Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

I will get both versions! :D

This picture is hot!

Really hot, liked it a lot.

I really wish they dropped Moga Village and gave us Yukumo Village instead, but I guess that wouldn't make sense with the water theme of Tri.

More questions: Is farming Ceadeus as miserable in this game as it was in Tri? It was the only thing I loathed about the game.

Also, does the "plot" continue from the previous game? I wonder if I can remember how to make my hunter look the same...

Three things:

1. Long sword haters, go to hell. >:(
2. Good LS users don't spam Spirit Combos. They use it situationally.
3. Please tell me you can get LS right away in Tri G, it was ridiculous how long you had to wait to get it in Tri.

Well with online returning you could cheat and go straight online to forge the Switch Axe and LS. A lot of people did that in tri.

I think I have been stuck at first online Jhen HR 30 quest for about 2 years. Feels great =(

I usually pop on, help with a few quests, we try it and fail at the end. Sad. Then I give up for a while or go back to MHP3rd HD Ver. I am hoping that the online version of MHU doesn't have the group only roadblocks that MH Tri does, as I get a lot of enjoyment out of soloing some difficult fights. That HR 30 Jhen though is just impossible alone the first go.

I wonder if Capcom will eventually change the game so players can't trip and knock each other out. There's really no point to it.Rarely have there been any times where someone saved me from a monster's attack by accidently or intentionally tripping/knocking me into the air.

I prefer it this way so people don't go in with 4x spam weapons and just mash away.

And the number of times I save party members with my lance... yeah I'd rather keep it the way it is.

Another thing that would be awesome, an online farm mode. Was annoying having to do a bunch of boring offline quests just to farm honey or random stuff.

I'd rather they keep it in so we can't just mob the monster instead of communicating who is doing what and when.

I suppose you guys are right about that.

A few days ago, I recall trying to stay behind a lance user's shield for cover while he was blocking a projectile attack (don't remember which monster it was) but the attack still hit me.

That's who we're blaming.

I must have misread.

I'm used to players of this game (gamefaqs guys) when they see someone with a SNS they automatically assume they are a noob and other things of that nature which isn't fair to assume. Didn't mean to group in what you were saying with that.

I never understood why they didn't make a huge farm online which has a ton of small spaces, one of them yours, and one tiny desk and a cat to manage everything. It would work exactly like the online smithy where you see all the work behind the desk.

Back in my day longsword mechanics were exactly the same as the greatsword. (MH1 - PS2).

I'm so happy to see dual swords back, my weapon of choice.

It's pretty silly to presume players are "noobs" for using certain weapons.

I mean, even if someone is wacking me all over the map with a hammer or whatever all it takes is a simple request in chat not to do that. So far I haven't came across anyone rude enough to persist on disruptive play.

Monster Hunter communities, from my experiences have generally been pretty darn awesome :)

I need to play with gaf. Gamefaqs is a little uneven in terms of niceness.

I haven't played a Monster Hunter game before, so is this basically an enhanced version of MH3 Tri that makes the original obsolete?

This is an enhanced version like you wouldn't believe, too. It has like 3 x the content of Tri, which is why a lot of people are so eager to get their hands on it.

Hahahahahahahaaha.

No online on the 3DS? Really? Why the hell is it 2012 and multiplayer games on handheld are still very lucky if they even get online versions of their multiplayer?

Because these games are Japanese and Japan doesn't care about online multiplayer, and, yes, we should be grateful for the fact that we're even getting this game, not complaining about the lack of online on the 3DS version when we're getting it on the Wii U.

Because Japan has plenty of people to play with locally. Japanese developers have to weigh how important the western audience is.

There's no ad-hoc like method to get the 3DS version online when used with the Wii U version, right? Cross play between 3DS and Wii U is local co-op only?

3DS version is going bomba pretty hard here.

Yeah, Capcom should consider adding online to their handheld games or convince Nintendo to make an Adhoc Party app for Wii U.

I honestly see no reason to buy the 3DS version. :(

SNS is legitimate for sleepbombing.

So much love for the wiiu right now...brings a tear to me glass eye. I was going to buy a wiiu before but monster hunter cements this decision in the sticky green goo of a Black Dios cream pie. All that's missing is final fantasy and street fighter and its snes glory days all over again.

Yeah it's nice that people are liking the Wii U now, E3 2012 had tons of hate but I do understand since it was a disappointment, all Nintendo needs now is another conference detailing all of Nintendo Network and 2013 games and Nintendo will get more people.
