Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

Aaaaaaargh!!! I'm so annoyed with myself!!!!

My plan was to use some of the funds from my betting bank to fund my Wii U purchases but I've very stupidly lost £220 this afternoon. I backed a draw for the Athletico Madrid match tonight and laid the draw for the Athletico Madrid B match this afternoon by mistake lol. And the gits drew lololol

I'm using a thing called Bonus Bagging which uses free bonus cash from bookies when you join to make a bet and you lay (bet against) the bet at a betting exchange like Betfair or Betdaq to guarantee a profit every time no matter what the result is...as long as you don't cock up like I did lololol.

Oh well, got another £820 worth of bonuses to cash in on yet. If I hadn't cocked up I'd have had £536 in my betting bank after tonight's match instead of £316. No use crying over spilt milk I guess, especially when there's a cash cow handy waiting to be milked lol.

If any of you want to try it out then bung Bonus Bagging into Google, you can't beat tax free money...but beware, if you can't put on both bets for some reason, or if you make a cock up like me then you can lose money so never bet money that you can't afford to lose!

Pro controller seems to be around £30-32, so assuming you want both Nintendoland and zombieU, the price is basically the same whether you get the premium bundle and buy zombieU and pro controller, or the zombieU bundle and buy Nintendoland.

I'd be wary of zavvi shipping on time. Don't know how reliable amazon are but they should be better. Tempted to gamble on a preorder there with the hope that prices drop due to matching a supermarket etc.

Well I don't see myself needing a Pro Controller just yet and Nintendoland looks more appealing to me at the moment so I went for the basic Premium bundle.

Also I'm semi guessing ZombiU will go in price after a while which is the usual fate of launch titles that don't have Mario is the name.

That's my thinking too, you often get ubisoft games offered in bundles, so I guess they are more flexible in pricing

I know the benefits of Shopto, but I'm looking for the cheapest price, not the fastest delivery. Zavvi seems to have the best deal for the ZombiU bundle in this sense.

Then wait.

Unless someone makes (another) pricing error, you will not get the cheapest price currently

Update: My £199 basic bundle preorder from Amazon (placed before conference started, subsequently changed to £249) received an email update.....

"You delivery date for thus item has been amended to 3rd - 5th Dec"

Not been cancelled yet! Woohoo!

Sweet, me too!
"New estimated arrival date: November 30 2012"
£199 and release day delivery
Amazon <3

If I put in a preorder to Amazon (seems like they are still selling launch day stock), when will my card be hit, in November? Can I cancel before now and then?

EDIT: holy fuck the games are £45-50. I have never, ever paid so much for games in the UK. I think highest ever has been £35.

Still cheaper than N64 games. £50-£75.

Other than N64 era pricing I'd say £35 is around what is typical. Unless you go GAME.

Also prices will come down soon, as launch games are always over priced by £10-£15. Eventually £35 will be the norm.

should be able to cancel up to a few days before release.

And don't forget our great distance selling regs. Anything you buy online via mail order, you get 7 days to return it no questions asked, so you can return it afterwards too - eg if you find a supermarket selling for cheaper, or amazon deliver late and you picked one up elsewhere

Indeed, that pack in game with the pro bundle better have some longevity because there is no way I'm paying those prices for non-AAA titles. Not to mention that Nintendo first party stuff rarely drop in price. I don't even understand sudden increase - it's not like it's a true "next-gen" console in terms of visuals, so I can't imagine the games we've seen cost any more to develop than the current 360 and PS3 titles.

I wonder how the ports will be priced, Mass Effect 3 is £15 on the other two platforms already.

It was, missed that though. The basic was £199 just as the conference started (wasn't listed as basic, was just "Wii U - White")

Excellent, the Wii U I ordered in June was listed as 'Wii U - Black'. So if they're honouring orders with similar names then hopefully they'll reinstate my order from June. Hope so anyway, I'm still smarting from losing £220 this afternoon lol.

Happens every pre-launch. There was a time you could only order most 3DS games for their steep £39.99 RRP, but you'd have to go out of your way to pay that much now.

For those ordering for the first time from Zavvi, use this code (ZV16409901) when you sign up to get 5% off your first order, taking the ZombiU bundle down to a pretty solid £285. It also means the discount is applied to any other stuff you buy at the same time. I'm going to wait until after the Eurogamer Expo to decide for sure if I'm getting a Wii U, but that price is tempting. Zavvi apparently aren't good with quick deliveries, but I'm not all that fussed about getting it exactly on launch day.

EDIT: Found out Quidco charge a £5 fee, so am not using them anymore.

Wow, great price. Do they charge right away or close to launch? Can you cancel later? Are they to be relied to deliver?

Charge on dispatch, and for first orders you get an extra 5% off (at least I think that's how much as it took my brothers ZombiU order down from £300 to £285).

As for reliability, I've never had any problems.

Damn, I think I will bite. For some reason the first time code didn't register into the basket, maybe it's further in the checkout flow.

and if you go through quidco.com, its another 2% cashback (not a huge amount, but if you're a member anyway its worth doing)

Any other retail outlets (North America) carrying the WiiU for preorder besides Walmart?

Anybody ever preorder thru Walmart.com before? deposit? pre-purchase?

I think you need to use the code from my previous post to get the discount.

My brother didn't use one when ordering his and still got the discount :S

I wonder what my code was for, then? Anyway, I've signed up to topcashback through your referral link, so you should get a few quid if I enjoy the Wii U at this year's Eurogamer Expo!

Cheers :P thought I might as well try and nab a sign up, it's worth using the site though, you'll pick up money at more places than you think.
