Get a child.

As concerned parent you are allowed to be as racist as you want to be. You are able to get away with the most incredible stuff. Because you are not a racist, you are a concerned parent. You don’t want foreigners in your school; just argue that your kids would learn less. You don’t want an open gay / lesbian community in the school; just point out, that it would be bad for the kids. Want certain books to be banned, music to be censored or movies to be cut, no problem. If it is bad for the kids, everything is OK. People afraid of bad press will change those things for you.

It doesn’t even have to be actually bad for the children. Neither scientific prove is needed, nor studies or anything even close to a fact. As a concerned parent you just have to think, that it may be bad for your kids, so it is bad for your kids. You will be a modern day God, your word will be enough to rally armies and it your wishes will be law. Because there will be always others, who are thinking exactly the same thing as you.

You don’t even have to argue for your cause. If there is opposition, they are against kids or family values and NOBODY is argues against family values. As a concerned parent you can pretty much do anything. If your state wants to change school legislation, to make schools more modern? Just argue it is bad for the kids and they will stop everything. You don’t have to be right, maybe it would be even good for the children, but that is not important. Important is only what you feel, if you think it is bad for your children, it is bad for your kids.

So are you are antisocial and want to stop the development of the society. You want to tell everybody else, how they should act. Well good news, you don’t have to become a dictator or a Taliban. Just get kids, it is way easier. And the funny thing, you don't even have to be afraid of a revolution.

I am a teacher and I witnessed all of this from regular parents. Want a real quote:

Undoubtedly. There were some kids at a school right around here that tried to start up a Gay Straight Alliance chapter in their high school a few years back (the kids themselves came up with the idea). Never even came close to getting off the ground... parents (particularly the ones with the most community clout) made sure that the idea was stomped out fairly quickly, and to my knowledge, nobody has said a word since.

OP is correct. I felt like being racist one morning. So I took a shower, made my hair all nice and went out to find me a wife. I seduced her, impregnated her, then a few short months later I began getting away with anything I wanted! It's great! Got my local schools to repeal segregation laws, managed to organize some book burnings. Soon, I intend to run for local political office so that my urges to control everyone can be satisfied on a much broader scale.

As a person who left the high school teaching business due to parents, I can safely say that parents are the fucking worst. I once gave a student an F in a class because he didn't do homework, skipped most of my classes, and never passed a single test.

The parent called the school, filed complaints, threatened to sue, and so much more.

That are just excuses, that may be convenient, but not really a problem.

The real problem is more, as a concerned parent you get away with the most outrageous things. I heard the most racist comments of my life during school meetings. It is mind blowing what amount of bigotry, racism or dictatorship like behavior you can get away with as concerned parent.

Nobody is even questioning it, because its just about the children. Parents are even taking kids out of classes, because there are to many overweight kids in their class and they don't want them to be around with those fatties. I am a fat myself so there were some questions about me as well. I gay teacher in my school was fired. (they argued later with non working relation between the school and the teacher). And all of it, just because some parents were thinking about the children.

You would not believe what parents are willing to do to other kids. Not because it is bad for their own kids, just because they don't like it. In Switzerland a mother wanted to ban the Simpson from afternoon TV because it's not good for the children. Now they have to add a special warning to the show that it may not be suited for younger children.
