I think you can make a case either way with the 52 crossovers, but I'm thinking they are trying to create a universe of connections, and continuity. That's hard to do if all the books are self contained.

I'm also taking that most readers want to see when Batwoman meets new Wonder Woman, etc.

They want more than a meeting.

DOOMSWAG! THE LATVERIAN SWAG!

Reading Infinity Gauntlet, never got into this crap back in high school and I still think the Mehvel cosmic stuff is a bunch of assclowns and ponces; so I'm in it for Cap taking it to Thanos.

Doom punking the shit out of Silver Surftard is so awesome. :3

And it will be drawn by Frank Quietly. D:

Eh - 12 issues, a year is a pretty good run. Not what I'd call hasty at all.

Okay, how about crusty old BB fans want their old BB back and resent the new BB, and since comics aren't targeting kids, marketing to kids, and generally reaching out to a new audience to get them into comic shops the Blue Beetle readers are too busy reading Naruto. :X

Which is another catch-22 since manga tweens just steal everything. :|

12 issues of reboot crippled sadness, madness, and frustration hardly count as an earnest and sincere attempt at making a good run. And don't blame BB fans, because no one boycotted after Ted was dead. The Jaime character was fairly well done in Original Continuity, all things considered, including his alliances with Green Lantern and Peacemaker. I was reading a comic recently, possibly one of DC's 'Zero' issues. And the editor had an insert going on about how he loved sneaking comic books into class, and how he used to wear a paper crown and eat hamburgers with his friends Archie and Reggie. I'm like...what the fuck. These people aren't only out of touch, they actually inhabit an alternate reality. He's writing nostalgia love notes to school kids who aren't reading his book. No one rides their BMX to the local 7-11 or Drug Store to buy 6 comics for 5 bucks anymore. It's a problem of sales, production, and supply and demand, and they're trying to fix all of that by writing and shuffling titles around? They don't even know who's buying their books, they're disconnected from their market and they're tapped of ideas for how to link to the next generation. It's sad.

Really cool mini-series, if you want a good single story Doom issue check out Fantastic Four #258.

damn, i was planning on going back & finally reading all the cosmic marvel (annihilation/etc) stuff i missed, this new nova book has all the fans of that stuff weeping though. should i still go back & check it out? which events/books specifically are the best? War of Kings, Thanos Imperative, etc?

Yes they are all still worth reading. Thanos Imperative more or less ended all of the stories that started with Annihilation/Annihilation: Conquest. There really didn't need to be more but the books were so good that many people (including myself) wanted more. The fact that we are now, a few years later, going to get more Nova and GotG but completely messed up and neutered versions is why people are complaining. It doesn't make those old stories bad or not worth checking out though.

At the least, read Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest, and the Nova + GotG ongoings. After that you may as well check out Thanos Imperative too since it caps it all off despite it being weaker than those 4 "series". War of Kings/Realm of Kings were both pretty mediocre so you can probably skip those and just read the Nova/GotG stuff that happened during them.

The information we have given, the little gleams, have been just enough to piss off everyone. It's great, just this whole miasma of comments in the last, like, 48 hours on my twitter feed is just great. You could take a giant pie chart, there's like a sliver of people of, "'Superior's' gonna be awesome, I can't wait, I love everything you do!" And then there's this sliver of, "I'm leaving Spider-Man! I'm never reading the book again! You suck" Bleep you, Bleep this!" And then there's this really large slice of, "What are you doing?!? Oh no, no it's ending, why? Why? No!" And then an equally large slice of, "I'm very confused -- but I trust you?" … But that's great. If they werent talking I'd be very scared.

That Dan Slott.

The best argument for Peter's replacement I've seen so far is Miguel O'Hara

-Fits the build
-Has to wear protective lenses for his eyes(Superior Spider-Man suit has new lenses)
-Has claws(ditto)
-Is a bit meaner and ruthless than ol' Petey(not above killing people)

Seeing how I was into the 2099 thing, I would be pretty ok with this.

Someone said something about new spidey being asian, so I wouldn't rule out Sang-Chi. But the cool solution would still be Peter Parker with a new identity.

My knowledge of Shang is rather limited, but from what I do know it doesn't look like he'd kill anyone....would he?

Does he have to kill people? Where are you getting this from?

Its been my understanding that this version of spider-man is much darker. I also believe someone had said at some point in time here that there was art showing him stabbing someone in the spine with a toe claw or something to that nature?

Well, among the stuff Dan Slott has been repeating on these interviews is not to think "dark and weird" is "grim and gritty". Not that I would know the difference, but it doesn't seem like he will go spider-punisher on us. Maybe more violent, as someone without spider-powers would need to be in order to stop bad guys, but I can't see him not being a hero as we understand it.

Catching up on The Sixth Gun.

:0

Is Bunn's Marvel stuff this good? I must admit I haven't read much of it.

His first arc following up Remender on Venom was lolbad. I think that's all I've read from him.

I got caught up on Wonder Woman through issue 12, it's probably my favorite DC 52 book outside of disliking Zola, especially on the art side on the Akins issues.

Pretty neat.

Better than that piece of crap in the MvC3 manual, at least.

Zola is pretty stupid. I don't understand why she's so presumptuous as to mouth off to gods all the time. Admittedly between all their ridiculous scheming and Wonder Woman schooling them every issue, they do come off looking a little buffoonish. Still, shut the fuck up, Zola. Go sit in the corner and be pregnant until your MacGuffin is born.

Well, someone didn't read issue #12.

Also, you try and see if when crazy fuckers try to kill you and your baby for something that might happen in the future you don't sass the shit out of them when the opportunity arises.
