Hopping on the Black Ops train.

For some reason my head stayed on the gun after the tank shooting bit... Headless Mason!

I find it even weirder now that you can't see your own legs during gameplay..

I just built:

-Gigabyte 670
-i5 3570k
-8 GB ram

All at stock clock. Havn't had the need to OC anything yet. I suppose I'll have to start soon.

Runs almost everything at full. Only Metro 2033 and Batman AC chug up and down with performance.

Looks like I've gotta cop that 670 (or two...yeah right...).

I'm on a i7 2600k right now, w/ 16 GB of RAM and a 570 Twin Frozr (still don't know what that means) and Sleeping Dogs on max w/ or w/o texture upgrade is super choppy. I actually can't run anything at a solid 60 on ultra, but it's smooth enough for me. Something tells me that once I see a solid 60 though, that it'll never be enough for me again.

A 670 is for sure incoming before 1313 releases. And by that time it probably won't even be enough.

Certain games just cripple pcs unjustifiably depending on which settings you use. In the case of Sleeping Dogs, there was one setting that overshadowed them all and it was the SSAO setting, with it set to max it just ruined my shit. Play around with settings, do some tweaking and you'll get much better performance with absolutely minimal visual downgrade in most games.

Great Borderlands 2 shots, -PXG-. Are you using Flycam?

@Sax Russel: Why do you tease me with a space sim and then when I immediately google it, it's apparently another MMO :(

Nope! There's some multiplayer stuff that I haven't looked into, but the core of this (standalone) FreeSpace 2 mod is a campaign set during the recent Battlestar Galactica show. I'm not sure how many total missions there are, I've only played the first few, but they plan on adding more to it over time I think.

lol when I googled it, wikipedia told me it was a space MMO. I thought the HUD looked familiar. Thanks for the link!

Diaspora... man, this was so short *sigh* I really do hope they deliver on more missions in a timely manner. Stupid thing scratched an itch that nothing scratches anymore =(

Okay, I LOVE this DPX shader. It gives the game this tremendously beautiful faux-retro feel, almost like I'm regressing into an older era. My screenshots (in combination with the vignette effect) start to look like I'm taking pictures of some old movie. It's silly, but I LOVE it.

Spec Ops: The Line

Decent port considering the game's budget, but it probably has the most atrocious BINK cutscenes. It's like a 240p youtube video.

Can one skip the pre-rendered cutscenes and still get the narrative beats that people praise the game for?

Just what we needed, an Instagram filter for PC games =P

I shun things like instagram, but I totally loved Mass Effect on the 360's radiant option with maximum film grain.

I guess I'm a hypocrite.

You really should! Sleeping Dogs plays at a smooth 60 for me with some dips here and there. Witcher 2 even runs at 60 at full (with no ubersample)

A 670 should carry you through the rest of this gens stuff, but I dont think it'll be strong enough to handle 1313 and UE4. If I understand it correctly, you'll be talking about 690 territory..
Perhaps TWO 670's will be able to stand it?

settings? I have SweetFX, anything else I need?
The default saturation on SweetFX looks really cool in the foresty areas but it is blinding in the snow.
I use these settings:
Code:
   /*-----------------------------------------------------------.
  /                      Choose effects                         /
  '-----------------------------------------------------------*/

// Set to 1 for ON or 0 for OFF
#define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1
#define USE_LUMASHARPEN 0 //Also sharpens the antialiased edges which makes them less smooth - I'm working on fixing that.
#define USE_BLOOM 0 // Bloom makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost)
#define USE_HDR 0 // Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost)
#define USE_TECHNICOLOR 0 // Attempts to mimic the look of an old movie using the Technicolor three-strip color process (Techicolor Process 4)
#define USE_TONEMAP 0
#define USE_VIBRANCE 0 //Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation.
#define USE_SEPIA 0
#define USE_VIGNETTE 1 //Darkens the edges of the image to make it more look like it was shot with a camera lens. May cause banding artifacts.
#define USE_DITHER 1 //Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts (mostly caused by vignette)

#define USE_DPX 1 //Unfinished - Should make the image look like it's been converted to DXP Cineon - basically it's another movie-like look similar to technicolor

   /*-----------------------------------------------------------.
  /                       Vignette settings                     /
  '-----------------------------------------------------------*/
#define VignetteRadius 1.00 // lower values = stronger radial effect from center
#define VignetteAmount -0.5 // Strength of black. -2.00 = Max Black, 1.00 = Max White.
#define VignetteSlope 2 // How far away from the center the change should start to really grow strong (odd numbers cause a larger fps drop than even numbers)
#define VignetteCenter float2(0.500, 0.500) // Center of effect.

   /*-----------------------------------------------------------.
  /                      Cineon DPX settings                    /
  '-----------------------------------------------------------*/
//I have yet to find good default settings for this .. maybe you can?
float Red = 15.0;   //[1.0 - 15.0]
float Green = 15.0; //[1.0 - 15.0]
float Blue = 15.0;  //[1.0 - 15.0]

float ColorGamma = 1.0f;    //[0.1 - 2.5]
float DPXSaturation = 1.0f; //[0.0 - 8.0]

float RedC = 0.3f;     //[0.6 - 0.2]
float GreenC  = 0.3f; //[0.6 - 0.2]
float BlueC = 0.3f;   //[0.6 - 0.2]

float Blend = 0.5f; //[1.0 - 0.0] How strong the effect should be
I don't use any other tone mapping in those shots - the only things activated are SMAA, vignette, dithering, and DPX.

Man, for being a trick to fake depth by pushing pixels around, parallax occlusion mapping sure looks amazing...

Doom 3 modded is gonna blow BFG just out of the water.

And they probably aren't going to release BFG mod tools for a while, if ever, because it has iD Tech 5 code in it now.

Is there a way to put your weapons away entirely in Dishonored so we can see the whole scene?

It looks like Mr. Big was doing this, but they might be in-engine cinematics. The first one most likely is.

Love scrolling through all those great pictures and then suddenly the smudged mess that is Guild Wars 2 appears. Yuck.

Really need to check out Diaspora, think that could be a great game.

Not that I could tell, but it's on Unreal so there will likely be a way to flycam. Those shots are from the opening of the game, before you receive any weapons.

That's not GW2, mate. That's the Injector. I dislike it, but this thread isn't for forcing our opinions on others, much less visual fidelity.

He obviously is working towards making the game feel/look the way he like it to, and anyone who enjoys the visual aspects of gaming should be able to understand that and appreciate it.

Some people want BF3, some people want CoD, some people want Planetside 2, some people want Killer 7.

on that note, more Planetside!

No, it isn't. I have actually played GW2 and that game is smudged no matter what you do, much worse with FXAA. So unless he developed the game, this isn't pointed at him.

These shots are ACTUALLY, from the same bunch as my last ones. I didn't play too much tonight, work is killing me.

I play it daily, and no, no it's not.

There IS a depth blur setting that you can turn off.

The game, however is solid. Turn off Blur and FXAA and then stop complaining, please.

A second ago you were babbling on about opinions, now you're pushing yours down my throat.

Practice what you preach.

Secondly, are you new to this thread? It's quite common practice to comment on games, visuals, injectors and whatnot - This isn't the sensitive support group. Nobody is telling people not to post certain games, however it's fair game to comment on them without having certain members throwing a fit.
