No it was more like he posted something questionable in that thread and when it was closed/locked/stickied, he freaked out.he's not a gaf celeb
he's just some junior that was scared of being banned because gaf is too strict for him or something
and then he went and posted stupid shit in the creeper thread and got banned for it
Fuck this noise. Anybody who "would be a feminist if feminists weren't so rude to them" is NOT A FEMINIST.
And here I thought I was lucky for having to wait 2 days...Looking at Blasty's posts he said it only took him 6 hours after signing up to get approved for GAF. Fuck, I don't feel bad anymore. Perma the kid, he'll be back in a few hours anyway
And here I thought I was lucky for having to wait 2 days...
I was 2 years... 2 years (/_\![]()
2 years? That's crazy, I had to wait around 9 months to get activated.
It´s not because she´s vocal. It´s the way she acts. She´s aggressive, obnoxious, and insulting. Even though she posts 100 posts in some thread those posts don´t contribute to the discussion with anything beside sarcasm, and insults. Instead of staying calm and explain her point like a mature adults she throws tempers and acts very immaturely.
I think it's possible to support equal rights for women whilst also wanting to avoid being associated with brash and confrontational attitudes. Given this, I see no issue with people shying away from being openly labelled 'feminist' in certain contexts. Just as many people with no faith don't want to be labelled 'atheist'.

So I think I just caught up, basically Bish reamed the creepshots thread? There's so much blood everywhere but do we know which ones are permas and which ones aren't? If I had that austinpowerswalkin.gif I'd post it.
By the way, I hate the fact that your posts per day are calculated from the time you signed up, not when you were approved. It's a stupidly tiny problem but it still ticks me off. *first world problems*
It always fascinates me when people who have relatively aggressive posting styles themselves get so upset with Devolution or whatever.

Sounds related to the point Mumei was trying to make earlier.
Juniors are probably gone for good, but I don't think any posts were bad enough for a perm. That thread is lucky Bish decided against a round 3...
The fact that Devo is brought up in threads that have literally no bearing on her whatsoever supports her claims. It's obnoxious to me, and lord knows I don't agree with her all the time. It's also very, very weird.

She also has a sense of humor and an appreciation for filth.

Wait, round 3? He strafed twice in the same thread or in two different threads?
Honestly I think Gaf celebs should be judged just as hard as the average poster EXCEPT when they are consistently funny and know when to back off. So essentially noone.
The only reason you'd have to "rehabilitate" feminism is if you think it's broken as a concept in the first place. Rehabilitate Valerie Solanas, rehabilitate Andrea Dworkin, rehabilitate Gloria Steinem for her views on transsexualism, but don't rehabilitate a concept.
People have no problem with my aggressive posting style, but I have a wiener so I get a pass.
I don't know, many people just can't be arsed to 'fight the fight', especially somewhere as polarised as the internet. I understand that, I'm the same with a few issues.Avoiding labels that perfectly describe you because the people who use them are too aggressive or whatever is kinda odd to me. Isn't joining and being nice the best solution to fix that?
Next time someone calls feminists angry or confrontational you can just say; "Well I consider myself a feminist, do you consider me angry?".
If people then proceed to treat you like shit cause of the label, you can show how non-angry you'll be about being actively misrepresented.
I don't think there necessarily needs to be any 'rehabilitating'. As with atheism, there's nothing wrong with the core concept, it's just that not every atheist wants to be openly labelled as an atheist. People associate certain 'tudes or behaviours with those that wear the label with fierce pride, right or wrong.I more or less agree with this. I mean, I am obviously not personally concerned with being considered brash and confrontational, but I guess people might. I also think that if you want to rehabilitate feminism, the best way to go about it is to go be a reasonable feminist, but I understand that people on average don't want to get too involved.
Yeah, sorry, I wasn't trying to form part of a larger narrative. But I would note that that doesn't seem to be what he's talking about in the post I responded to.
He did work, and then rested, and then he worked again. Twice in the same thread. That's why Blasty became a symbol, because he was spared in the first round and thought he was safe, but didn't escape the second.
gaf too strict nowadays? i don't think so. i remember years ago i was constantly banned here for stuff i would say at other forums.
My view: That's because Devo style of posting can be very nerve racking. A lot of people say stupid shit here at GAF that's insults the reader's intelligence, but Devo use to literally drop insults in every single debates she was into. She was doing that for a long time and I couldn't believe that mods weren't banning her because I didn't remember anyone else getting away with that style of posting. I'm certain a lot of people here share my view about her past postings. The fact that Devo is brought up in threads that have literally no bearing on her whatsoever supports her claims. Yet, through time, seeing her posting in a much respectful manner in a variety of threads changed my opinion about her.
That's my 2 cents about this subject.
I don't recall anyone being as aggressively insulting in a constant basis as Devo used to be months ago.A few months ago the Mods really stamped down on that kind of posting and many people who were doing it were banned for a month, including me. It wasn't just Devo 'getting away with it'. Plenty of people were doing it pretty consistently.
In light of recent events, what do you guys prefer:
1) Letting a thread run so that all the stupid people/opinions collect then execute them all and potentially bringing the thread to a close.
-or-
2) Banning a dude stepping out of line early so the topic may get back on topic.

