It was pretty obvious to me why Mumei got demodded, particularly as it was right after Evilore uncoiled the rope that was slowly strangling discourse in many threads. He seemed a bit too conservative and soft for the job.

But yeah, as long as Stumpakapow is still mod, GAF is safe. He is a brilliant mod from what I've seen.

I got banned 3 weeks ago by Bishop for calling out the PC brigade ruining threads... Barely a week later, the PC brigade gets the boot and major policy changes are enacted. I guess the mods don't really talk to each other and Evilore just makes it up as he goes along.

Hitokage always came across as very level headed. I don't think the mumei and language tweaks were a major change, more of a common sense adjustment of policy. Certainly nothing that would cause major internal wrangling like you suggest.

I know, 'this is neogaf' but the truth is probably disappointed mundane. Maybe he's too busy with life responsibilities, maybe evilore wants to more to more formal paid staff and that doesn't fit with what hitokage wants, maybe a thousand dull reasons before 'ooh conspiracy'

With the exception of Amirox, pretty much every demod I can remember has come from some kind of internal squabble amongst the staff.


As for language tweaks not being a major change, this is how I see it:

Mumei clearly wanted to ban the word outright, period, end of story, regardless of context. He made that very clear on multiple occasions.

Evilore clearly cared enough about undoing the ban to make a whole thread on it.

It's pretty obvious there was a disagreement.


And look, I like Mumei (though I disagreed with some of his modding decisions), and I like Hitokage. I'm just looking at this as an objective third-party. The proximity of these demods to each other as well as that thread Evilore created could be a coincidence, and they could all be unrelated. Or my theory could be close to correct, and they are all closely related events. Occam's Razor and all.
