Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

Seems like it worked for me too. The odd thing is they also wrote this;

Note: I request you to first place the order and then after you receive the confirmation email saying your order has entered the dispatch process please write us back by replying to this email because We don’t debit money from your payment card until just before your items are dispatched. Your payment card is charged approximately 24 hours after the items in your order have entered the dispatch process.

Should I ask for a immediate discount?
I'm concerned that there will be something wrong with the billing?
But that's also more than expected and I don't want to be greedy...

Urgh, tempted to contact them just to see if I can get my June order re-instated at the £199 price.

But I know if I get it now, I'll ultimately end up spending more money by picking up games when they're fresh instead of waiting for their inevitable bomba price. Had the exact same problem with the 3DS - bought it because I managed to get a cheap machine at launch; so fucking bored I ended up buying new games at release when I knew I should have just waited a few months for the price drops. Hnnnngggg.

Just buy Nintendo games which rarely drop in private and avoid ubisoft?

While I'm not in the position to get a £199 WiiU I have to say when I had to deal with Amazon's customer services they were very helpful. Had a money off voucher I won in a contest but never got round to using and then lo and behold it has just run out. I simply explained the situation and he extended the voucher for me. Though it took me ages to find a number for them

I don't have a confirmation email of the price drop but I'm not worried about Amazon going back on it. Would be a PR nightmare and they wouldn't hear the end of it from me ;)

The price on my order page says £200 though and I have a screenshot just in case.

My E-Mail wasn't an automated one or anything like that, it was one that the rep actually written themselves, so maybe some of the CS guys just didn't bother in some cases, they didn't need to after all, so long as the query was resolved during the live chat. Still, for me at least it's added protection, but I don't expect Amazon to go back on this now anyway.

Moving on, I'm waiting for game prices to come down on Amazon now as I'd rather avoid Zavvi, but they're a lot cheaper at the moment. If I need to wait until launch and get a few games at Supermarkets/Online I don't mind. The hardware may be limited, but the software will not be!

I thought so too but a lot of the Nintendo published 3DS games I bought price dropped pretty quickly or had awesome temporary / clearence discounts which I could've taken advantage of if I weren't so weak, e.g. Dead or Alive, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Mario Land, Starfox, Zelda had pretty good discounts within a few months after release which left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth (along with the 3DS console price cut and the 3DS XL discounts I've started to notice just a few weeks after release).

Dude try with the phone. You put in your number and they call you. Its worth the try and you should def speak to them as thats how we seemed to get ours changed.

You can make them call you.

I've just talked to CS again using the live chat and they said that they wouldn't call any number outside the UK and offered me to use the chat to speak to a supervisor.

At least this time the rep seemed to really want to help me, but ultimately assured me that he/she had his/her hands tied :( Oh well, it was too good to be true.

Actually, Sainsburys with the SETENS12R code is currently the cheapest way of doing it. Even if it wasn't, I'd still rather get a Wii U from there than playing the Zavvi lottery.

Thanks for sharing the code - just ordered from Sainsbury.

I place an order every time a find a supplier who is cheaper, so I now have half the initial UK stock allocation heading for my door - maybe I ought to cancel some of these pre-orders and just stick with the cheapest.

I've had no luck getting my June Preorder price reinstated despite speaking to several people. Kind of a shame as I'd loved to have gotten the Premium Wii U for £200 :(

It seems to be pure luck. The guy I spoke to on Live Chat was adamant that nothing could be done, but the guy who rang me asked what I was after and once I explained had no issue doing it.

Might be a lot harder now as it appears most of them have been told not to honour it.

GAME are going to offer a extra 50% trade in value on hardware against Wii U.

Official details on the promotion are said to be coming within the next few days.

"We have three launch packages for the Wii U and customers interested in pre-ordering can do so in-store or online at www.game.co.uk for a deposit of £20," GAME told VideoGamer.com yesterday.

"Pre-ordering is a great way of guaranteeing a Wii U for the release date and our exceptional trade-in offer gives customers a massive 50% extra value on any console or handheld console traded in against the Wii U."

http://www.videogamer.com/news/game_to_offer_50_extra_trade-in_on_hardware_against_wii_u.html

So how much will I get for a Wii then? £5?

Whats the best way to approach the call, when I spoke to the other Amazon reps I politely enquired if it was possible to get them to honor the original pre order but they weren't going for it.

I just explained that I ordered the Wii-U back in June for £199.99 and that it was cancelled sometime later but that other people were now getting that price honoured. I even explained the process of ordering it again and having him discount it.

He stuck me on hold for a minute to check something came back and said no problem.

Silly question, but the GamePad has its own little holder for the stylus right?

I've heard sillier questions today.

yes, it has. Upper rigt corner on the left side from the R-Trigger. It's a stadart sized stylus, like it came with the DSi And 3DS XL.

