What albums do you consider "perfect"?

Lydia - Illuminate

One of the best albums I've ever heard. Made me start to take the indie genre seriously. Just an absolutely perfect album. Sample

Agalloch - The Mantle
LyZR4.jpg

All of Agalloch's albums are wonderful, but this one is arguably the best. Sample

RQTN - Decades and Decisions

A more recent discovery, but wooooooow, I've seriously never heard anything like this. Sample

Roberto Cacciapaglia - Ten Directions
XU2eN.jpg

My favorite neoclassical album ever. Sample

Woods of Desolation - Torn Beyond Reason

This won't be to a lot of GAF's tastes, but it's probably my favorite black metal album ever. Sample

That's pretty much the only album I could think of I'd consider perfect, but after going back to it having listened to Coexist (which I definitely do not consider perfect) I don't know anymore...

I, feel the same way sadly. Still consider it perfect. Listen to Crooks and Lovers for a week. =)

This man knows how to play the blues.

I know, it's not all recorded that night, but damn if it isn't a fine few hours. Do yourself a favor and get the extended 2 disc edition. Lots more stuff on there and it's all worth a listen.

Prodigy Presents: The Dirt Chamber Sessions Vol 1. Truly, the perfect album.

I think it's the density of samples, the choice of tracks and the way everything just flows with clinical precision. I could listen to it every day for the rest of my life, happily.
Choice David, choice!

"It's like dat y'all,
It's like dat y'all,
It's like d-d-d,
It's like dat y'all,"

Never tire of either album, the Love album had brilliant blends of songs.

Libertines definitely not to everyone's taste but I pretty much love everyone of their songs, 2 albums wasn't enough

Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion

Loveless

Aeroplane

Nothing's perfect but these are a few I really love.

Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me

Circa Survive - On Letting Go

Eminem - The Eminem Show

Alexisonfire - Watch Out!

I can't possibly think that highly of any Circle Surive record after Translating The Name.

Watch Out is defo a contender though. Déja Entendu moreso than Devil for me though.

I'd call this perfect too. Still listen to this regularly.

After I've listened to the sequel a bunch of times, I'd say the debut is better, but the sequel is pretty restrained and different, so that they're not so easily compared because of the difference in goals. Still, both amazing amazing albums for me. The XX man, probably my favorite band right now.

Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine

Ire Works & Option Paralysis are also brilliant. The older albums are good but kind of exhausting;)

s/t just sounds so flat to me now. but yeah, 2 albums for the proverbial lonely island for sure.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix by Phoenix. On my first listen, I was afraid the poppy catching sound would lose its lust, but It has been three years since its release and I still find myself listening to it all the way through on a regular basis. Can't wait to see what they come up with on their next album.

Oh man, I'm so glad he left Saosin to make Circa Survive. Four albums and they've all been incredible...as for Deja its pretty great too, but TDAG always seemed to me to be their most mature, complete record.

Saint Etienne - Foxbase Alpha

De La Soul - Three Feet High & Rising

Portishead - Dummy

Coldcut - Journeys by DJs

Underworld - dubnobasswithmyheadman

David Holmes - Let's Get Killed

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

And with that recommendation I've just brought it.

To me, the perfect album is Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness from Smashing Pumpkins, even at 2 discs, there is so much variety that I never get bored.

Mellon+Collie+and+the+Infinite+Sadness+disc+2+Twil+Twilight+to+Starlight.jpg

While not a full album, I'll add this.

Scuba - Adrenalin EP

scuba-art-530.jpg

There isn't a single part of this thing where its out of whack. 3 perfect songs for me.

2012's Personality (aoty) is better overall, but this EP might fit the criteria better.

Adrenalin

Never

Everywhere

Prince - Purple Rain

Tears for Fears - Songs From The Big Chair

Outkast - ATLiens

ODB - Return to the 36 Chambers

The Roots - The Tipping Point

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic

Stevie Wonder - Inversions

Stevie Wonder - Music of My Mind

I always want to say Thriller but I really hate the girl is mine. Michael Jackson has pretty much never made a bad song but that's as close as it gets. It's not necessarily Paul McCartney either because I like say say say. There's just something about it I always skip it.
