2012 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Don't Use Imgur

A second ago you were babbling on about opinions, now you're pushing yours down my throat.

Practice what you preach.

Remarking that his pictures were less than desirable was opinion. Stating whether or not an image is blurry is statement of fact.

Here's a few shots of mine. I can't seem to tell what is so blurry about them. Maybe a few geometry textures here and there, but the game it self is sharply rendered.

Either way, I'll discontinue this argument from here on out.

These shots are in an awkward Aspect Ratio so that I can have a better FoV than the 65 FoV that GW normally plays at.

More Black Ops; playing around with downsampling this time. These are downsampled from 2880x1620 with ultra SMAA.

Are there any texture mods you are using? I don't remember my BLOPS looking that good...

Its not an opinion, you say the game is smudged and the says it is not (and is right)...

Liking( /not liking) the smudged look the injector gives is a opinion.

Have some no smudge GW2 with forced SMAA instead of the FXAA

Edit:
running at 1080 no downsampling, no sharpening or other magic, the game surely has its flaws in the graphic department but blurrines is only one of them if you use FXAA which you should never do in any game ever... (unless you like the smudge)

Stating whether or not an image is blurry is statement of fact.

What? Must explain why some people couldn't tell the difference between FXAA and non-FXAA. Some people are sensitive to smudge / edge blur while others aren't, however no matter which way to slice it, GW2 has a lot of edge smudging going on which isn't helped by the extremely poor DoF that smudges it even further and the even worse view distance that makes anything looks foggy - So the overall image takes on the glaucoma effect. When people post FXAA shots it's like you've lost your glasses.

Even the people posting downsampled post-sharpened shots can't make it look truly sharp.

And just adding this, as I edited that in;

Secondly, are you new to this thread? It's quite common practice to comment on games, visuals, injectors and whatnot - This isn't the sensitive support group. Nobody is telling people not to post certain games, however it's fair game to comment on them without having certain members throwing a fit.

EDIT: It's a sad state when PC gamers will call that ^ "no smudge".

I do however regret starting this discussion, now people will fill up an entire page of GW2 screenshots to prove the game is sharp as a knife.

Fog isn't smudge.
It's partly a technical limitation, and partly an artistic tool.
Commenting and critiquing isn't complaining.
FXAA, DoF are both options.
My shots aren't downsampled, they're at 1920 x 946.

EDIT: FUCK, I said I wasn't arguing! Whelp, goodnight.

Fog isn't smudge.

Fog gives 60% of the image a smudge effect. The DoF which people use when posting shots are the middle ground of the image, some 10-20% and the rest is fairly normal with the games bad textures. The overall look is smudge, because everything that contributes to that look is the problem.
Commenting and critiquing isn't complaining.

And a second ago you told me to stop complaining, despite commenting and critiquing. Confusing.

FXAA, DoF are both options.

That can reduce overall smudge look but won't eliminate them. However I'm commenting on people's pictures, most people use DoF and a lot of people in this thread use FXAA.

Just because an object in the foreground is normally sharp, doesn't mean a game can't look smudged with all its "technical limitations" and design choices.

Is there a way to put your weapons away entirely in Dishonored so we can see the whole scene?

It looks like Mr. Big was doing this, but they might be in-engine cinematics. The first one most likely is.
Yes, you can holster your weapons at any time by holding down the "F" key (or "X" on the 360 pad).

It's amazing how much difference there is between a console game and the same game on pc running at high resolution with higher res textures. And yet there will always be those who say the difference is barely discernible.

Game looks like shit brah, Quake 2 looks better.

The even more amazing thing is that I don't even think the textures are higher res in MW3 on PC - it's just so much is masked by the low resolution on consoles. It's the same story when you see just how awesome Dark Souls looks with supersampling. Makes you wonder why devs even bother to include so much goodness on consoles that can't even be seen, yet let framerates suffer away.

I'm glad I don't have such a problem with non-traditional art styles.

It looks fantastic.

Love scrolling through all those great pictures and then suddenly the smudged mess that is Guild Wars 2 appears. Yuck.
FYI, 2xSGSSAA does blur things a bit (LOD bias helps, but introduces texture aliasing that I cannot stand), but I'm also using FXAA on top to help further reduce temporal aliasing, even if it's only a tiny bit.

As far as I'm concerned, a little added blurriness is considerably better than any motion-induced shimmering at all. I don't understand how people can play their games with that (obviously fake CG) "sharp" look when there's so much aliasing still happening in motion.

omg. Dishonored. Game of the year so far.

Runs very good on my gtx 670.

You forcing AA Kylen?

It's great to see Dishonored both looks and performs miles better than Borderlands 2. I couldn't even force 4xMSAA in BL2 before the framerate turned to shit.

I'm running 4xSGSSAA + 4xMSAA in Dishonored and the framerate stays at 60 at all times with no stuttering at all. After 20 hours of BL2 this ... is like a dream.

Which bits did you end up using for dishonored ?:)

Dishonored looks great. I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the art style so far.

It looks better than X-Com that's for sure.

Scitek which one of the AA settings are you using? I'm using the "highest" one and I'm not sure if it's just me or v 4.0 might have messed up something for me.

The next to last, I think it defaults to it. It's just SMAA with nothing else. I'm downsampling from 2880x1620 too.
