I tried to tell people that Romney is no McCain. I actually thought that he slightly edged Obama. I also found him to be funnier, which is pretty fucking confounding.

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
Moderator sucked...

Both guys kept repeating themselves. talking points...

Mitt kept smirking and promising the world without paying for it..

It was painful to watch overall.

Real Facebook comment:
Lets go Romney! Have to love how Romney is looking straight at Obama and Obama can't even speak back to him! Mitt Romney for president! Lets turn this country around!

Emphasis mine.
Oh jeez. Obama should get a bonus vote to offset this person's idiocy.
OK, not really, but wow.

Mmmm, yessss. Hey GAF, remember when you said Obama was going to kill Romney tonight? Just wait until Ryan/Biden, where people are already convincing themselves that Biden is some sort of intellectual heavy weight, and not the male, DNC Sarah Palin.

Too bad VP debates don't matter much, cuz if they did R/R would win by ten points.

I hope there was a strategy behind the President's soft tactics. Obviously he performed poorly but even the strategy of agreeing often, not hitting hard, and being nuanced seemed like a bad idea.

Romney had the very slight win IMO, mostly by virtue of him not looking as bad as expected. Reminds me of the Bradley-Pacquiao fight where Bradley came out better than expected and Pac was on cruise control.

...hopefully the end result is not the same.

Don't really care about these as they're pretty irrelevant, especially the first one (because you know its forgotten about when the 2nd one happens), but man seeing some meltdowns in the media - particularly Andrew Sullivan is freaking hilarious.

Reality is Mitt needs some #gamechangers. Yeah he won this debate but he didn't win it by a margin large enough to cut down the margins. The notion that this is somehow tied now is pretty ridiculous.

I love how debates are supposed to be a chance for the two candidates to actually discuss the issues and prove why their approaches are best for the country and its people. Sure, it's also an interesting opportunity to see how both candidates actually react when left to their own devices and from this standpoint it's hard to believe you guys who are saying how well Romney is doing. Being the leader of the United States isn't about being the more aggressive, "alpha", or obnoxious of the two. If the man can't even follow the rules or show respect to the moderator and his adversary - what makes you think he'd be any better in a cabinet meeting or foreign summit?

I mean, people are tuning in like it's WWF Smackdown. They just want to see their favorite candidate out smarmy their opponent or make them look bad. It's not a freestyle rap competition. Oh! Such passion! Ridiculous. Passion shouldn't come at the expense of others. Government positions, especially the president, are positions of service. That's why we call them public servants. Watching Romney on stage just cements the fact that I don't want him anywhere near the Oval Office.

Guys, seriously? This is a huge boost for Romney?

He had to annihilate Obama to move the needle. Romney was able to hang with Obama on appearances. I'm not sure that counts as a victory, unless the bar is so fucking low that mere competence is to be celebrated.

We totally know Biden isn't going to be bored. He's going to yell yell yell.

Feels like Bush/Kerry redux right now.

Obama with that prevent defense lol.

Hasn't he ever watched an NFL game. IT NEVER WORKS!!!

Pretty much this.

He needs to start the next debate.."Bitch, shut up and listen for a minute".

Romney did good tonight. Obama will rebound.

Mitt stated no plans really on anything. And Obama didn't press mitt on anything. Let him slide. I don't get it, lol.

Weirdo debate.

Yup, which is why I gave the night to Romney. Good thing it's a marathon, not a sprint.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
Obama looked and sounded like he took a few benadryls before the debate, and Mitt looked more impressive than he ever has. I suspect if anyone won over a few undecideds tonight it was Romney. Hopefully for Obama's sake he recalibrates for the next two debates. He really should have been more aggressive in calling Romney out on his bullshit. I honestly didn't expect Romney to fare so well tonight. Of course, the actual content is a whole other matter, but who gives a shit right......

Holy God, Chris Mathews looks like he just got out of the octogan. I flipped it there and all I saw was him looking like that and going "WHAT IS ROMENY DOING? HE IS WINNING!!!"

Say what you want about Obama, but I preferred his composure and thoughtfulness to Romneys aggressive and tactless performance( he came off as desperate, not passionate) but a debate is a terrible way to gauge a president and their policies if delivery is going to supersede everything else.

The gamechanger is that Mitt Romney is competent. He has not looked competent heretofore. He looked presidential tonight, which, regardless of who "won," is something he has never done before.

I don't think Romney will win, but this was very damaging.

I think that's a reach in all honesty. One debate doesn't change a chain of poor events. This will largely be forgotten soon, and the fact remains is that Romney is short on substance. Add into that, he has limited appeal. It's an uphill climb regardless of how well he may look the part.
