PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

You're probably not far off.

I'd love to see a true breakdown of the whole process and business plan to see exactly how it works.

Companies spend millions on marketing. This service advertises their games and grows their markets. You can bet Sony are pulling out stats like x% of PS+ users who tried Darksiders went on to buy Darksiders 2.

Of course we don't know for sure, but it is pretty likely putting these games up often costs little to nothing.

Oh SCEE

Could be worse than KoFXIII I'd say. I'll probably try it for an hour like VF5, realize I still hate fighting games, and that'll be it.

So quick question here, just signed up for PS+ today.

I added all of this month's free games to my cart and did the checkout process. The games have the little red shopping bag icon next to them in the store now. I didn't download them all since I'm close to this month's data cap. Do I need to do a full download of each game for them to "count", as in I'll get to keep them when they're removed from the PS+ freebies area? Or was going through checkout enough?

Just completing the transaction is enough :)

You're all set as long as you "purchase" them they are associated with your account. You will see them on your download load if you check, and they will remain on the list as long as you are subscribed to PS+.

People will keep saying to download the games, but just doing the purchase if enough. You never need to actually download them.

Well I did not see that coming, I got the walking dead episodes one and two for free from ps plus, let my sub run out and bought episodes 3 and 4, and I can't play them and use my save apparently since 1 and 2 were plus freebies.

A problem with the way Walking Dead works.

Episode one is the classed as the game, and every subsequent episode is DLC for that game. As you got Episode 1 for free, and can no longer access it, you can no longer access the other episode as they are DLC for Episode 1

You have to either buy Episode 1 or renew your PS+

Yeah, I noticed that too last month when my sub lapsed. Walking Dead views the episodes as DLC and the "main game" is apparently part of PS+.

Exactly what ended up happening, except it was more like half an hour. And I still hate fighting games. I was surprised at how fuzzy the characters were, I guess I got spoiled on Disgaea 4's beautiful graphics.

Get ready to learn about patience.

Oh I'm patient. I'm just thinking that SCEA will put out a "big" game soon to make up for this month, especially in comparison to SCEE's offerings lately. That or the big bang the service needs going into the holiday rush. Something to possibly "celebrate" the new PS Storefront update.

A PSN game that most people bought day one like Journey would fit nicely when sales drop off, and they're giving away Uncharted 3 in the new bundle anyways...

That's a clue it won't be on Plus. Because the bundles also include a month of Plus, so they dont want to duplicate content for new owners. They want to give them stuff that would entice then to buy Plus.

hey, i remember reading about it somewher here on GAF. my problem:

i DL'ed RE5: Gold Edition (had the 1 hour trial-version before) and started the game. Now i just got the message from the XMB that the game version will expire in half a hour.

- i've checked the store to see if i've DL'ed the right version
- i've checked for that yellow bubble thingy beside the game in the XMB (it's not there)
- i've checked if i still have that trial version installed (nope!)

so GAF, what's the deal? what do i need to do?

Is this the thing where you keep playing and then at the end of an hour it says "surprise, you had the full version all along!"?

The same thing happened to me with Saints Row 2. It will kick you out if you let the time expire. Save, exit the game, and play again.

It's a bug that has something to do with the 1 hour demo. It will work normally when you try again.

Since they're giving away Uncharted for new PS3 owners along with a PS Plus trial, there's little chance they'll offer the same game on Plus. Uncharted 1 or 2 would be more likely. As for Journey, the retail release was fairly recent, and it's one of their top sellers. If anything they may offer a discount on Plus to boost sales, but I wouldn't expect it to join the Instant Game Collection until next year, if even then.

yeah i just quit the game to post my question here and it fixed itself. so. somehow GAF helped me to fix this bug! :D

I have a feeling rest of Walking Dead won't go free, maybe a discount at some point, I am going to buy episode 3 and pass on 4 for now since many are saying that is the weakest.

Look what US PS Blog shows:

I would so love this to be true, but Morgan posted this in the comments as a reply:

No, that’s likely a screenshot from a different region; likely EU. The NA Store will of course sport the new look and design and functionality, but to be clear, those screens may not reflect pricing on products as they pertain to NA.

Dreams squashed? I hope not...

RE5: Gold would be sweet since I have a Move to play it with. But yeah, two full PS3 games in one month from SCEA? Not getting my hopes up.
