Haven't played many IOS games in a few months but I saw one day that Kingdom Rush was free so I snagged it. Finally got around to playing it recently, love the game and love the style of it. I think I heard glowing impressions of it here so I always wanted to try it.

Neither are very good, although little masters is free while Minimon is a dollar.

Little masters has no exploring or movement at all, its just battling.

Minimon is more like a MMO-pokemon although its very rough.

Can't really recommend either one
Alright. Thanks for your reply, that was very helpful. :)

Yes. I think it's the best game on the platform. There are fifty-four levels including unlockable levels, a pretty epic boss battle and an additional twelve "hardcore" levels. Seeing everything isn't all that difficult but completing the game and unlocking everything is really quite challenging. It had a wonderful aesthetic, music and its just really clever and solid. More so than any other iOS game it feels like one of Nintendo's best.

So, yes. You should get it. : )

This game doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves. I think it's brilliant.

Outwitters is fun, and Civ Rev is pretty decent, but I'm surprised there aren't more strategy games on iOS. I'd love to have a port of something deeper like Civ 4/5, or something with the depth and balance of Advance Wars. I know there's a 4x game called Starbase Orion that's well-regarded, I've been meaning to check it out, but overall there doesn't seem to be much in the way of great strategy games. It's not surprising I guess, building and properly balancing the framework for a strategy game is probably more intimidating than making a score attack game or whatever, but I wish we'd get more iOs remakes of classic strategy games.

Have you played King of Dragon Pass? It's a very deep strategy game, but it's played like a text-based adventure. It's best played on the iPad after they made it universal.

I tend to lose myself in the game for hours when I play it at night. So good.

Devil's Attorney...

really weird game. Game is pretty... barebones? It's more puzzle than anything else.

Not too sure what I think about this, but I suggest y'all hold off for now.

Thanks, chickdigger0802. I was going to grab it because I saw someone compare it to Phoenix Wright, but then I remembered it was TouchArcade and hesitated.

Not yet, but I've heard of it. There's a ton of iOS games I want to play, I try to limit myself to spending ~$10 a week so I don't end up with a huge backlog. I'm curious about the strategy games though, I think I'll get Dragon Pass, Orion, or Ravenmark over the weekend.

Dragon Pass is supposedly the best of it's genre. I'm personally just waiting for a sale because I don't really want to spend $10 for an iOS game. It sometimes goes down to $8.

Yeah I bought it for $8, but it's a small discount anyway, I'd gladly pay full price.

It was on sale about a month ago, so you might have to wait a while if you're looking for the next sale.

It's weird. After playing more, I'm slowly digging it.

Pretty much it's turn based battle where you see what your opponent will do. Baddies are humans or evidence, and you have different abilities for each type that lower there attack, hurt their hp, etc.

Each turn you have 9 points and each 'move' cost a certain amount of points.

So... it's pretty much scenario based situations where the order of moves you do will determine if you win or not.

It's nothing like phoenix wright for sure, but it's interesting and quite different from your average good ios stuff (puzzle rpg! 2d platformer! Runner!).

There is also some decent humor with prosecutor and attorney shit talking each other before a case with pretty well done VA.

You can also naturally upgrade stuff and unlock new abilities, and certain cases net you 'loot' that boost abilities.

Does it have IAP or 'social' aspects?

I'm quite impressed with Crazy Taxi. I suspect the vibration effects will be a battery killer though.

I had a 'moment' last night when Bad Piggies 'clicked' with me. I'm really enjoying it now.

At the same time, I realised that Bad Piggies as a brand could become every bit as big as Angry Birds. Imagine how easy it is to sell those two brands to kids! The Bad Piggies and The Angry Birds. The Bad Piggies and The Angry Birds. That shit sells itself.

Ok, so I'm really enjoying Last Express, since I wasn't able to play it back in the time it got out (was busy playing other titles lol), but I often find myself lost not knowing exactly what to do, so I keep knocking on people doors and running from one side to the other of the train! Any tips you can give me?

Also, being real time , in this genre, really amazing and well done!

I've been hiding in the toilets. I suspect my journey is going to end with me getting arrested for murder and stalking.

Is anyone actively playing Happy Street? I've just discovered it, and I need gems!

Yep, still plugging away at it, while waiting patiently for the update (out any day now).

I have more red crystals than I'll ever need, so add me if you happen to need 'em (GC: oipic.) - please mention GAF if you do...I've been getting 3-4 random friend requests per day lately, for some wacky reason.

Could someone link to the 2nd best/GAF's fav. iOS games thread please? Want to make a list of games to get based on them ^_^;
EDIT: ...and what are some good educational apps on iTunes for kids?

Beat Sneak Bandit is indeed excellent!

Yep, I'm yellow gems. GameCenter: [Slade]

Thanks guys. I've added you both. This game is pretty great. Pleased to hear aout a new update!

If anyone else wants to get involved with me in Happy Street, please do add me. GC: ProperChopper

The best game on IOS as far as im concerned. I played that for about 10-12 hours to completion and loved it. If they port it to PSMobile i will grab it again on my vita.

loved it as well. Still find it super stupid that items availability is pure random though. You'd think in the future, it would be easy to google search where to buy shit on your space computer.

Makes guides pointless, and it really doesn't add much.

Still really should pick up the 2 expansions someday.

