Dishonored - PC performance thread

I changed the FOV in the folder I was supposed to. I go to the slider in game and it still reads 85 for the top. Would the numbers change in game?

How can I enable SGSSAA with ATI 7970?
EDIT:.

Buy an Nvidia card.

Yeah, tried 10C1...no dice. Probably can't get MSAA working at all. Maybe disabling it might help my SGSSAA performance.
edit: disabling MSAA breaks SGSSAA.

Come on Ex5 you should no better than this.
This method of rendering doesnt like MSAA, and SGSSAA needs MSAA to work perfectly....so you dont really have a choice if you are gonna do work.

You have to use SGSSAA add a little SMAA if you are desperate for more cleaning.

Just change it in the config then play the game, if you go back to the slider the game will revert to the within spec 85.

Running great for me.

One odd thing I've noticed is that sometimes after a loading screen the game will run at a lower framerate for a good 3-4 seconds before returning to full 60 fps. Obviously not a big deal as the game holds 60 fps once playing, but it is a bit odd.

i5 3750K
GTX 670
8GB RAM

Runs at constant 60fps@1080p, everything maxed out, FOV 85 and MLAA.

Game looks fantastic, not sure if I want to hamper with nVidia inspector and get some SSAA but I might up the FOV to 90-100.

It's been a few years since I've had a card that could do this. :lol

I'm using this bit 0x004040C1 for 4xSGSSAA and keep 60fps until the fillrate goes to shit with fog or something, just like with any other game. I also turned SSAO on in the ini, it's off by default for some reason, it can take a second to load in sometimes, maybe that's why. And I upped the min and max shadow res.

Alienware x51

I5 2320 3.0 ghz
6 gb ram
GTX 555 1 gb gpu

Played the intro mission and got 60 fps maxed at 1080p. Had 1 drop to 55 but nothing significant.

Oh shit, there is a way to turn on SSAO? Trying this out as soon as I'm home.

Ok so, in the OT I was asking about having settings persistent in offline mode which somehow resets them to default every start up and the solution to that is to change the settings in the my games\dishonored\dishonoredgame\config\ files and then set them to read only. Which is easy for the controls settings, but I don't know which file (probably the engine) and exact settings to change to basically get the same effect as in-game highest settings minus AA (to set that from Control Panel instead). Also the file/setting for subtitles. Help? I basically need to change subtitles to all, models to high, rat shadows to on, AA to off, I think. I'd also like to change the HUD stuff to be context based, without extra icons, etc, but I guess that can wait until I can play in online mode... Although if you want to help with that I'd want to change the objective markers to off for sure...

I'm getting 45-60FPS at 1920x1080 at max settings (but FXAA instead of MLAA) using the below medium-range laptop:

G870 (built on clevo W870CU)
17.3" 16:9 LED 1920 x 1080 X-Glass Screen
Intel® Core™ i7-720QM 1.60 GHz
4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 RAM at 1333MHz
NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX 285M 1GB GDDR3

I've just edited the .ini to increase shadow res and will see how that goes.

The graphics settings don't seem to save though as I've exited the game twice and some sliders (like FOV) keep being reset. Seems odd.

I have black screen when i'm starting game, like GPU driver wont getting data, it causes my monitor to go to sleep mode.
I dont know why, maybe it didnt unlock itself properly through spotflux, but XCom is working properly ;\

Anyone heard or had similar situation with UE based game?

Great shots scitek, does SSAO butcher performance ?

Edit : oh it does not work :(

Go to C:\Users\Name\Documents\MyGames\Dishonored\DishonoredGame\Config and open the file labeled DishonoredEngine.ini.
bUseMaxQualityMode=True – This removes shadows on non-static objects, and glitches up the specular shading on water at certain angles. Leave it FALSE.
TextureForcedLODBias=4 – High number means lower detailed LOD’s will be loaded at a closer distance than normal. Leave it 0. (Making it a negative number might even make the highest detailed LOD’s last for longer distances, like -2)
bAllowHardwareShadowFiltering=True – Yup, good.
SkeletalLODDistanceFactorMultiplier=4 – Same as TextureForcedLod, put 0.
iType_AntiAlias=32 – This isn’t an antialiasing multiplier. This is a switch for AA modes. It even says it beside the line in the dev comment. (EPpAa_None=0, EPpAa_Mlaa=1,). And if EPpAa_Fxaa= is 2, then that is ignored anyways and FXAA is used.
bAllowRatsShadow=True – Yup, good.
MaxAnisotropy=16 – Yup, good. I’d put it up to 32 if you have the power.
ShadowFilterQualityBias=4 – Bad, same as texturelod. Put 0.
MaxShadowResolution=4096 – Good.
MaxWholeSceneDominantShadowResolution=4096 – Good

