I've been enjoying Batman Beyond as well. Not the most ground breaking series but alot of fun.

Yea, it's not going to be breaking any sort of new ground or changing much since it's pretty self contained but damn if it isn't a lot of fun. I'm really liking the new Jokers arc.

Well it's kind of a good thing though isn't it? I mean yea they'll fight, but then they just make up a few chapters later. It just means we don't have to deal with a stupid relationship drama thing that spans chapters and chapters.

I suppose. It's a shame though, because like all Batman-type super heroes, Terry is swimming in women. Even AQUAGIRL wants him.

I don't need it to break ground, because it's just fun. I don't really like "Events" anymore. I like that the Big Two have their worlds interconnected because the team-ups can be fun, but Events these days are so tiring. Occasionally they rock, like the Dark Phoenix Saga did and, dare I say, House of M (which was a really interesting alt dimension and stuff), but for the most part I'd rather that heroes just kinda had adventures and did stuff.

But Batman Beyond is great because it's just plain and simple stuff: Terry and Bruce go and fight crazy things and do cool stuff and the reader has fun. Hawkeye's feelin' the same way to me so far.

I thought her JLB origin chapter showed that she wanted that Hawkguy smang. Can't blame her for switching tho, Terry's got swag.

Yea, a good event is one thing but we don't need one every year. I mean we've already had a few Batman ones (Owls then Joker is starting), but those I can't complain about since they tend to be pretty good anyways.

What I really want to see from DC is to take a sort of Hawkeye approach to Superman. Clark has always been the interesting one, yet he's criminally underused in his own damn book. I mean give him a problem that he can't solve by punching you know? It doesn't have to be aliens all the time. BB has that nice mix of Terry/Batman that makes him feel like a real guy, that's what makes it fun. He's basically Peter Parker as Batman, minus the money problems. He's just a guy first and I find that fun. I just wish the chapters were longer.

My only problem with Superman is that I feel like there is no problem he cannot solve. It would be nice to show him having to cope with social issues and not resorting to force to get it, I guess, but he's Superman. The only reason he doesn't rule the DC world is because why should he bother?

I think I am Event fatigued, though. Mostly heroes vs heroes events. Like, seriously, Marvel, aren't these the good guys? They've spent WAY too much time fighting each other recently. It's about time Doom or Magneto or hell, Galactus came along and made them all team up together.

No wait, don't do that. The Phoenix came and they still fought each other.

But yeah, BB is great stuff because of the whole Peter Parker aspect. Which is something I ought to publicly say, I suppose: I cannot fully fault the thinking behind OMD because a single Spidey swinging between Black Cat and MJ is less reprehensible than a married one swinging between Black Cat and MJ and I do like Black Cat, but the execution and subsequent Carly "Actually Mephisto in a wig" Cooper was terrible.

The thing that gets me about Superman is that he is a reporter and they critically under use that aspect of his character. It could easily lead him into issues that he cannot solve with his powers, not that they wouldn't help. He obviously isn't a dumb guy, have him sniff out corruption from time to time. Have him help to save a man on death row (there was an episode like that in the animated series that was pretty good). Have him try to have an actual relationship, make his attempts to do so be a chapter or two. Have him be a regular dude with the powers of a god. It isn't rocket science.

I think the OMD thing was pretty horribly done, I feel like it should have been forced on him without anyone being able to stop it. It's just like, make it have been a thing that he couldn't stop. Like a choice between saving the city and the way his life was. They just tried too hard to play on the emotional angle when if they had done it right, or better, would have been a natural thing. It could have added a bit of mystery to the whole thing as well, which would have tied BND together a bit neater I suppose.

Even though the next two were new releases, it came up as .99 cents for me.

looking it up, it seems like you bought the two digital exclusive issues that came after the six issue miniseries? Those might normally be 99cents each since they are 10 pages long ( at least the first issue of that sequelly thing is)

Just go get the trade for the same price? Or cheaper on Amazon.

You know, now that you mention it. I'm pretty sure I pre ordered the first volume...

Just checked, yup, I did lol I just get too excited about comics sometimes and forget I've already bought them. I've done it before like a half dozen times

Yay! Happy end.

