The Onion writes about a man that could describe most message board posters.

Area Man On Personal Mission To Explain Why Universally Enjoyed Things Are Bad

“If there is a thing that is universally cherished, then I have an obligation to help people understand why they’re wrong for liking it,” said Lerner, adding that while it’s tempting to let his friends simply enjoy a new song or TV show, he ultimately has a responsibility to point out its every flaw until it is utterly ruined for them.

Yeah, the article describes many people online perfectly.

It is so true. Whether it's a song or movie, when I tell someone on the internet "I thought it was nice. I enjoyed it," I'm told why I'm wrong and that I should feel bad for liking it.

It really ran out of steam 10 years ago. I m surprised people still like it, there are a lot of better sites out there.
such as.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................?

Lost it at this:

Among the many other widely beloved things that Lerner has reportedly made it his mission to invalidate are the original Star Wars trilogy, the Olympics, actor Daniel Day-Lewis, chocolate, the Beatles, Vincent van Gogh, central air-conditioning, and the Internet.

yeah, basically there's being vocal and there's being needlessly unpleasant, some need to get better at learning where to draw the line.

I stopped reading long before such click bait articles became the norm.

It was a video, and it was rather amazing.
I still don't know a satirical site that is so consistently funny and spot on.
And I'm not sure you can call their stuff "click-baiting". It's topical satire, so of course it's gonna be about things people care about at any given moment.

According to Lerner, rather than acknowledging that a film like The Dark Knight Rises is entertaining, the way a normal person might, he has a special duty to argue that it is, in fact, completely horrible. Describing the movie as “an overhyped snooze,” Lerner noted that director Christopher Nolan is a ponderous and only marginally talented filmmaker, and that no serious person could possibly enjoy the performance of Christian Bale, an actor Lerner described as “not nearly as good as people think he is.”

Oh my God it's GAF to a T.

Nice one.

Now they should write an article about people who accuse others of being like Mr. Lerner just because they express their opinions ;)

Does Family Guy count as popular? Cuz fuck Family Guy.
And fuck Jack Johnson.
And fuck tomatoes and tuna.

Everything else, eh, go ahead and enjoy it. IDGAF

The only time I've felt like the guy the onion describes is when there was a thread where people posted a bunch of unfunny youtube channels that were like super popular. Crap like annoying orange and a bunch of others that ran the gamut from loud mouth idiot to nickelodeon reject. I felt like I was in bizarro world. How do people find that entertaining?

Did the Internet create all these critics/cynics, or were they already out there and the Internet is the vehicle for them?
