Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

How did you guys convince CS? Did you use the live chat or called? Were your orders from back in June or last week?

I'm running out of ideas, this is the 7th time I try :/ EDIT: And of course, it didn't work.

I've used every argument posted here, and have always been extremely polite and understanding of the situation, while at the same time pressing to get the price as people keep getting it. Guess I'll try writing an email.

Fair enough then my friend, I'm no expert. It was just that your conclusion that WiiU pre-orders could potentially make up 3% of Amazon's profits seemed a bit out there!

The calculation was assuming there were 1000 orders placed at £199 which were honoured. What the true figure is only Amazon will know. As the discussion progressed we all agreed Amazon will make some back due to goodwill purchases from the happy customers, but yes, the inital figure is correct as far as it goes, based on that number of orders.

Well got a reply back from Amazon, says they are aware and can't reinstate price yadda yadda. I'm not gonna chase it up with them as I feel like they have finally got there act together and know what they are doing, would also only save myself a bit of money in the long run as I will still be buying ZombiU and a Pro Controller.

I tried to contact Amazon via phone this afternoon. They stated that they could not give me the £199 price.

So, imagine my surprise, when I opened my email just now to discover a message saying that I will actually get a £100 refund at the time the order is dispatched.

WOOOHOOOOOOOO! Amazon, I love you!

Just a heads up: After the last three chat sessions I've had, I've recieved the exact same followup mail detailing why people who preordered in June won't get the old price and why those who preordered the console last week will, I guess it won't be possible to get the old price back through CS chat anymore.

Ha, nice! How'd you manage to talk them round in the end?

I sent off an email early afternoon with the same basic explanation not expecting anything (all chat sessions and phone calls gave me the same reason why they couldn't reinstate the preorder) so I was actually surprised that I got a positive response back. I must have just been incredibly lucky!

What shocks me is that Panorama View is listed as a standalone title in both Zavvi and Simply Games for around £40.
I was convinced that would have been built in.

Come on Amazon, adjust your game prices.
Assassin's Creed 3 on Wii U is £10 more expensive than the 360/PS3 versions.

I wouldn't worry...once the supermarkets get involved on a more serious level closer to launch we'll see games for £35...maybe even cheaper dipping down to £30-£32.

Unless they all collude together to keep prices up...which is possible.

It's not a real game is it? I think that was a speculative listing.

Zavvi seem to have raised their prices:

Premium Pack w/ Nintendo Land - £294.99
Premium Pace w/ ZombiU - £319.99

Anyone order from them at the original low price? Hope there's no shenanigans.

Just checked my order from them on my account, just to be sure, and it still has the £299.99 price on it, so I assume they'll honour the earlier preorders...

...will be keeping an eye on it though from now until November 30th, just in case they pull any funny stuff... :/

O-O~

Do keep an eye on them guys. When I used to use Zavvi they screwed me over this once. Pre-ordered Portal 2 for £32, but when it came time to despatch my payment method suddenly "failed" for no reason. I told them to re-authorise, but they told me the only thing I could do was re-order... at the higher price of £38!

I've also got a £299 pre-order with Zavvi and it's still that price. I am checking the prices of my five pre-orders every day to see how they change.

I'll either keep my ShopTo order to get it day one, or keep the Zavvi one if it sounds like supermarkets will have good deals, then I can just resell the Zavvi one or send it back when it arrives a week late.

I have a Zavvi pre-order right now, but to be honest I'm not sure I trust them. Especially now their price has gone up and they might do something weird.

Thinking of switching to Amazon or ShopTo to be safe.

Edit: ShopTo is £325 with £8 in reward points and some assurance I'll actually receive the thing at that price. Think I'll just go with them.

If you use Sainsburys Entertainment with the SETENS12R new customer code you can get it cheaper than the original Zavvi price.

If you already have an account, the only thing that Sainsburys Entertainment use to check duplicates is name and Nectar Card, so you can get around it by doing the following:

1 - Create a false name when signing up (don't worry, you are asked for your real name when inputting card details)
2 - Leave the Nectar card section blank
3 - After your account is created, input your nectar card details. It doesn't check for duplicates at this stage...

After yesterday's Live Chat, Amazon have now offered me a £100 refund once Wii U gets dispatched

The email came from a different person than I talked to in chat. The girl in chat said she would forward my info to someone, but I thought nothing would come of it.

I still don't know why I am getting this - but I will take it.

Because you're one of life's winners, Keyser.

Come on in. The water's warm.

Thanks for the heads up man. That comes out to £296.99. Later Zavvi.

Phone Amazon and they will change your order to £199.99, as of 10 minutes ago, my order is at the original June price.

My girlfriend just spoke to them and they said:

"Our manager said that they are definitely honouring the price change for genuine june orders, anything later than June won't be honoured".

Not exactly that, but more or less those words.

Guess I owe my girlfriend something that costs £100.

Didn't work for me, it took my order then i got a cancellation email the next day

Wat. They've been saying the exact opposite all this time!

And I cancelled today my (new) order thinking that nothing could be done anymore, damn...

Did you sign up using a different name? I did it myself using Mrs Kurtrussell's name, and added the nectar card later, and it's all gone through fine - at least no cancellation email and it's been 3 days now and the nectar points are already sitting in my nectar account!

Assassins Creed 3 Join or Die Edition (Wii U) £34.99 @ Ubisoft Shop

Seems to be a misprice.

Is it the same price as the PC version?

Edit: Yep, it is the same.
How trusting are we of UbiSoft?
If you mean the Ubishop, I ordered from it recently. Ordered on a Sunday, got shipped on Monday morning and arrived on Wednesday around 10 AM. From Germany to Austria. No shipping costs starting from 29,99 (19,99 Pounds for UK) Euros.

Well I went ahead with it. Will be my first AssCreed game. But it's one of the best prices for a WiiU game so far so I can't complain and it's nice to have something else near launch.

Ubi don't take the money at the time of pre order do they? I'm considering double dipping at that price so would be cool if I can pre order now and decide later.

There's no way Ubi will honour this one, right?

Pre-ordering anyway! Worth a punt, certainly!

Edit: It also says the following on the site: PREORDER ASSASSIN’S CREED® III AND GET £10 OFF YOUR NEXT ORDER!

If that works out too, I'll pre-order ZombiU too, because that'll work out at £30, not sure how the system will work on that though as yet.

No they don't, they don't charge until its ready to ship
The charge has already appeared on my credit card, so they're at least pre-authing it now to check the funds, which is as good as charging if you haven't got the money.

Anyway, I don't mind paying up front either way, as long as they honour the price.