Spent the better parts of two days trying to get this game to work - reinstalled the game three times and my graphics drivers twice (even did the PhsyX thing mentioned earlier in this thread). The game flat out refuses to start up, and given how unique my situation appears to be, I suspect it's probably due to something inherently wrong with my computer. Maybe I'll have better luck playing on my laptop.

So I'm trying to increase the FOV beyond the 85 and both methods I've tried didn't work. I even made the ini read only to test and still nothing. The op fov change, doesn't even reflect the slider change in game, it's always at 75. Adding a binding like described here, doesn't work for me either. None of the files have a 65 fov when I switch to that in game, save, then check the ini files. I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong.

I flipped on the basic 2x MSAA setting with Inspector and found that it's a nice medium between the 4x MSAA (which hurts my framerate a lot) and the blurriness and general crappiness of FXAA/MLAA. I drop down into the 40s a lot with 4x, but 2x keeps me around 80+ which is important to me on a 120Hz monitor. I'm relatively unfamiliar with using Inspector, but this is the setting I'm gonna run with for now.

The game seems to have some serious microstutter with SLI. Not something that usaually bothers me, but here it's very apparent. I'm running a GTX 690.

A good way to test it is to pick a point in a room, and then circle-strafe around it. Total slideshow with SLI, buttery smooth running single-GPU. Anyone else seeing this?

(I'll add that the game runs perfectly well on a single GPU, but I'd like to split the load between both to keep GPU temps and fan speeds as low as possible.)

Is there a fix to the fov fix? I notice that if I change the FOV to 95 like I like, I can no longer use the zoom function. It makes a zoom noise, it just doesn't actually zoom.

Bummer. Get a new monitor!

Also, anyone with a 4830/4850/8800/9800 can tell me how this runs?

Yeah, right solution for a problem, especially when i know only 4 games that doesnt support this aspect ratio and one of them is Dark Souls.

Ps. Get a new GPU!

Has anyone noticed that the deadzone when using a 360 wired controller is a bit small? If I'm just resting my thumb on the right stick my head will slowly turn right.

Is there an .ini file where you can adjust this?

Fuck yeah, game doesnt support 5:4 resolution ratio.
Thanks Arkane, now i have a game, i cant properly play...

5:4 works fine for me. What does the game say when you try running it?

I noticed the same thing, my left stick is kinda loose so if I let go of it, Corvo slowly strafes left.

Using FXAA and I think the game looks like crap (i7 3820, 32GB RAM, GTX 690) - should I switch to MLAA?? I guess I have only been through the first 20 minutes but so far I think it's pretty bland.

I have pretty much the same setup as you, MLAA looks a lot better to me, but there are still some jaggies.

Has anyone found an easy way to force alternative AA methods? I have a 690 like sk3th, so just looking for a simple way to improve the IQ of the game.

lul wut

MLAA? FXAA?

Come on, son. Turn that shit off and enable SGSSAA.

Without telling me to buy an nVida card, what are my options for improving the AA on an AMD card (7870)? I think MLAA looks fine but would like to improve it if I can. I suppose I can use SweetFX?

I'm on a 4870 and it runs fantastic. Everything maxed, 40-60 at 1080p, locked 60 at practically anything below that. I keep it below since this game's version of v-sync instantly knocks you down to 30 anytime you dip below 60.

get deeper into the game. IMO this is one of the years best looking games on PC(at least in art direction)

Performance for me is fantastic-

i2500k
8gb
GTX 690
@5760x1080 res

100-120fps

My uber specs:
C2D@1.8GHZ
3GB
ATI 4670 512MB

I'm running well below minimum requirements, but being UE3 I figured it would run well anyway. And it does! Textures on high, models on medium, no rat shadow, 720p+FXAA. I just finished the first mission, framerate fluctuates between 30 and 60fps. Good enough for my aging machine.

Loving the game so far, visual style and animations are sweet. Presentation is top notch.
