DJMAX Technika tune (Vita) Features music from KARA.

That's it, US version lands, I'm getting a Vita. This better be worth it...

i was ignoring this but after seeing the vids... that's it... getting it on way home.

By the way, I was able to play this no problem on a crowded train into work today (front and back touch mode). I hold with my right hand (and use it for the back touch) and use my left hand for most of the regular notes. Was able to play no problem, but again, I recommend a wrist strap as you are holding it one-handed (and also using that hand for the back touch).

On the note of back touch, this is the best use of the back touch on Vita yet, hands down. It is awesome. I've had no accuracy issues or anything of the sort. I will still continue to play both ways (front only and front/back) but I am really surprised by how much I am digging front/back mode.

Kara's songs are pretty dull to play, it would have been 100x times better with Clazziquai

Now i'm working on the Dark Abyss Set since yesterday

The game truly shines at the higher difficulties

Did you try the backtouch mode or are you playing two handed in the screen? i would like to know, because too much fingers in the screen would be a clusterfuck with my manly hands lol

Only touch, you'll have some problem the first few hours even at med. difficulties, but as you can see from pro videos, it's just that you'll need to adjust the position of your hands and fingers in the right way, no matter how big your fingers are

@not using the rear pad 'cause i feel uncomfortable playing touch games while holding the Vita

Just got it this morning.
This game is amazing. Music is fantastic overall.
Kind of wish I didn't have to travel halfway across the country to play the arcade cab.

Loving this game but no option to activate fever by using a button is hell.
Also no buttons in the menu is just as annoying.
This holds the game back from being perfect but it is still amazing.

After saw those videos.

I'm not buying the game. no way I can play this.

Watching videos of someone who has probably spent years playing the arcade version on a difficulty higher than you'd probably set it to as a first time player is not really a good buy/no buy metric.

This damn game is sucking my life.

Found my first issue though, i play this game one handed, holding the vita with my left hand, using the back touch, and my right hand on the touchscreen, well, sometimes is really hard to press the fever button correctly, is positioned just in the right corner (quite tiny button), the game does not register your input if you don´t touch EXACTLY over it, in the star mixing mode that´s not an issue, the songs have plenty of space between some notes to activate the fever, but once you start playing in pop and club mixing, you would drop some combos for sure, and that sucks.

Tried playing holding the vita with my right hand instead, and this way seems better, because i could touch the fever button with my thumb...

Some kind of rearranging or remaping option would be nice.

What I do is when I'm using back-touch, I keep the Vita in my right hand and do the touch screen with my left. Doing it this way, you can use your right thumb to press circle which activates fever :) I'm glad it was assigned to a button because I hate trying to press the top-right touchscreen button.

What? i´ve just reached djlevel 40 and didn´t know that circle activates fever too lol, not that it matters right now, i´ve got an autofever note and that solves my problem for grinding combos, but it should be a really good option, will try today

Pardon my ignorance, I haven't been following the news related to DJ Technika for the PS Vita. So I was wondering if it is possible to snag the Limited Edition from US Amazon without paying a premium due to purchasing it from a third party seller?

Thanks!

LE for US was only sold on their website and sold out the same day I'm afraid.

I don't know how it's calculated, but you also get a fever score bonus when fever runs out.

In arcade Technika, Fever is nothing more than an automatic adjustment to the best possible note judgements assuming you still hit the notes reasonably on-beat. The bonus was the difference between what you earned as a result of your judgements being upgraded and what you would have earned for that segment had you not used Fever. So, if you used Fever but still hit everything perfectly, you could very well come out of Fever with a bonus of 0.

Ah interesting. So it keeps track of where you hit the note and differenciates the score? That's pretty cool. It's probably doing that.

Awesome. How are the leaderboards? Do they just rank the top scoring sets?

For Star and Pop mixing, it adds your high scores together for every song and creates a leaderboard based on that. Every time you go in to play a new set you can see how you've gained or dropped and what your rank is on the leaderboard (not sure if they are national or international).

For Club mixing it ranks the top scoring sets.

Haven't messed too much with leaderboard type stuff yet (still grinding levels and getting better) but I do wish you could filter it to only see your friends' scores, which I don't think you can do.

There is the option to publish scores to Facebook, but I haven't tried it and my Facebook friend is mostly family/work/old friends etc so I probably won't.

Waiting for this game to be added to other retailers is making me anxious. I wonder what's the point of waiting until the last minute. Don't they want to get as many pre-orders as possible?

Would they get more selling directly from their store? maybe that's why they are doing it.

I think it's less a matter of waiting and more a matter of convincing retailers to even carry it in the first place. From the sound of it, it's an uphill battle.

If you're in the US, you can preorder from www.technikatune.com with free shipping (USPS Priority).

I would think its not that hard to list it on Amazon. Anyone can put up things there. May be its the price point being higher than average Vita title. Hmmm. I do live in US so I'll probably end up getting it from their site if it won't appear anywhere else closer to the release date but I'll wait since I have credit at other stores.

Sure, they could list it as a generic seller, but Amazon takes a pretty big chunk of money out of items sold that way, and they might not be operating on a big enough margin to be able to afford that. I'm sure they're trying to negotiate something more in line with what they do for other video game publishers.

Wow, are music games that niche now? Did the oversaturation of Guitar Hero really hit the genre that hard?

That and the fact that DJMAX is a pretty niche game to begin with. Hell, Rock Band 3 is extremely hard to come by these days, and good luck finding any plastic instruments for it new.

Good point. I really hope they do work something out with them. This game needs more love.

There are 69 songs in this game right? That's more than any of the other Portables too, which is awesome.

Only 20 more days...

Question for those with the game: Can you unlock everything on easy? Are the hardest songs impossible (for a beginner) even on easy? How does it compare with Project Diva f, difficulty-wise?

If you walk into a game expecting it to be too hard, you're probably going to find it too hard. Get the demo and don't psych yourself out before you even start.

-If you mean with the judgement setting on easy, i guess that yeah, you could.

-There´s nothing impossible, but could take a while and a good amount of practice to beat the hardest songs if you are not into rhythm games, practice makes perfect, but this game is the easiest in the Djmax series by far.

-I´ve not played PDf yet, so i can´t tell, i´ve played the psp ones though, and TUNE is harder.

Yeah, already tried the Japanese demo a couple of days ago and the one song that came with it is so catchy I was sad to switch back to my main account. I have my $50 reserved for when the game hits the US PSN. :)

So I discovered that the Nintendo DS stand that comes with Kid Icarus is actually really good for holding the Vita and playing this.

Yep. The stand was the first thing that came to mind when I played Technika Tune for the first time, it's really comfortable to play with it. Funny, because I found it was useless for Kid Icarus.
