The Netflix Recommendation Thread of Dope Movies

So many, surprisingly I find the foreign section to be quite impressive, especially the Scandinavian films, such great psychological thrillers, or they have a decent selection of the film movement films, which I have never heard of ANY.... but whenever I have watched them had great, redeeming qualities.
21 Grams
troubledWATER
Closer
the Virgin Suicides
A Love Song for Bobby Long
The Skin I am in (Spanish title)
The Reader

Hunger.

Pretty terrible, and really dumb if you start analyzing it, but far better than it should've been. If that makes any sense. Anyway I watched the whole thing all the way through. Usually with Netfilx I turn most stuff off and never finish it. This I endured.

Maybe cause I liked the girl in it... idk. It was better than a lot of the other 3 star movies I've tried to watch lately.

Wow. Great film.

watched this the other night.

was not impressed. crazy for sure and decent acting. the back and forth through time thing was really unnecessary.

Just saw an awesome foreign language flick: Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale.

It takes a while to get going, but the payoff is enormous. One of the best movies I've seen on NetFlix, period.

Fightville.

Awesome doco about small time MMA fighting. I loved it and highly recommend it to anyone into martial arts or combat sport.

Just watched Amadeus. I'm sure many in here already know about it as it has been around nearly 30 years and its highly regarded but in case you haven't - it's a very enjoyable movie about the conflict between the bitter jealousy of Salieri for the musical genius of Mozart. Tom Hulce's (best known for Animal House) performance annoyed me at first and seemed so out of place but I grew to like him as the movie went on and F Murray Abraham was great from the get go. The musical performances needless to say were fantastic. I feel motivated to listen to Mozart music now and learn about the real life story of Mozart and Salieri.

So apparently there's a bunch of James Bond movies on Netflix and they're all expiring November 1. Did they just go up, or have they been there and I never noticed until last week? I assumed it was a promo to go with the blu-ray boxset and anniversary.

I watched From Russia, With Love last night. The novel was easily my favorite of the Bond novels, but it's been so long since I read it or watched the movie all I could remember was that there was a train and (book spoiler)
Bond dying from the poisoned boot knife
. It was nice seeing a Bond movie that plays out like a spy thriller and not an action movie, but it still felt underwhelming. I seem to recall there being some good character development in the novel, which would've helped this particular Bond film immensely.

Really bummed Netflix took all the Friday the 13th movies down before October is even over.
That is some bullshit.

Although i think most are on comcast on demand for free so i will just watch them there, i saw a few on the xfinity site so i assume it's also on ondemand.

They just went up earlier this month.

The Bond films go up and down on Netflix. I don't really understand the logic, but they are there now.

Great, great movie. It stretches historical accuracy a bit but the story is so compelling that very few care. And the music is glorious, of course.

the cinematography in that movie is stunning, 'the queen of the night' set piece was mindblowing.

The Friday the 13th & James Bond series gets put up & taken down all the time, they will be back probably in a few short months if not in a few weeks.

Also if anyone missed it, but the entire Pink Panther series (except the 1st movie strangely) has been put up recently.
I recommend the 2nd, 3rd & 4th movies. Comedy classics.

But stay the fuck away from the 5th (Revenge of the Pink Panther), 6th (Trail of the Pink Panther), 7th (Curse of the Pink Panther) & 8th (Son of the Pink Panther) movies.

The 5th movie was the last with Peter Sellers in the role fully throughout the movie (He died during the 6th movie).

If you didn't already notice, Touch and Alias hit. I never have seen either. Look pretty good.
Alias is a fantastic show but it has a split in the face base. Some people say Seasons 1-2 are great the rest are garbage, the other half say it got worse after season 3.

I won't deny that the later seasons aren't as good but i still love the series.

Watched "Dial 'M' For Murder" and "The Killer Inside Me" this week. Both good - the former more so.

Killer Inside Me was pretty good and disturbing as hell. Casey Affleck was good and actually didn't annoy me with his voice too much. Been meaning to check out the book, but haven't got around to it.

Saw Indie Game: The Movie thanks to this thread.

I'm assuming Korean Revenge movies have been recommended to death ITT? The Man from Nowhere?

The Man From Nowhere was rec'ed in this thread multiple times, prompting me to watch it. Awesome action flick.

Good movie despite some Hollywood moments and low quality special effects.

I watched the first five mins and was confused as hell... and the action looked really fake/poorly shot so I turned it off. Might try again some other time when I'm in the mood for something like that.

I wasnt sure where to post this. So here it is. So i was suppose to get a movie today, it didnt come. They say it did. But now they are sending 3 new dvds tomorrow. Why? I'm on a 3 dvd plan. Ugh. No sense it makes and The movie i wanted to see isnt here and isnt coming?

Sometimes stuff gets lost in the mail. One time I experienced the same issue. I believe someone at my local post office may have been stealing my DVDs as after several failed attempts by Netflix to send me the disk I wanted, I filed a complaint to my local post office and a few days later, one of the missing Netflix disks showed up and it looked like the sleeve had been opened and taped back together.

Usually if you report missing disks to Netflix they will usually re-send you the missing disk and also start sending you other disks in your queue as a courtesy. I'm guessing this is what is happening in your case? Their customer support is really good. Maybe you should just call them again?

We've had one disc not show up. I reported it as not delivered using their web site (didn't call). They automatically sent me another copy of it. Then a few months later they sent me an automated e-mail saying they'd received the original disc. At least they got it back eventually.
