To be fair, not everyone does give a shit about an internet forum account. And he does make some solid, yet tired, points in regards to how people treat certain companies. Obviously not the ideal way to add to a conversation though. I actually enjoy the people that get riled up over that stuff more. Is there a more popular go-to gaming insult than "you must be 14"?

Look. The discussion started way back when it was asked if anyone call republicans names like they do on GAF. We have got way too caught up in my being aggressive about it or starting fights or something. Lets go back.

No. But I would certainly attack their position, and if they were imbeciles I would probably mock them gently. Better? Would I refrain from doing so because I am afraid of being beaten up? No, I don't work in that sort of of environment, and if I did I would be looking for another job. I might refrains from doing so because of a lack of job security, or out of courtesy.

After that of course a few other notable posters who are significantly close to the Republican position than I am threw a few questions, and I answered them. And here we are.

There was never any response about who had called for Republicans to die, either.

Nobody is saying that you don't have the cojones to have a argument (brah, I'm a liberal in the military, you think I don't voice my opinions?) just that the initial assertion was a bit out there. I've never seen anybody around here calling for Republicans as a whole to die, either, so that was also a bit hyperbolic.

Basically, a lot of hyperbole all over the place. AKA, another day on GAF. Got it, moving on.

Both sides are being pretty stupid yeah.

Gaming side has been pretty silly lately.

I've been banned as a junior but lived. I wouldn't count on that tiny chance though, so it's best to stay low as a junior.

System wars were fun in the 90s because we were kids and usually did only have one machine. It's really strange to see it nowadays though.. adults acting like they're only allowed to choose one machine or one company.

This hasn't been the first major bannings and it won't be the last. This is why I never get so invested in GAF arguments. It's better to say your piece and then just back out. It's not worth escalating anything.

The only thing I'd argue is that the random list of what memes are banned and what aren't is obnoxious to keep pace with. But other than that, GAF is a pretty fair and tolerant place I'd say. Habitual line-steppers seem to have the biggest problems here. A good example from the last page:

It's real simple to survive in this place: Don't be this guy. You may not agree with the rules about something, lord knows I have my issues with some of the things enforced here. But if you are going to repeatedly cross the mods on an issue they have clearly laid down, they will respond appropriately. This is a reasonable expectation of any decent forum.

It´s not because she´s vocal. It´s the way she acts. She´s aggressive, obnoxious, and insulting. Even though she posts 100 posts in some thread those posts don´t contribute to the discussion with anything beside sarcasm, and insults. Instead of staying calm and explain her point like a mature adults she throws tempers and acts very immaturely.

But but, it´s all good if she throws tempers, insults people, and shits up threads, and be aggressive towards other posters, because she has a cause.

So what if she was right. I agree with most of things that she supports. What i don´t like is how with her behavior alienates people who would be be better off when others explain things calmly. You don´t convince others with your view point if you insult them, and be aggressive towards them. You win them to your side by calmly telling them your view point and why you think they are wrong. You explain to them the repercussions of their choices, and how it effects their surroundings. She´s not doing any favor to the feminist movement by her behavior. It´s the opposite effect. She´s pushing a lot of people who would better off if one would win them over by calmly convincing them otherwise.

But i guess it´s apparently just me, since some people here are above all criticism apparently.

Edit: BTW it´s so fucking offensive that you think i have issue with her because she´s a woman.

I don't agree with any of this. I've been banned for throwing tempers, insulting people and shitting up threads in the name of a cause, and my ban reason reflected that. I don't think what she does is the same thing at all.

And that's the right way for it to be. If there was a clearly defined line people would be constantly feel safe living right on that line. When that line moves and is a bit hazy I think it gives people that moment to pause and think, "Do I really want to post this? Is it worth a potential banning?" Or better yet, "Is there a way I can word this so that people won't take offense yet still see my point of view?"

The GAF hive mind really doesn’t bother me. Sure they can make insulting baseless comments and throw straw-man arguments at you but who cares? I'm pretty sure it's not personal and I can just call them up on that nonsense. Even still I enjoy the debate and never take it personally. I’m happy to take a few kicks in order to find the good arguments to debate. I might be weird but meh, my skin is thicker than that.

Edit: It seems like I'm a bit behind on the topic. Damn.
 
Wasn't there another junior who may have got banned for a joke? Kloweteer or something. Feel more sorry for him than I do for Blasty though I am pleased that he wasn't permed.
 
Looking at Blasty's posts he said it only took him 6 hours after signing up to get approved for GAF. Fuck, I don't feel bad anymore. Perma the kid, he'll be back in a few hours anyway
 
The events of this weekend are a bit heavy handed but I can't say I neccesserily disagree with what happened. Especially considering that most were temporary.
 
I never understood GAF lore of that moment

I had to lurk for 2 years before gaining access, even though I signed up in 2006, 2008 was when I became a GAFfer

So some stories passed me by and never got to experience them

The day a thread pops off and becomes legend and you are experiencing it first hand is a sight to behold

Be it Pun-GAF, gif-Dump GAF, Ether-GAF

The outcome of people around the world at the same time as you experiencing the same emotions of joy/sadness and not knowing each other (only your e-persona) is very humbling

Also love how GAF is a huge community, but ciphers off into smaller sub-communities with their style/lingo/insularity
Jump into Pop-GAF, glorious gifs abound, stans stanning, flawless/sis being added into my vocabulary (I <3 Kyon and the rest)
