Just one question: what's a good way to remove printed details from a Lego block?

A soft cloth and toothpaste works pretty well I found, you need to rub it for a bit and apply some pressure but it will come off. Another option is Brasso which is a lot faster but it stinks and you have to wash your pieces pretty well afterwards.

Any B-Wing sightings?

Built all but the wings and stand now but I'm at work so can't take pics. I don't mind builds where you have to do things twice as it's still fun and in this case gives some really good ideas for future mocs.

I'll do some pics later when I get home but all in all I am happy I got it now rather than waiting and if it ever goes below £100 I will buy more than a couple extra. Don't know how I'll find space if it gets to Startfighter UCS pricing....... but I will.

The Horizon Express designer video, now with 100% less shaky-cam:

Train looks awesome.

Semi-related: What the hell have they done to the intro music? I loved that music, now it sounds like a Cartoon Network commercial.

Edit: Actually watched it now. Hell yeah, I'm definitely going to grab at least one of these.

Wow! So, I just finished that huge lot I got a month ago. All my free time has gone towards separating it and organizing the sets. It broke down into about 123 individual sets. 25 left over plates and 13 extra lbs of parts, animals, figures and odds and ends. Wow. I think I'm done buying large lots for awhile.

Any tips on doing this efficiently? I have to do the same thing although my lot is probably 1/3 to 1/2 the size.

Crappy phone pics of the Haunted House build I just finished last night, not sure if I should get a set to display next to it or not, any recommendations in the Monster Hunter line?

http://imgur.com/a/TbwsB

I know that the Werewolf tree will be in the front courtyard of mine. :)

As for other Monster Fighter sets, the Vampyre Castle is highly recommended by some on here (I havent gotten it yet). I have the Werewolf, Zombies, and Frankenstein set. The zombies one is really cool actually, and has the best vehicle of them all.

And I would recommend hitting up Target and snagging a bunch of ghost polybags. Cant have enough ghosts at the haunted house.

I might grab the Zombies and Werewolf sets today, perhaps another ghost or two (I just have 1 extra right now). I thought about the Vampyre Castle but may save that for next year since I'm buying the new Winter set from the Lego Shop after free shipping kicks in on the 15th.

Got that Haunted characters set but it kinda sucks that the minifigures limbs are a bit...loose as in they don't hold stuff very well and the items are loose in their hands. Alas...

I noticed the same thing. A little disappointing that the quality isn't there on that kit. The zombie suitcase and witch broom are the biggest culprits.

What are your Top 3 essential LOTR sets? I'm thinking about getting these:
9472 LEGO Lord of the Rings Attack on Weathertop
9469 LEGO Lord of the Rings Gandalf Arrives
9473 LEGO Lord of the Rings The Mines of Moria

I've only got one, but I'm a big fan of the Shelob set. Building the legs is a bit repetitive, But the finished model is cool and the 3 mini-figs are great (+Gollum exclusive until the Hobbit sets come out).

I do love the look of the Gandalf Arrives and Weathertop as well. Might get those eventually.

The most important question: have you secured the Death Star yet? Is the circle complete?

Also, I have finished the details for the grounds around my Haunted House. Now to build the fence to go around the large area. When complete, I will be uploading pics. So excited to finish this thing off.

I totally missed this. Did you buy some huge lot off ebay or something?

Also just finished building the SSD, took me probably 12-13 hours total. So good.gif

I spent $150 on a local Craigslist find. It was a beast of a find. I just finished ordering odds and ends missing from the sets off of Bricklink so they'll be 100% complete very soon.

Nice! I've looked on craigslist a few times locally for legos, but usually there was nothing, or just one set at just under retail that I already didn't care about. That's pretty awesome though.

It's definitely timing and luck and location. I live in LA so there is a giant population to pool from. That one was the best I've ever had though.

Not quite yet - I haven't been up to the LEGO store. That will be soon, though. Very very very soon.

You got Moxie, kid!
I really like the look of the Town Hall modular, but people seem really lukewarm on it. Any thoughts? I have Pet Shop (which my son and I love - I had fun building it, and it has high playability for him), A VERY good friend got us Grand Emporium, which should be here soon. I don't know if Town Hall would be a good next purchase, or if I should go with the popular winter scenes. Any advice?

I am assuming you have Fire Brigade. If not, buy it NOW! As for Town Hall, it is an okay build until the roof, which is brilliant. But when done it looks awesome, especially when lined up with other modulars.

I keep hearing how great Fire Brigade is, but I saw one review that made it look not so great. My son does love fire trucks...

What makes the set so great? I love detailed interiors, and Town Hall seems to have that going on.

Well, for one the set will disappear soon. If anything, you have lots of MOC pieces. But there are tons of cool building techniques in, like sections going in upside down, etc. and if you want interior detail, the second floor of it is my personal favorite. The less known the better.

Nearly everyone here will tell you to go fire brigade first. Town hall last.

Back to pouring over the Lego website!

My son would go NUTS for the Fire Brigade...

Wow, got my Wal-Mart order already. Faster than I expected. Going to have to save that one for a rainy day though. Mine also came in a box and I only mention this because someone said they got their shipped with just a label slapped on it.

IMAGE BOMB COMING!

I finished up the Haunted House additions tonight. Forgive the crappy pics, for I am tired and will get better ones when I am more focused. I am just excited to show this off.

The five plates that make up the grounds. The largest is of course where the official Haunted House set will rest. Ignore all the random tiles on top. I knew they would be hidden, so I used tiles I knew I would almost never use in another MOC.

Left side of the house. The perimeter fence even has a few spears to have some impaled bodies on. I will do that once I dig out all my figures again. Can you see the secret of this piece?

Front left fence area. I took off some of the bottom of the Werewolf tree and added a few more vines to it. A nice creepy tree for the Haunted House.

Front right fence area. I took the two tombs from the Zombies set and cut out the gear between them.

Even though the gear is no longer there, I kept the bracing bar connecting them. Now you just push back on the top tombstone and...

ZOMBIE SURPRISE! The official Zombies set does this if you dont have it, but you turn the stone on the main set to open the graves. Cutting it down let me fit it on the one narrow end of a half plate.

Right side steps. This is to connect to the side door of the house.

Put them all together, slap the Haunted House on top of the hill, and voila! But what of the secret of the pool next to the house?

A glowing portal to the depths of hell!

A ghost, with all lights in the apartment off. The glow does show up rather well.

A WILD SHELOB APPEARS!

Cue dramatic lighting for Shelob and the werewolf!

The display is easily broken apart and held together with technic pegs when needed. The Haunted House itself rests on flat tiles so I can slide it on and off at will if I ever want it by itself or to open it up.

Now for the next few weeks to add zombies and dead monster fighters to the display!

That looks awesome phon bone. I love my Shelob, I was going to build my Kreo Optimus in robot mode and recreate that one episode from G1 Transformers where he fought the robot spider. I should pick up the monster fighter werewolf set to get that mini fig that looks like the guy from that episode to.

I can't find the post but did someone say Lego.com would have free shipping again later this month? I signed up for VIP but i'm just waiting for the best possible time to order the the Winter college. Do you still get the free zombie car to?
