IGN has video of iOS dual analog Bluetooth controller that works with Gameloft games at least 5 of them so far, Batman isn't one of them yet. Looks decent $70 though, sorry don't have the link was viewing it through the iPhone IGN app. If they got most of their games running on it I might buy it.

Just finished Bastion and I am super impressed with both the game and the port. Nothing on the immediate horizon that has me really excited though :( I guess until Star Command or the next Walkimg Dead episode come out.

Okay, the Last Express - seriously what the fuck at that ending. It was going so well and then... That. I won't even put it behind tags since people playing it should really experience it for themselves but... That was a very silly way to end a serious game. The journey to get there however was most enjoyable, I would recommend it. And then come here and bitch about the ending with me.

i know this isn't the most popular genre on gaf, but with so many shitty korean action rpgs on the market, any stand out to be good?

Keeping in mind that just about every KRPG is going to be a grindfest with a low frame rate, there are a few I enjoyed.

I really enjoyed Queens Crown, it had a nice skill system and I liked the mechanics of how it played. It was also a little more focused, in the sense of story/progress, than some of the other KRPGs I’ve played.

Crimson Heart is also really good. It’s the only KRPG on the app store that runs at a nice framerate.

Crimson Gem Saga as mentioned to you earlier is Korean, but it's not an Action RPG. It's a very good traditional RPG.

Aren't there a ton of different endings? Could it be that the ending you ended up getting just sucked, while the other ones are less...bad? Maybe I'm just rationalizing - I'm eventually going to get it and it's disappointing to hear it has a poor ending.

EDIT: Also, how did it play? Were you on iPhone or iPad?

I wish there was a filter within the App Store to see which games have proper iPhone 5 resolution support.

Ski Safari's most recent update apparently included the above, and I'm really enjoying it once again. Not much I'd change about it, and it really nails the simple design that works best on the platform I think.

Which ending? I saw 3. And I liked the one that ends with the credits, which must be the true ending.

No, I think it was THE ending - I had a few falsies and they're just a diary entry that takes you back to a previous time so you can keep playing. This ending had a denouement and closure, it was just an insanely dumb deus ex machina that wasn't set up in the rest of the game (that I saw) at all. The character stuff and political intrigue was all great though, but this was really dumb.

I played on iPad 2 and it looked great and was fun to play once I got used to the anachronistic movement. It's a very ballsy and fascinating game, I wish there were more experiences like it.

I'll try to keep this as nebulous as possible but my issue is with the contents
of the egg
. I mean, WTF? If you can point to a conversation that set that up then maybe I just missed it, but it came out of nowhere and pulled me right out of it. The game was grounded a real all the way, and then they throw in
supernatural bullshit
right at the end, so dumb. Robert and Anna's arcs were nicely ended though.

EDIT: maybe it would have gone differently if I had
given Kronos the egg in the mid-game rather than giving him the gold

Spelltower is my absolute favorite iOS word game, I highly recommend it.

Blockoban is the best puzzle game on iPhone.
WordFeud is the best free Scrabble game.
SpellTower, as mentioned, is awesome, probably the best word puzzle.
WordJong, because if SpellTower is the best then this is definitely the second best.
Enscripted, then, would be the third best.
Tetris is horrendous, don't let her download that.
Marblenauts
Save Toshi DX is lovely
Trainyard
Triple Town, kind of
Scribblenauts (words!)
Slice It!
Pathpix is a fantastic drawing-style puzzle
ORBITAL
Cat Physics and...
Cave Bowling, which are both excellent Donut games.
Cut the Rope, obviously.

You say she doesn't like action-oriented stuff but that's exactly what Tetris is, so you could try Zookeeper (and Zookeeper Battle) and ZONR, which might be up her street.

My mother loves Scrabble, Boggle, crosswords and Sudoku so word games really appeal to her.

Most of her games are gifts from me as she finds the App store a bit daunting -- too much choice!

Out of all the games I've gifted her, the games she's hooked on the most are:

W.E.L.D.E.R -- this is her favourite because it's quite challenging and has a lot of different letter swapping mechanics
Bookworm
Wurdle
Quarrel DX
Spelltower
Bejeweled
Big Bad Sudoku Book
Cryptograms

and she also enjoys completely destroying me at Words with Friends.

I thought she might like Pixelogic or Oh! Cube, but she found the controls of Oh! Cube too fiddly. Any kind of game or app with fiddly controls / poor UI she ditches almost immediately.

ETA: I haven't found a decent Tetris yet. But, for a Tetris like game, Unify is very good. It's by the same developer who made Spelltower.

Thanks guys! I knew gaf wouldn't let me down :D

Did I miss all the fuss over Delta App Updates in iOS 6? It never bothered me much before, but I'm not going to complain that 300MB+ app updates download in a few seconds now, instead of downloading the whole thing in their entirety.

Edit: This probably also means for 1-2GB apps, you no longer need 2-4GB to install them.

To those that play Super Monsters Ate My Condo, any tips on how to get a high score?

I'm not the greatest, but there are some really good tips in the "How to Play" section from the main menu. Knowing your condos and monster powers is a good start. To be fair, the game's challenges do a good job of steering you in the right direction.

Wow, really? That sure will be nice.

Anyone know offhand how much more space the new OS requires over 5.1.1?

Hard to comment since I have never held the thing, but that looks like it would be really uncomfortable to hold. The price point, lack of supported games and the nagging feeling that they are gonna overhaul that terrible controller design in six months totally turn me away from this thing.

I agree it looks pretty crappy, but perhaps the Gameloft partnership could lead to more unified support down the line than similar controllers recieve. That's probably the best one could hope for with this. IGN has quick look at it:

Mentioned it back when iOS 6 came out but no-one seems to notice it, due mostly to the fact that Apple has not mentioned it at all publicly. :P It's very nice indeed.

Everything about this picture is hilarious. Almost as hilarious as an $80 controller that only works with Gameloft games.

How is The Walking Dead on ios? I have yet to play through them but tried episode 1 on PSN and was floored.

It is fantastic. The controls are great and the interface works flawlessly on the new iPad.

Unfortunately there is a pretty serious (4 week?) lag between when the PC episodes are released and their arrival on the iOS...but it doesn't matter to me; I wouldn't want to play it any other way. I had NO problems paying $20 for the full thing.

Anyone have experience with the Walking Dead on iPhone? Just wondering how it plays on the smaller screen (I don't have an iPad).

Also, I noticed Sword and Sorcery is available on iPhone now as well (I thought it was previously iPad only). Wondering how that plays on a phone, too.

I played S&S on the phone first and it works fine. In some ways it's better, since the combat works better on a single-hand device.

I thought the delta updates were only for OS releases. Not for games.
