PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Despite vaguely teasing it a few days beforehand, they didn't actually do midnight release... so now we wait. It could go up any time, maybe even after midnight eastern time. But do not mention anything about this being unprofessional, as you might be labeled an entitled, petulant whiner.

"Day 1" release! (possibly, maybe... certainly if you're on the west coast)

Ah ;(. Hopefully the US kinks are worked out by Dishonored then. As for the store differences, I can't complain too much since the main reason I have PS+ is for cloud saving.

I knew Gaf's favorite word to misuse would creep it's way into a PS+ thread eventually.

Shit who am I kidding it's probably been here before since + has sucked for months now.

God bless the people still defending this. It's just as mind-boggling as the shit PS+ content we're getting, but bless you.

Entitlement, lol

Sony's divisions are competing against each other, guess its only fair that Sony fans are arguing against each other too
SCEA is competing? Doesn't really seem like they give a shit.

I actually don't see what is so wrong about feeling entitled in this case. One region is clearly getting more benefits than the other. Why should people not feel jealous about that? Why should people not speak out their mind?

It's not like PS+ is free too.

We'll see if they can keep the same level of PS3 releases with added Vita stuff now or if they'll just cut back on the PS3 stuff, which would make it worse for me since I don't want to buy a Vita.

Of course with the US PS+ standard of releases lately I suppose no cuts are necessary.

We've gotten a lot of stuff since June... Scott Pilgrim, Outland, Borderlands, Walking Dead 1 & 2... I dunno, to each their own.

I keep hoping PSone games make a return to PS+, as they'd actually be able to act as a Vita/PS3/PSP benefit across the board. I'm expecting PSP game discounts, though. Which would still be cool (assuming they're worth while).

I have a feeling at least the US will be getting an Assassins Creed game (Probably the 1st). Ubi isn't going to lose many sales and they can promote ACIII.

See, those games are good but I think a lot of use were expecting more retail titles every month. Now it seems only the EU side is fulfilling that. We were getting plain old downloadable titles every month pre-e3 too, before this new PS+ initiative they're trying.

I don't like to use the E-word much, but seeing so many people complain about their $4.17 a month like they're getting ripped off is surreal. It's really proof to me that gamers will complain about anything. Literally.

It really is understandable people would want more after seeing what Europe is getting, but I can't objectively say PS+ in NA is a ripoff. I mean, PS+ in the states is actually pretty amazing, if you ask me. I have nearly 80 games on my PS3 and a lot of them are due to Plus.

I'd gladly take any Assassin's Creed game (except 2) they want to use as a promotion. I'm kinda surprised none of them have been part of PS+ so far.

They always seem to go on sale. I figured it'd be the first since I doubt many people are still buying it, they've already given it away with Revelations and the Ezio trilogy is coming out. Ubi seems to be on board with PS+ too with Scott Pilgrim. Thought I'm sure you're gonna get "no trophy" complaints

The grass is always greener. Its seeing Europe that hurts. US ps+ is still an amazing deal and there have been new retail games since launch (Borderlands).

I suspect much of the Vita offerings in the future will just be that whatever game is on the PS3 Plus will also be compatible with the Vita. This might not be the case immediately, but in a year's time I'm guessing we'll see Playstation All-Stars and Sly 4 and things like that. One game, both platforms.

I just can't see how Sony can make money off the service if they actually add more content to it. I don't see how they make much money now, with all the devs/pubs they have to pay for every offering (even if it's just two or three bucks per download). Which is why the complaining is so ludicrous to me.

It's $6 a month for me since I do 3 months at a time. And I'm not satisfied with paying to get a few shitty PSN games that I would never take time to even look at on the store by myself while my EU friends are rolling in the full retail titles. I don't think that makes me entitled but truthfully I don't really care. I'm just tired of paying for garbage.

Please explain to me how the word "entitlement" should be used. Please.

And yeah, who are you kidding? There was a thread just the other day about how incredibly satisfied people are with Plus, yet you seemed to know the word-which-shall-not-be-spoken would be used in this thread. Is that because you know deep down how much whining goes on here?

I don't think Sony is paying that much to the publishers to get the games on. I think a lot of it is promotion like borderlands out right before borderlands 2. I'm sure a lot of people forget to download the games as well.

Or how about Hustle Kings, Sound Shapes, etc? Later down the line, I mean.

30-50% off PSP games would actually seem very likely and appealing, too.

You might be right. I would love to know how it breaks down. I also suspect a lot of the idea is to try and get people to buy DLC.

But even if it were .50 for a PSN game and buck per retail game, that still can potentially cut their revenue in half. I guess that could mean Plus works more to get people active and anchored in the ecosystem more than anything else.

I think the PS+ for vita will be a lot of PSP games and PSone classics. I can't see them giving way too many actual Vita games yet. I wonder if I'll be able to get the Vita games even if I don't have a Vita yet and just download them when I get one in a years time.

Nope it's because I know how childish gaf can be and how much some people here love to use that word in defense of companies that bend them over. That survey was bullshit too and it only covered an extremely small number of people. SCEA should come over here and ask us how satisfied we are.

As of yesterday that is exactly what I am doing.

I have a feeling the sales give them a boost as well. And I think the bigger boost is Sony getting people interested in buying the digital versions since I'd imagine their margins are bigger than retail.

