That's nothing more than a rip-off of Azkend. I'm amazed at the length these rip-off devs will go to...and by the way, "Free" for this game means IAP, actually.

Anyways, here's Azkend:

Yeah, me too. This could be huge. A little bare-boned and aimless at the moment, but with updates (world sharing on the inbound, as well as leaderboards and challenges!), this has the propensity to rock. On iPad, it's gorgeous.

Some of my wishes are...

- Foliage/flora deployment
- Seasons and thus, migration
- Herbivores not so defenseless in packs, or at least carnivores back off once having eaten a quota
- Weather
- More beasts, especially seaborne creatures

Here's a screenshot of the iPad version, just a little bit of toying around with the land mass tools.

this game looks amazing.
theres no end goal tho, right? just those games where you can just screw around and destress?

Super Hexagon
Infinity Blade 2
Tiny Wings
Fruit Ninja
wimp: who stole my pants
agent dash
Tilt To Live

hows these for my to buy apps once my iPhone 5 arrives?

Also considering World of Goo, Horn and Sword and Sworcery

Girls Like Robots is fun, there's not much to say about it since you can pretty much get the gist of the game by watching the trailer but it's a cool little puzzle game. For those who haven't seen the trailer, it's a puzzle game where you arrange tiles on a grid. Robot tiles like being next to girl tiles and vice versa, nerds like to be on corners and next to robots and girls, girls don't like to be next to nerds, robots don't like to be surrounded by girls, etc. Tiles are given to you in a specific order (as in you might have to place two girls, a robot, then a nerd) and you try to maximize everyone's happiness. It gets more complex as you go along, the most recent levels I played through have tiles that slide away from each other. It's a lot slower paced then the typical Adult Swim score attack, but I'm really liking it.

Topia has me super excited, I don't know that I'll mess around with the sandbox too much but after doing the tutorials and screwing around for a few minutes I can't wait to see what this will look like after some updates.

At the moment, there's little to do outside of the incredibly well-conceived land formation/deformation tools and spawning creatures, but it bodes well. Some bugs and balance issues include carnivores being hideously overpowered and unstoppable - even amidst herbivore herds in their hundreds - and land deformation causing animals to slide down into the water and drown (mitigated by using the flatten tool to work little beaches into your coastlines), but I hope to high heaven this goes on to be what I *think* it should be.

Anyone know what the difference between Bit.Trip Beat HD and Blitz is?

Not 100% sure but I think Blitz is like a 'lite'/demo version of Beat.

Bit.Tip Beat Blitz is a full-fledged game, has additional levels too IIRC. It's also the game we had one of the GAF iOS challenges on ages ago.

Word of caution though if you have an iPhone 5, the touch zones are completely off when played on the device so it can't be played properly.

Enjoying Devil's Attorney way more than I thought I would. It and Funky Smugglers seem to be this week's winners.

Edit: Reviews of both will be up on IGN early next week.

I know GAF hates on IGN for being the "big guys" (and for other reasons), but please consider that my channel, the mobile games channel, is run by just me. I've been working hard for over a year to build an editorial product that I think can be really useful to serious mobile gamers, with short reviews that have high production values (many fully-produced video reviews) & reasonable, balanced scores:

http://www.ign.com/wireless
http://www.ign.com/games/reviews/iphone?sortBy=reviewDate&sortOrder=desc

You clearly didn't play Girls Like Robots then:) That's my winner from this week (even if the only one I played).

I wouldn't say I hate IGN;), but I do like the IGN mobile channel. While video reviews aren't really my thing, I do like the reviews in general. Much better than another siTe I cAn think of... The IGN Mobile section has come a long way since it conned me into buying Mouse About back in the day. (Which is nothing like Chu Chu Rocket!)

Don't bother with World of Goo. Great game, but impossible on the small screen when your finger covers so much of the screen. It's way too hard to do the small movements you need in that game. Super Hexagon, Fruit Ninja, and Tilt to Live are all good though.