Peter Panzerfaust is next on the chopping block. I may do some crazy trade offers as well since they'll fit in a flat rate envelope. :3

I don't care about money - I just want to get shit out of my house! :D

I would be more than happy for them to be in my house :o

Can't wait for the for sale list :D

I picked up the first couple issues of Batman Inc (new 52) and after reading up on Batman and Robin (52) I was looking to start reading. I was wondering though, should I start with the issues from last year and read those first?

I want to start reading Batman Beyond, I've never read any of it but I've watched the series.
Where should I start? How should I progress?

Definitely get the first Batman Inc trade, the new 52 Inc directly continues it.

Court of Owls could have been great as a backdrop/build-up, but throwing it all together in succession alongside that "twist" ending in issue 11ish...it felt rushed and cheap. Issue #5/6 were the highlights to that arc and what i take away from it, great issues. The cynic in me would think they rushed it because DC wanted to have a crossover theme event.

But DC can still be discussed here! They have good books and stuff. And...Pandora?

I think you're dead on the money with that. There should really have been a small 2-3 issue arc between the first and last six issues, with the Owls in the background. tbh this is why it's a shame there are so many titles these days. In the 90s there could have been a cool Robin and Nightwing arc as Bruce recouperates or something. It's funny that an 11 part arc can feel rushed!

I say just read them in whatever order you like. You'll be super spoiled for almost all of Grant Morrison's 5 year run but fuck it, it's not a big deal is it? If you like it, google "Grant Morrison Batman reading order" and do the whole thing. Best Batman run ever.

Batman Inc (52) isn't really a nu52 book at all, it's feet are planted firmly in the old continuity and it's the final 12 issues of a story 5 years in the making that began with a story called Batman and Son in the title called "Batman" that ran through to Batman RIP. This was followed up by "Batman and Robin" with Morrison and Quitely which ran for about 16 issues. There was a mini that also tied in to it called The return of Bruce Wayne. And then that ended and you get vol 1 of Batman Inc, followed by vol 2 in the nu52.

Batman and Robin (nu52) is a solid B-tier book that has nothing at all to do with Batman Inc.

...and this is the part where you stop reading comics forever because they're so byzantine and confusing! haha

I kid. Just read what you have and see if you like it. Depending on which books you like, there are several jumping off points for you to go onto.

You know, a Buy/Sell/Trade thread would be cool. I got some comics I'd be pretty ok with parting.
Shipping can be a hassle, especially out of country.

Find some locals to trade with. Some LCS have a notice board. I found a couple of guys with huge collections and we've been trading/borrowing for years. It's a sweet deal when you can read 3X what you invest.

I want to start reading Batman Beyond, I've never read any of it but I've watched the series.
Where should I start? How should I progress?

Start with the 2010 series. That's when it relaunched. It's set between the end of Batman Beyond and the "Epilogue" in JLU.

Just pick up what you can where you can. Most of them have been miniseries. If you've seen the series you should be able to get into most of them without much effort. They introduce a few new characters but nothing a google search can't inform you about.

The 2011 8 issue run and the current Batman Beyond Unlimited should still be easy to find.

Great post! Why are there only four issues on Batman Inc now? Is it just on that kind of release schedule?

Man, Hawkeye is killing it. I've missed you since WCA got crappy bro

I don't know if I can resist that Transmet sale...

I WANT to get it buy i also like $60 and don't like buying huge runs digitally. *debates* I bet they'll announce an ominbus of it the moment i purchase it all digitally.

Hah, that cover almost shames modern Marvel and DC. So much classic skill on display, and global popular culture relevance too.

Give me Liberty pin in the middle there. God DAMN that needs to become an animated feature.

Thanks! I think I'm just going to start with Inc from last year.

started reading the I Vampire trade since if i like it, vol 2 will be purchased as part of Barnes and Noble's buy 2 get 1 free sale:

First issue was good, i liked how they set the book up and will read more tonight. Art was great, characters need a bit more work.

New drinking game, read a Marvel Now article and take a shot of Everclear everytime they say Avengers.

LOL, just read a Captain Marvel interview...had to take like 3 or 4 shots. On the upside they explained why Ironman was with the GotG on the cover...on the negative it's not going to inspire confidence in the book.
