PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

People whining about getting the Starhawk campaign for free with Plus...

Oh GAF.

I know. You're still getting $20 bucks off the full game experience with plus if you choose that and your yearly investment was $50. That's HUUUUUGE if you ask me and I'm probably buying this just to support this model. If more games did this that would be awesome. I would love for this to happen for Twisted Metal, for example.

And you guys were wanting more current games on plus, right!? This was released just last spring. So it IS really true: if you give GAF what they want, they'll still find a reason to bitch. :(

Would you give that up if you were given the option to get more and more current games on plus at a faster pace (not stuff like Borderlands)? I know I would.

Well the MP trophy problem is not sony's, that's up to each developer and they really need to cut that shit out. It's no fun grinding 1000 kills or whatever in multiplayer.

But yeah I'd like more recent games especially niche ones because I usually buy most AAA games on PC or if they're exclusive on PS3. Like when the Vita + starts I wouldn't mind getting something like Shinobido 2 which is on my list to get but it's harder to find at a decent price.

Personally i'd love to see the single player portion of games given out more. I only really ever play single player, so that would be awesome for me ;D

Might buy the Starhawk multiplayer though seeing as i was a massive fan of Warhawk.

Im torn on PS+ for Vita and here is why....

I want 50% to 75% off Vita games so I could buy them and keep them for eternity, tied to my account.

What PSN+ will do is give us Vita games for $0 upfront (the free titles) but as a rental for a year if you keep paying for the service.

Wish that if a PSN title DLed for free from PSN+ was offered are a steep discount to regular members (say 90% off), we, PSN+ users, could have a choice to purchase said game, to keep forever. I know its stupid to think this way but I like to "own" my digital purchases (yes I know its not like this even with Steam yada yada...) but I hate to think PSN+ items being rentals only.

I know thats the "hook" of PSN+. Its to keep you stuck to the service due to all the "free" games you accumulate and not wanting to lose "access" to them. But what if one day you dont want to pay for PSN+ again or want to own 100% your games?

Before you say "well you only will play them once and move along, why would you want to own/keep them?" Well we buy games, beat them and keep them or resell them. But we have that choice. To keep or sell. (talking retail) With PSN+, free titles are rented and not kept. I want to have a choice to rent and be able to purchase.(if offered at a discount in the future) PSN+ currently has that FLAW (yes its a flaw) were you cant purchase a title gotten for "free"/rented since that option is removed once its on your Download list. Sorry for my rant but its a little annoyance of PSN+ for me.

I see what you're saying and i agree. I prefer discounts to "freebies" as it means i can keep the game forever. But you put the finger on the reason why it doesn't happen. Sony wouldn't have a hook to keep you subscribed. As it is, if you want to keep playing them, you have to pay Sony for another year. And that's probably the way they would like it to stay :P

Worth noting though that PS3 and Vita Plus is a single subscription, which is a hell of a lot of value.

Quick question fellow GAFfers, I have Read Dead Redemption from PS Plus but the game randomly exits and goes to the PS3 menu.

Is there anything I can do?

-I have more than one Year of PS+ remaining and the same can be seen when I click on "information" on Read Dead Redemption.

-I went to my Download list, clicked "Download" and let the game activate again.

It happened to me 3 times. Two in the cutscenes, one during gameplay. During the cutscenes I saw that the sound was off seconds before the game going back to the PS3 menu.

Also, the game does not say it's a Trial, never. Not even when it randomly exit to the menu.

Thanks in advance, if you can please help this game is even better the second time playing.

Nobody have an idea to fix this?

One thing that does make me curious is wondering what Sony's exit strategy is for Plus. I don't see it as a service they will offer forever, which makes me wonder what happens when *Sony* stops the service, whether there will be a way to retain our Plus-only items.

Well you shouldn't worry about PS+ exit.

This month's Plus has been a bit naff besides RDR. Double Dragon is really terrible, and Scott Pilgrim is neat but irrelevant.

I think you're missing the point: I'm thinking *very* long-term. Two or three generations down the line. There's a lot of uncertainty that far ahead.

No PS4 for me if that's the case.

I really don't think Sony will do it though.

I wouldn't mind it if it means more free stuff and services. :)

If they decide to stop the service 10-15 years from now when we play on PS6, I think they'll let you keep your PS3 and PS4 stuff.

I'm really worried about that situation where Sony stops PS+ too. (Either by their own choice or by leaving gaming) They should make a system that 2+ year old content becomes actually forever yours so you gradually get to keep all stuff you downloaded. At the end you just pay another $30 or something and you get to keep everything you have downloaded over the years.

Sony cant and wont keep their servers alive forever.
So unless someone cracks the PS3 and allows us to do working backups we will lose our digital content sometime in the future.

This - I think after 2 years of continuous subbing the content you've 'rented' should become 'owned'...great idea.

I imagine if they phase out + at any point, they would do this for the goodwill alone if nothing else. All they would need is to update the licenses on your account to say 2099 expiraton date.

I understand the desire to have all your games tied to one account, but it's not like Sony charges for PSN accounts. Sign up for a new free email address, create a new PSN account, buy what you want and keep it "forever". Aside from Vita stuff of course, where accounts are tied to memory cards IIRC. It is a problem with PS+ but not a huge one. Then again, Vita support is still not out yet, so who knows if it will work the same as on PS3.

Yep. Though it's still not clear whether it's October's Game of the Month or 'PlayStation Presents' title. Maybe we'll only get one this month (alongside the two in the middle of the month of course).

The Free games for US PS+ members will be announced at 2nd oct

Starhawk Free sp is a bonus , its not replacing any game

Oh heck yeah Tokyo Jungle is all mine! Even if I don't care about 90% of the games/discounts, Plus is still totally worth it to me. I feel like that needs said every once in a while.

If I let my subscription lapse and then start it up again next month, my saves are all preserved and I don't need to reinstall anything right?

Correct.

EDIT: Not sure on the saves actually, but the reinstall is definitely correct.

EDIT2: This doesn't sound promising. But you won't lose your local saves... are you talking about cloud saves or local saves? (I should probably have asked this first. :p)

Hmm, I said no when it asked me after installation if I wanted to use Cloud saves so I assume the saves are local. They're for Outland and LittleBigPlanet 2 if it makes a difference. Thanks for checking! Seems like I made the right decision?

The saves are stored locally either way, if you select yes to the cloud saves they're backed up into the cloud so that you could delete them locally and restore again at another time if you wanted. So if you're just going to lapse the sub for a month and not change anything on the PS3 you should be fine.

I really wish the psn store site was better.

I still have no idea what I would get with plus on my vita besides some cloud storage and auto updates?