Well Bish did say months, so even if it's not perms there are definitely a lot of people who've gotten put away for a long period of time. I wouldn't be surprised if some were perm'd, though.Juniors are probably gone for good, but I don't think any posts were bad enough for a perm. That thread is lucky Bish decided against a round 3...
16 or so months for me. Can't imagine getting approved in 2 fucking days, lucky bastard.2 years? That's crazy, I had to wait around 9 months to get activated.
You´re not comparing a manga thread in which has no effect whatsoever on society to topics like the ones i am talking about, which has a huge effect on society. Are you? This seems more like an issue of personal allergies than Devolution really being at fault.
Heck, I get pissed off any time I see you post about anything because I find your way of posting just that. Aggressive, obnoxious and insulting. That's not so much because you try to be, or necessarily are, it's because your entire way of debating/talking is in a personal allergy zone for me, I wouldn't like what you said even if I agreed with you
. (I actually had this with Amir0x too.)
Devolution calling someone sexist is about as "bad" as you calling a whole bunch of guys in the manga thread "trolls" or questioning people's genuine motives all the time.
It always fascinates me when people who have relatively aggressive posting styles themselves get so upset with Devolution or whatever.
Lol, as if i will fall for your tricks. Accusing someone in sexism to further your point. Bwahahahaha.People have no problem with my aggressive posting style, but I have a wiener so I get a pass.
And here I thought I was lucky for having to wait 2 days...
Pretty much this. You guys are WAY to sensitive about Devo. It's like some weird underlying feminist fear boils to the surface just because she's confrontational.
HALF THE POSTERS ON NEOGAF ARE CONFRONTATIONAL. I seriously think she gets singled out because she keeps that side of her mostly confined to gender issues. But seriously everybody... you're coming off like you have PTSD from dealing with her in threads, and she's far from the most confrontational poster on this forum.
I get that she can be kind of annoying at times. My example is making a joke in a thread about poop that women not having couches in bathrooms means they have to do drugs in the stall now. She replied with a comment about how it's unfair that they can't breastfeed on couches anymore... which didn't need to be explained to me, personally, and I read it as condescending at first.
Then seconds later, I just let it go, because here, in this context, there are probably a couple thousand ignorant young men who would never have made that connection in the first place. I happen to know what those couches are for, a lot of people don't, and she doesn't know me, so why get annoyed? I went right back to bullshitting in a thread about poop, instead of crying about how mean that horrible Devolution was to me.
Just saying. I find the support group whining about "confrontational styles" far more annoying than anything confrontational posters actually post. Especially when they center on a poster who isn't half as condescending as countless others here.

The mods were probably not visiting that thread. They aren't required to visit every thread. It's why the gypsy thread went unnoticed for a while, and it's probably what happened here.
As a result, once the thread is noticed, it's locked and mass bannings occur. In this instance, bishoptl saw it and felt that it was so bad, that he had to sticky it, too.

The Lost City of Z.
A little while after it, he posted a thread about it, which I necro-bumped when I finished reading the book with my impressions.
He hasn't become an in gaf meme for rage?
Edit: above post is a good post.
Perhaps this is wrong: The current "feel" I get from GAF OT overall is kind of a clash between people who operate as gaffers with a human persona, and people who treat this place like the usual anonymous internet playground. It's made for a very strange atmosphere in recent months. I've certainly been a bit confrontational with people on here, but I can't think of a single thing I've said that I wouldn't say in real life, and many times I've come to learn from certain posters on here (even our infamous, late Manos) that matter to my "real-life" self.
I'm talking about general posting style, doesn't matter if it's about manga, social issues or games. The way you post and argue is very similar in all of them from what I've seen.

No. Manga thread has no effect on society and as such the posting style there does not matter much as long as you follow Neogaf FAQ.
