Season's Beatings: Ascension | Fighting Game Tournament | Sep 28-30 2012

I can never understand why Dooms go for the finger-laser super. It's not fast and it does no chip at all.
It's safe and full screen. The ground version hits behind him great for catching teleports and you can x factor it to confirm into full combo.

Good shit to Chris G, this was completely his day in Marvel. Dominating performance.

It depends on the situation. It's safe, it gives you a moment of breathing room, it's a great DHC, and it guarantees a Plasma Beam usually, which means it's a good way to put some chip on the screen. Doom doesn't have much use for meter.

This might be the last Season's Beatings? What? NOOOOO! :(

The tournament was so hype

Also, good shit for ConsoleCombat for having a really solid stream

Console Combat getting their 15 minutes of fame because Sp00ky didn't show up. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Favorite moments from SBA were the Fchamp vs ChrisG set, the SF4 finals and some of the matches from the USA vs world event.

The Marvel finals basically were exactly like the EVO SF4 finals. So much excitement from the previous event knocked the wind out of the room and a combination of bad commentary pairings and the event getting late, it was a very ho hum finals. Still though the best player there won in convincing fashion.

I fully understand it as a DHC or as an option when he can get chip with the plasma, it just doesn't give anything to Doom when he uses it in the neutral game and a lot of the time Doom players spam it.

This was advance level exhibition of passive-aggression on stream closing out the night. Tayson & Champ avoiding eye contact while trying to figure how to artfully bring up points/counterpoints as to why that draw played out the way it did.

edit: now the organizer is straight up lying about the number of unique views the tournament got. There's no way an average 10k stream over three days equals 1.5 million different people checking in.

It's usually just because Doom has nothing better to do with the meter. Anyone he touches tends to die, so you might as well get some screen control and chip.

Doom missiles should have had a way to deactivate the missles from the start. Heck you can deactivate stalking flare by hitting Dorm and that costs meter.
Hidden Missiles don't follow you forever until they hit you...

It's great to see Chris G having a lock on keeping cool under pressure/fatigue (Especially in light of that tweet he made about his nerves being shot earlier) these days. Ascension, indeed.

I believe it but the stream restarts inflate your number a little bit.

Unique visitors are listed openly under the video window. 1,749,633 on my screen; some of those are from prior streams but given this is the first major stream they've handled I'm sure the majority of that is from this event.

They put in the work to run the stream for the event. Let them do their thing.
Yup. They did a really good job considering how last minute everything was, so props to them. A bunch of issues, yeah, but much better than no main stream at all. So shout outs to them.

My favourite bit of SB:A was the Champ/Chris G exhibition, followed by Marvel pools.

Well the tournament ended on a sad note.

Good shit to everyone on FightingGAF for making this tournament hype as always

That's not unique viewers. That's total viewers across all existence of the stream. Streamer themselves can refresh their own stream and the count will go up. Only Twitch guys would know unique viewers.

It doesn't cost meter either. But I don't play Marvel so more power to those that love that assist I guess.
As someone who:
1) Play Marvel.
2) Has used Doom extensively.
3) Uses Dormammu extensively.
4) Hates Hidden Missiles.

I do not think that is the proper nerf for the assist. It would simply never get used then, because it's too hard to protect for as long as it's out there.

A good nerf to the assist would be Doom taking another 10-15 frames before he starts calling the missiles. So, if someone does call + teleport, you have a good opportunity to dash back and hit him. If someone calls the assist randomly, hyper punishes have some meaning.

Alternatively, they could knock the number of missiles it calls out again. In Vanilla he called out 2 more than he does now. They could kick it down to 4 missiles so the assist doesn't provide much lockdown.