Have any of the other 199'ers received another confirmation email from Amazon with a CS survey link?
Yes, and left glowing feedback. I feel for those not getting this discount but then Amazon really didn't need to do this.

I fully expected to be told no so this was a welcome bonus. The fact is this just means that I'll end up using Amazon even more now so they'll end up making their money back from me!

Already switched my order of NSMBU to Amazon because I felt bad about it.

Thanks, I spoke to a couple more people but still no luck. They said that unless I could prove (i.e. with an order number from someone else) that someone else is getting their Wii U Black for £199 they can't help.

Thought I might have a stab at this. As time goes on, prices are likely to drop further and more deals will become available, so it might be a good idea to collect all the decent prices in one place for anyone who wants to grab some games with their launch Wii U.

That's a great idea. Very good price for Tekken I might bite on that one. What's the issues with the Hut Group?

I think Zavvi are cracking up. I have just received the following e-mail from them. Do they actually know it won't be released until 30 November?

"Thanks for placing your order with us at zavvi, order number ********.

We're sorry that your order for the product(s) below has not yet been sent.

Wii U Console: 32GB Nintendo Land Premium Pack - Black

We're sorry this has happened. We're continuously looking for ways to improve the service we offer to you and we really hope you'll give us a chance to do better next time."

Lol this happens all the time to me, get ready for a email every week now saying the same thing.

good idea, but if the shop to links are affiliate-links you should probably change that ?

As someone said before, they do it all the time. I still receive weekly notices for my "undelivered" Zone of the Enders HD Collection (which doesn't even have a release date in the West yet)... XD

I did get a "June Pre-Order" for the black WiiU as well at the time, but seeing as peoples here are not having any more luck with reinstating it, methinks I'll leave it for now... :S

O-O~

That's a great idea. Very good price for Tekken I might bite on that one. What's the issues with the Hut Group?

Basically, I have had several very bad experiences with them, and whilst some people have made several orders with no issues, other people have had a lot of trouble ordering from them as well. They also are fairly well known for poor customer service on a wider scale.

With that in mind, although I felt like I should list them as they offered the best price, from a moral point of view, I didn't want to point GAFfers at a company that I've had so many issues with in the past without fair warning.

They are not affiliate links, they are just redirections to the shop to page from my link generator - http://l.believe.vg

Just a random thought - what if Amazon are more lenient to reinstate £199 orders if you've ordered a lot from then before versus no previous orders from them? Could that be why some has gotten a yes by ease - or is it too far fetched? :P

If you can get on their website. It has ALWAYS been slow for me, but for the last day or two it virtually been at a standstill.

yeah, I noticed. Lots of people surfing probably. I'm undecided between that and amazon.it though...same prices (slightly less on amazon) but Shopto delivers in one day at my home. Uhmmmm

great list kurtrussell. Shopto is going in for the kill
If you don't like them however, Simply Games also have most WiiU games for £39.85 too, but as I have only used them once, for F1 2012 I can't vouch for them personally just yet.

I just tried ShopTo and my bank doesn't like them, apparently.

I'm in no hurry, anyway. Getting the console pre-order in early was the important thing. I'll wait for a price war when it comes to games closer to launch.

That thought had crossed my mind. I do order stuff from Amazon sometimes but I don't order loads of stuff from them often. The other factor maybe that I have a standard Wii U on order (for £199 when they were briefly up at that price last week). The only reason why I haven't cancelled it is if Amazon don't choose to honour my original Black Wii U preorder from June then I don't have anything to fall back on! To be honest the only reason why I want the Premium is for the 32 gig internal storage but I might just be better off going with the basic console and a decent external storage device at this stage.

Cool thanks guys, I'll check out the prices and add them to the next edit to the list.

When I checked previously, the titles on Amazon seemed to range from £44 - £49 which is why I didn't add them, and simply games appeared to be out of stock. Has this changed?

I thought the same thing. But I bought my WiiU from my business account, which I barely ever use... I've probably spent no more than £100 in the past 2 years. So I don't think it's that.

I have used them a quite few times - they normally have decent prices, and they have always been reliable, it is just that their website is sooooo slow.

I just had a chat with Amazon about my Wii U order that turned from me trying to get a cheap Wii U, to me trying to get info on what they are doing.

Apparently they are "very aware that this issue has arisen"
And there is a department " working on this issue currently" (you affected a WHOLE DEPARMENT GAF!)
They are "looking into all affected orders" at this current time
Investigations are been done "in phases"
The buying department is "very aware of what has happened" with this item
If more info comes to light "you will be contacted with relevant information"

I did not push them at all, but they seem to be talking from a script now, which makes me think this is not the end of this yet.

I kinda expect them to cancel all the orders at this stage, it's getting too big :/. That or honour the lot including the ones not done yet but that seems like it'd be a big hit (money wise) for them.

GAF has ruined it for those of us who got legitimate orders for £199 last week. I knew it would happen. :(
