hut (sister companies, no?) are keeping their prices down to near those expectations (for the Basic and ZombiiU packs anyways, £275 as a base price for the Premium pack is a bit hefty methinks).

Hopefully other retailers will fight harder with their prices nearer the launch, but for the time being Zavvi have my monies.

O-O~

yeah, after seeing sainsbury's and now expansys, going to hold out till mid october. Hopefully I can snap up something around £230, or it will all horribly backfire and I'll have nothing for a month.

I wouldn't touch Expansys with a barge pole.

Their MO is promising things they don't have and over-charging, not offering bargains.

I've ordered random computer peripherals from Expansys in the past and haven't really had any problems with them.

At £255, they got the cheapest deluxe bundle, so it might be worth pre-ordering from them.

It's where they think they will be sourcing them from that's the problem with something like this. They happily put anything up before they know how many of anything they are getting or even from where sometimes.

I wouldn't trust them for day 1 in the slightest, and looks like an attention-seeking stunt more than anything. If someone with a more reputable reputation jumps as well then it would get interesting though.

this might not be the right place to ask, does anyone know where I can get the most trade in value for a Playstation 3 slim? I've decided to trade mine for the Wii U but I don't want to wait too long as there is apparently a new model coming out.

Expansys has a "Swedish" site too and it costs like 2800 kr (about 280 euro) on other Swedish sites. It´s quite cheap compared to 4k (400 euro). That¨s why I´m wondering if it´s any good.

This is typical of Expansys:

"Terrible service. Willing to accept my payment only to then send me a request for me to scan a utility bill and send this to them. This is basically the customer ensuring the company's own protection from fraud. Do not be misled into thinking this is for your benefit as until goods are received the company is liable and if you pay by credit card you are further insured. this is wholly a ply by the company to cover their own backs.

After i had complied i received an email to say that they had received my scanned documents and the camera i was purchasing would be there as soon as possible. this was now December 20th and this answer as you might expect was no use to me. I asked when i could expect it and i was then told, they are trying to source it. This means they took the money for goods they didn't have. I asked for the cancellation policy and instead of providing this to me sent me a notice that they had now cancelled the order without actually asking me. Shoddy communication, terrible service and arrogance of the highest kind. poor poor company to deal with."

Basically they gamble on stock, if they get some and enough you may be fine but if not you could be screwed. That's why their ratings here spit between 5 or 1:

I can't see them being a priority for Nintendo, and I doubt they are even getting them direct. They usually over-charge for things as well, so this looks more like a stunt to draw attention to themselves.

For day 1 of a high-profile and very in-demand item I wouldn't trust them at all personally.

i've bought from Expansys before. Let's just say i won't anymore as long as I breathe

well, for now I secured my preorder from amazon.it. If price happens to drop somewhere else before that, I'll just cancel the order

Seems strange to NOT preorder. It's 1p at sainsbury's and you can always cancel it before launch.

Might was well do it no?
Yeah, I just made one too, even though I probably can't afford it (just in case a friend might want one and all the pre-orders run out). What? It's a freaking penny!

I think my problem with the ZombiU pack is that Nintendo Land is likely to hold its value for quite some time whereas Ubisoft games plummet very quickly, that is why I won't buy Rayman Legends at launch, the originals price fell so fast it was a blur.

But it also includes the Pro Controller.

Do they ship to mainland Europe? I guess they won't ship hardware. £255 is a very good deal.

I would think Nintendoland will drop faster because it's a pack in that lots of casuals will already have... It also has the appearance of a mini game set rather than a fully fledged game like ZombieU. I dunno... just think ZombieU will hold its value. + the pro controller, which everyone has pointed out.

Which is kind of weird since doesn't zombiU require the WiiU pad? Why add an extra controller with a game bundle if the game doesn't use it?

True, but if the Wii launch is anything to go by, peripherals will be hard to come by, so having one in the box saves all the bother of trying to find them.

nope. probably detected its the same address though?

Ive had the same email back when I used a code and set myself as a new customer. I never rang them but I assume it's down to the same address business.

As for sainsbury delivery times, I've ordered 2 games with them recently and I got them on release day. But like always things can vary. I've never had a problem with zavvi though mind you either. Then again these days I don't care if I get it on launch day so much.

I got the ZombiU bundle from Zavvi for £284.99 with a new customer discount. Thats about 45 quid less than Amazon, not bad at all. Never used Zavvi before though so I hope they're deliveries are fast, it wouldn't let me choose a next day, there was only a free delivery option.

Which is why it is more expensive. ZombiU pack does not contain Nintendo Land.