Yeah at first glance I thought it's an Azkend screenshot Great games, I bought both just to support them after playing the first which I would probably be content with. I like how they give it depth with the art and simple text and the bonus like find the area levels, which you can also ignore on replays or when you just wanna play the puzzles, they're not bloating it with real rpg elements etc.

I love the update, more shit to win. This game is friggin crack. I hope they never increase the recharge time though, that will kill the game

So true. Going by the new update it seems to suggest it will remain at 6 minutes.

So far I'm forth in my group :D Adding things like this makes me want to spend all my mobile time on this game. DIS GAME

Well TWEWY certainly has more cutscenes than gameplay, have you tried that? :P

I'll...get that when it's going for 4.99 >_>;

The Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni series (when they cry) is on there in episodes. Bought all of them, huge fan of the series.

A Scar of a Doll is another good visual novel and its available in English.

Bar Oasis series.

Thanks, will look them up on the iStore.

Wow, The Room was amazing! Loved every bit of it, not too difficult, not too easy but... too short! The atmosphere and the graphics really charmed me, I'm eagerly awaiting the next opus.

Craving for more, I bought The Curse that seems less serious, more conventional but really fun ;)

In a different genre, I saw Wonderputt being featured on the AppStore, it's a really pretty minigolf game, nicely animated but ported from the free flash game on kongregate.

Strong truth. Everyone with an iPad should play this, it's almost perfect.

Alright, I'll get it when I get home.

So I bought Organ Trail. The concept is really cool. Are the events after the intro random or do they play out the same way every time? Just curious, it could be highly repayable if it's different in every run but if not it would probably be a one-and-done deal.

It's all random.

Now I know what to do with my final dollar on my account, thx!

Polara looks lovely, bought! Will try it out later.

Holy shit, how smooth is the animation on Polara?!? Buying now. Not sure if the YT 30fps is making it look better than it is, but if it runs at 60... gawd damn.

Edit: Does the game in the trailer remind anyone of the music from Geometry Wars 2? So much so (to me), that I'd be surprised if it WASN'T the same composer. I hope it's in the game.

Polara is pretty good.

think the developer will certainly be heartened by this! a lot of work was spent on the game (the graphics and animations went through a number of iterations! and the music took a lot of work too!)

for the rest, give Polara a try if you haven't! It's challenging and will definitely keep you on your iDevice for some good hours!

It's all random.

Nice. My pal Buttlove just got wasted by a bandit. My one shot was way off. :(

Game seems really cool so far. It's a novel enough take on the whole zombie apocalypse thing to feel fresh and it's tapping into my nostalgic memories of playing hours upon hours of Oregon Trail as a kid. Good stuff.

Yes, but I guess most people care about size rather than sound quality. I guess if you are using crappy earbuds or the built in speaker you couldn't hear the difference anyway.

That and it's fucking 20 year old JRPG music, who gives a shit (besides about 5000 mental weeaboos with terrible taste in music?).

Inflamatory comment for the day

I'd agree with you if it was FFVII music. Chrono Trigger actually has some catchy tracks.

I mean, for an old snes game maybe yeah. But 600 megs worth? No. Well I guess if you're going to spend 40 hours listening to the same loops of the same themes then you might as well have them as pure as possible...

I need to find a way of articulating by disdain for RPG music fanatics beyond "get a decent record collection"

Anyone play the iphone version nba2k13 or the mynba2k app? Heard they let you push VC to the console version but I don't want to burn 8$ just to check.

yeah organ trail owns. it plays out differently each time and I love the charm of it. it's getting content added eventually as wel once the of version is out.

I wish Nintendo would put their old games on the iPad / iPhone.

So far I have: Sonic CD, Chrono Trigger. Are there any other console games I'm missing?

How about the other sonic games? Also crazy taxy was released 2 days ago. Super monkey ball, chu chu rocket. Sega sure loves ios.

It's getting it IF they get through the Steam Greenlight process last I heard, to the point where the dev indicated (according to TA) that they would hold back content until we all support their PC port...

I had already voted for it on Greenlight but I don't like that approach.

That's reason enough for me NOT to buy the game.
