It gets much, much worse before it gets any better. And it basically only gets better in the last episode, which will just make you angry anyway.

Well I've just watched Episode 9 which is
Where Laura's killer is revealed
- I'm guessing this is tipping point...

I would be tempted to suggest you bail out at this point. First time I watched Twin Peaks I stopped here and it was nice to have new content to head back to later on. I wouldn't ruin your first viewing by watching the rest of season 2.

I'm so invested though! My worry is that the main drive of the story is the hunt for Laura's killer - with that gone... I don't know. I don't want to finish here knowing there's more to see, regardless of the quality.

It might tarnish my enjoyment of the second season - but my love for season 1 is pretty much untouchable at this point.

Nah, the last episode and the way it ended was just perfect, especially for a show that was built around a mystery.

It's more Twin Peaks so I can understand why you want to continue but it's a rough road to travel. Thankfully the character interactions are enough to salvage most of the issues but I definitely tuned out at points.

I understand the hesitation - but if I can suffer through season 3 of Arrested Development after loving the first two then I can do this as well!

This sentiment is what's keeping me going - plus the quest to get my tag changed to something Twin Peaks related.

Keep on going, the finale is absolutely marvelous.

On a side note, I stumbled on to this a couple of days ago.

It's worth going through for that finale. Oh that finale.

Anyone who hasn't seen Twin Peaks should watch the entire series, season two quality-drop and all. All Twin Peaks fans share that burden, and so must you.

Season 2 has a long arc centered around James aka the worst character ever in the history of characters

I tuned out of those episodes completely

James was supposed to be some sort of James Dean type character. He was supposed to be some brooding biker type that was really insular and distant. They only nailed half of that. He was indeed a biker type, but he came across as being mopey and weak.

One of the moments I remember most from the later half of season two is him sitting by himself looking sad while that terrible song he sang with Donna and Maddy plays in the background.

Super Nadine is the moment when gold Twin Peaks degrades into bronze Twin Peaks.

Super Nadine is just like wtf levels of hilarity.

Despite everybody's problems with the wackiness that this show descended into at times you can tell it's one of a kind.

American Horror Story tries to get this kind of Twin Peaks vibe with it's silliness and out of left field ideas and flops miserably every time.

It's worth going through for that finale. Oh that finale.

Is it, though? I mean, if I were to rewatch the show I don't think I could make it through
James and his mopey adventures; Super Nadine; Ben Horne the Civil War general; Josie and the door knob; Andy, Lucy, Dick Tremayne and Little Nicky. It's even worse if you hate Windom Earle. Lots of abysmal television to be found before the finale.

Super Nadine was so out there that her scenes were at least hilarious, James arch with
the rich woman
was just boring, long and useless.

I'll admit I'm likely to gloss over it on a rewatch, but a first time through I think it should be seen. Twin Peaks is a thing that should be seen through, flaws and all, at least once.

Just two more episodes to go before my wife and I finish up a rewatch (well, a rewatch for me, this is her first time).

The whole post-reveal lull in the second half seemed to go on forever this time, weird because we've mostly been watching an episode a night.

The thing is I don't even think it's much of a 'lull in quality', more that the pacing of the overarching BOB/Lodge story is broken - when Laura's story ends it's kind of 'here's a bunch of stuff happening for no reason' before Annie comes along and things get back on track.

I actually love most of the stuff that goes on post-reveal... the only sub-plot I absolutely despise is the James one, but he's one character I can't stand period, I got the joke surrounding his character early on but it really grates after the first episode or two.

Oh, and do you have any idea what
a combination of sexual maturity and superhuman strength can result in
? - that line is Mike's only reason to exist. ^_^

I'm wondering if I should warn the wife about that last episode...

I agree. It gets pretty bad, but it should be seen through at least once, just so you a little context (lol). My friends almost said "Fuck it, we'll just watch the movie" instead of showing me the second season, but we ended up watching through the episodes anyway... which is good, because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten to see
FREDDIE'S FUCKING SWEATER HOLY SHIT
because lemme tell ya, I will never ever, ever forget it.

The movie is quite good though. I'm glad we ended with it instead of watching it first; helps with diluting the insanity that is the second season.

I don't get the spoiler part.

More for the character than for the object. Just covering my bases!

It's been ages since I've watched the series through, so I don't really have any idea what you're talking about. =) I do have the last episode saved, and I watch it from time to time. Perhaps I should watch the series through again, as they're being broadcasted on TV here right now.

This thread has convinced me to power through the remaining half of the second season...after a year hiatus. After watching an episode, I remembered the majority of the plotlines and characters. Time to finally complete Twin Peaks!

Oh man, I mentioned this post...

One of the moments I remember most from the later half of season two is him sitting by himself looking sad while that terrible song he sang with Donna and Maddy plays in the background.

...to my friend this morning, and as SOON as I said it, she went "Awww, man! WTF! Now that awful song is stuck in my head!" I found this extra hilarious, because I personally don't remember it, just that it's fucking atrocious.

And no, I'm not looking it up.

The
red room thing was great.
I just hated how they
killed a ton of characters for no reason

They could have tied up the sub-plots better, but overall I thought it was a very satisfying ending. I particularly loved the final scene.

Yeah the first arc is amazing but I lost interest when it was just wacky characters being wacky.

Then again if Twin Peaks ran for 20 more seasons of just Cooper and Truman drinking coffee and eating donuts I would have watched and enjoyed every episode.

I finally finished the show for the first time:

After James was dropped from the show, and his horrible subplot ended, the show became infintely better again. Well, after Jodie really, she was an all right character, but her character's death suddenly made the show quality a lot higher.

Every episode after Jodie's death was simply magical. Every scene was damn good, I wasn't bored at all. I am really glad I went back to the show, or else I would have regret missing such quality. No show will ever match Twin Peaks in its quality or charm, mostly the latter. If this show was released today, it would still be held up for its originality.

Lost is held up as being a great mystery show, but it doesn't have anything when compared to Twin Peaks. But that final episode! ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! Lynch's return to the director seat was pure brilliance. However, that final scene, I want to see more Twin Peaks, and it hurts so much knowing that I'll never see any future episodes. Also, Audrey Horne being dead is a world I don't want to live in!!!!!

This show was god-damn magical. It is seldom seen that subplots of side characters are good, but in the majority of cases, Twin Peaks excels in those areas. And no one can deny the godliness of Dale Cooper; my Iphone 5 is named after him. The music was also another highlight.

The first season is one of the best seasons in television. However, the second season, while sloppy during its middle arc (with James and Jodie), still defeats 90% of television. Now, I shall wait for the director's cut of Deadly Premonition and play that when it comes out. If only to feel that Twin Peaks magic.

Is the companion film, Fire Walk With Me, worthing seeing too?

Fire Walk With Me is awesome. Better than the TV show, in my opinion. But I have to disagree with the bolded. While I think the first season is brilliant, I think most of season 2, with the exception of the final episode, is...just not good at all. Worse than most TV even.

This is the best photo I can find though it doesn't show it well, but the entire Evelyn Marsh subplot was unbearable until I just focused on her single brown tooth.

Fully agree with you. It's the reason why I stopped watching initially.

Sounds like I'll be watching Fire Walk With Me. Now if I could only find a legal stream of it. Amazon and Netflix do not have it on streams. :-(
