Au contraire.

That said, I'm guessing that Ant-Man's costume will be based on the Ultimates version.

I swear people stopped remembering Pym after that. After Janet forgive him, he still punished himself for years. Dude could give Hulk a run at self hate.

hes one of the most self loathing characters in marvel next to mr murdock. but that ultimate ant man shit was beyond fucked.

I actually think Daredevil had given up hating life until Shadowland. Like if you were to give him a baby he would just say YOLO and get on with life. Everything Ultimate is fucked up except Spiderman and the first run of Fantastic Four.

What is Ant Man's appeal? All I can think of is an inevitable scene involving cleavage.

(Edit: the above post kind-of-answers it?)

It's unfortunate, but the sad reality is that IPs like Ant Man and GotG are an easier sell to American audiences than Black Panther.

That's the bullshit.

I don't think that's true.

American audiences have proven time and time again that they'll go see big budget blockbusters with minorities in the main role, but every time it happens, Old Hollywood chalks it up to "well I guess this guy is the exception and not the rule." Every time!

Test footage was great. I was with five friends who didn't know anything about Ant Man and were ready to roll their eyes, and all of them ended up being pretty into the idea. Can't wait for this.

so is this going to be scott lang, hank pym, or irredeemable ant man? my guess would be irredeemable cause wright would be perfect for it.

That BP is a minority isnt the issue, IMO. If BP was a minority character based in New York, the movie would be greenlit already.

Honestly, I think it's a harder sell because of Wakanda.

Yeah, Marvel has even outright said the problem with getting a Black Panther movie started is because of how to create Wakanda.

my friend whos not familiar with the comics at all saw the Avengers cartoon after seeing the movie and when Black panther was introduced he thought it was a joke considering both the characters name and his origin rooted in goofy african stereotypes. Unfortunately I think he represents the general public.

That said if I was in charge of Marvel i'd green light the movie anyway i'm so curious how it will be received by people.

So Marvel finally hired a good director to make one of their movies and that movie is going to be about fucking ANT-MAN?! Fuck off Marvel.

GAF wants a minority superhero in the Avengers, which is fine with me. BP is going to be a tough sell to American audiences, though. But damn, BP is no more B-tier than Ant Man/Dr Strange, or eve GotG.

Hulk has always been popular.

Rhodes was/is important to the IM franchise, though.
I'm all for minority heroes but BP kinda sucks. His powers are lame and he's a king to boot. I just don't get the hype. They should have mentioned wakanda in cap America during the shield scene. Have they mentioned adamantium at all?

Nah people been wanting BP for years, ever since snipes pulled off blade it really got into a frenzy, but of course Wes being Blade and T'challa was troublesome.

have you read any of the comics? BP is staple marvel whether in his own runs or team books/guest appearances. People want him because they like T'challa, it really hasnt been about who has cool powers for any of the marvel movies. Its been about the characters we want to see brought to film.

Black Panther is gonna happen in Phase 3. Marvel wants to make this character big, and I think that if they see they can sell movies with a talking raccoons and shrinking men, they'll be willing to take a risk on "africans with computers."

To be fair, EMH's Wakanda was pretty bad.

I want to see a Wesley Snipes vs. Nick Fury movie. It would be the manliest film of our generation.

Yea when they make the movie I hope they keep out all that "african savages" nonsense

I am pretty sure Joss Whedon, Kenneth Branagh, and Shawn Black could all be considered, at least, good directors. James Gunn is also not bad at all and could do right by his film.

A fun bit of trivia: according to Jim Shooter, the writer for that issue, the script actually called for Pym to knock Janet down accidentally, by gesturing wildly to express his frustration. Bob Hall, the artist, then interpreted the scene as "Pym backhands Janet across the face" and drew it as such.

I am going to guess that Phase 3 will be something like this, maybe with Cap 3 swapped with an Ant Man sequel.

2015 - The Avengers 2 - Ant Man
2016 - Thor 3 - TGOTG 2
2017 - Dr Strange - Captain America 3
2018 - The Avengers 3

I really think they will drop Iron Man from the line up after The Avengers 2, at that point he will have starred in 5 movies. I think the first Avengers kinda toyed with the idea of killing him off, so I think they will do it in Avengers 2. They need to show that Thanos isnt a walk in the park and there are casualties. I also think they will try and use Ant Man to fill the void left by Tony Stark.

I gotta think they'll do Hulk 3 somewhere in there. I'd love to see Ruffalo have the opportunity to carry his own movie, and they did introduce The Leader in TIH.