Add me too "manaxau" I've got heaps of yellow, oipic is a true bro as well always sending stuff and assisting my shops!

Edit: added you sorry didn't see the earlier post

Just bought Topia.

Yeah, me too. This could be huge. A little bare-boned and aimless at the moment, but with updates (world sharing on the inbound, as well as leaderboards and challenges!), this has the propensity to rock. On iPad, it's gorgeous.

Some of my wishes are...

- Foliage/flora deployment
- Seasons and thus, migration
- Herbivores not so defenseless in packs, or at least carnivores back off once having eaten a quota
- Weather
- More beasts, especially seaborne creatures

Here's a screenshot of the iPad version, just a little bit of toying around with the land mass tools.

There was only really 1 or 2 times when I didn't know/have anything to do so I was just walking back and forth. Use the hint system if you get really stuck. It'll give you 3 hints, the third pretty much saying exactly what you should do. The real time aspect as well as the ability to do a lot of stuff that serves no purpose other than to end the story (I love finding new ways to fail) makes it feel way ahead of its time.

I'd love a fully rotoscoped sequel. When the animations are smooth, such as when someone walks past you in a carriage and looks you right in the eye, it really pulls you into the game like almost nothing else.

And yeah, glad Beat Sneak Bandit is getting some love. One of my favourite iOS games.

Aw man Game Center achievements are soo fracking unreliable...

I've been playing they must be fed on my iPhone for quite some time, some achievements never unlocked in Game Center because I was offline, that's bad enought as it is!!
But now I just played it on my iPad (to regain some achievements that had not transferred on my iPhone and now a bunch of previously gained achievements have just disappeared from Game Center all together x(

Me too. I've only done the tutorials and spent 5 minutes pissing around in the Sandbox so far but I'm pretty pleased. Nice & relaxing with a ton of scope for expansion.

Definitely. The basic tools are there and solid as hell, now we just wait for the complexity to be layered in. Really hoping they bring a Sim Life or Evolution: The Game of Intelligent Life-style ballast to it. I really want something like that in my pocket.

The Crazy Taxi port is amazing. Maybe even perfection. Controls well and looks exactly like the original. Solid.

here's my wishlist. Love this game's potential.

animals: while i would love humans, i would be thrilled if they boosted the mating, reproducing, and agricultural sim aspect. my ideal playthrough involves me working weeks to create a sustainable habitat. day/night cycle. breeding. creating barriers within my environment. weather creates ponds for animals to feed and drink, thus creating potential for congregation between species...and, yes, hunting and gathering.

Also, why not take the best parts of spore and farmville? with agriculture and mating, allow us to trade species and raw materials. consider this:

if you add humans, they're powerful, but slow to multiply. they have the ability to build, ie, crafting. they can build caves, forts, and use primitive weapons. tools that we get from farming.

however, there is incentive to play other species as well. birds cover a large area quickly, for example, and find rare materials to build their nests. some of those items on the other side of your continent (migratory patterns) are essential for food for other animals, or even tools for humans whereby they would need crude rafts to reach them and survive more aggressive animals hunting them along the way.

buying IAP eggs for new species, seeds for new harvests, and the ability to 'trade' with other players the items you have created, would be amazing! for example, lets say i mated two compatible species (one from IAP), and created a new preset species that serves a specific "tower-like" function (this species needs water and is protective of nearby water ways making it a pain for other species like man to invade resources). there's a cap on how many of the new species the engine will allow me to make, and theres also a cap on what i campn trade.

random internet Topia friend wants to trade, say, wood with me for a preset number of my new species. lets say that he didnt buy the iap needed to create the new species. solution? Any species traded into a new world where you didnt buy the iap to create it, has a timed or shortened lifespan, and you cannot reproduce/mate them. the trade becomes enticing. we both get the benefits, and somebody (or both) needs to buy iap!

i'm totally spitballing, but the joy of creating and terraforming worlds doesnt change. you can still screw around and manipulate the landscape to gently nudge the fates of your habitat. the coolest thing about spore, however, was the ability to advanced to visit and affect other worlds. What would your toys would do there?

in topia, i can imagine creating an echo system that creates a species of gold crapping predator wolves. might take months to nurture and breed them, but i eventually buy some iap color change skin to make my 'gold wolves' unique, then send my little terrors online. you download my nasty little away team into your world, as they wreck HAVOCK on your species. However, they can die and be hunted if you attack them with your most aggressive species in large enough numbers. why would Anyone want to download these nasty things? because if you can tolerate them, they crap Gold...which is essential and can be traded.

and, of course, the only way to get to the point where you can create gold-crapping direwolves? hard work creating and maintaining your environment, buying new seeds and eggs from the appstore, then taking an rpg-like approach in deciding how you want to strenghten an customize your pets to trade?

how cool is THAT? i want to play that game, and TOPIA s the only thing that can make that happen! Topia's potential is Minecraft awesome!!!!

I don't want Topia to be IAP'd out the arse, though. I'd say bring the base game up to a considerably deep level, then expand with flora or fauna booster packs.

Also, I really want to keep this a pure experience. I think humans would break the 'experiment', if you will. I'd much prefer to tweak and tinker with a pristine world and its fauna.

maybe. I'm just trying to find a way for the developers to make great money on this product. I think fauna will be an awesome addition. However, I still need some good SIM aspects because the engine is so robust. It's so close to giving us a Spore-like experience!