I could easily see stuff like Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, Reality Fighter, or Little Deviants up as the IGC. PSP and PS1 being part of it is a good guess too.

1. Didn't say how "the E word" should be used.

2. Sony is "bending us over."

You're my favorite poster.

I'm not sure AC1 would be particularly good at promoting any AC game that came after it :-)

I love AC 1. I'm probably one of the few. I loved the middle east cities. Though the game was REALLY repetitive. I also played it on the 360 and heard that version was much better.

I don't see them putting up more than one or two of those type of games less than a year after launch especially in the middle of the holiday season.

I know AC1 has its fans, I'm not actually arguing it as a testament to the quality as much as I am how much the series has changed since that.

If you *really* like AC1, you may not like the later AC titles. And if you really *don't* like AC1, the later AC titles might be much more up your street.

I wouldn't use it at all on here since apparently it's a bannable phrase now, and rightly so. It's very dismissive of people who pay money for something and expect quality. It's been used like that relentlessly on this site ever since the ME3 ending fiasco.

I bet there will be one "real" Vita game early on to hook people, similar to the E3 PS+ offerings.

I can't imagine many people liking the first but not the later. I can though see the first turning people off from trying the rest.

I'm surprised people are complaining about Borderlands being given out recently on the US PlayStation Plus. I hadn't played the game prior to downloading it a few weeks ago. I've been glued to the game since then. It's truly a worthy game, and I appreciate that they were able to make it available. It was also a great way to generate interest in the sequel.

First you said it was misused, but now you're saying no one should ever use it. Not a very defendable position, just like your stance on Plus.

I'd argue that it's dismissive of people who pay money for something and expect quality far in excess of what they paid for.

I think the problem here is that the US Plus, I'd argue, seems to be about worth the asking price. A few bucks a month, a couple of free games, not too bad. The problem is that the EU Plus is - again, in my opinion - offering *far more* than the asking price would suggest, which is in turn causing people to see the US offering in a poor light.

Viewed in isolation, US Plus might not be all that good for you personally, but I think it's worth the asking price. The problem is that people aren't viewing it in isolation, because there's effectively a competing version of plus offering far more.

However, as I briefly implied in the previous thread: You *do* have access to that competing version of Plus. It's not like the situation in the 90's where EU got stiffed and we didn't have (reasonable) access to the US range of products. You do have the option of taking your business elsewhere, as it were, and reaping these awesome benefits you're jealous of. However, that's not much help for existing subscribers.

If a game is old (for differing definitions of old, like "no trophies"), it's unworthy. If a game is PSN-only, it's unworthy. If it's a previously-BD-only game that came out within some nebulous number of months of the present day from a top-tier publisher, there is at least a nonzero probability that it will be found acceptable.

It's all quite difficult to keep straight, really.

The only standard I've applied for the games I've received from PS+, either gratis as part of the service or at discount, is whether I enjoyed them.

I can't imagine many people liking the first but not the later. I can though see the first turning people off from trying the rest.

I've seen a few in AC threads. While I don't agree with their overall sentiment, they've got valid points; the streamlining of the game has removed a lot of the interesting planning aspects to it.

Yeah, it's the sort of game (FPS) that I wouldn't ever buy normally, but I gave it a go recently because it was free on PS+ and I'm loving it. I will probably buy the sequel once I've finished.

Why are people who expect the SCEA offerings to be as good as the SCEE offerings suddenly 'entitled' whiners?

Why doesn't EVERYONE expect that?

Because some people are happy with getting a couple shovelware titles a month, apparently. Not sure how anyone can defend SCEA here but SDF never fails to amuse.

"Shitty PSN games" is the reason I bought a 3-pack of 1 month subscriptions. Pretty sure I'm enjoying Outland more than any of the retail games that have been offered so far.

So yeah, everyone play Outland! It's great, except apparently you can't run away from bossfights, which is annoying when you're stuck against a stupid dragon.

I would have to buy Bulletstorm just as it comes up free for Plus members.

Thankfully I haven't opened it. Great update for Europeans.

Bulletstorm is really nice. Was already interested in this and was going to rent it.
No intention to replay RE5 since i completed it on PC and have enough of it.

The US / EU disparity is really strange. Let's see if someone from SCEA will explain/defend it in an interview.
Poor US-Blog guys are going to get flamed hard.

It is a great addition to PS+, but I'm having a hard time going back to it . Playing the game solo is kind of empty. Here's some missions. Do them. Oh you're done. Here's some more missions. I don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything.

Probably more of a personal issue.

Why are people who expect the SCEA offerings to be as good as the SCEE offerings suddenly 'entitled' whiners?

Why doesn't EVERYONE expect that?

Because everyone who complains is wrong.

Because people who subbed for one year or more after the great E3 offerings expecting more good stuff and now can't unsub for their money back are unreasonable pricks.

Because people can't have unrealistic expectations of cool stuff being released through the American Plus when that's exactly what's being released through the European Plus.

I guess.

I'm trying to get through it... even bought all the DLC.

But it just feels more like boredomlands.

I did try some co-op, but it was really laggy and completely screwed up my quest log. Suddenly I had 9 million open quests that I guess were from the other players?

Whatever... basically ruined that character for me. I restarted and just got super bored going solo.
