Life of a Big East team:

Our record: 7-0. Record of FCS teams we've beat:

Kentucky (1-7)
North Carolina (5-3 but bowl ineligible)
FIU (1-7)
Southern Miss (0-7)
Pittsburgh (3-4)
South Florida (2-5)

After being at the game Saturday and seeing how many empty seats there we after not having a home game for a month, it seems like most of the fanbase is completely apathetic, and I would say that's likely seeping into the player's mindset as well.

Can't blame them, when we somehow may only have two bowl teams on our schedule all year, there's nothing to ever get up for. Cincy should be big Friday Night, but the steam is off that now a little when they just lost to fucking Toledo.

And when our AD responds to scheduling problems by saying he's trying at arrange an annual series with Indiana, what the fuck? It's a nice regional rivalry, but it's not as if they're any good. It's time to do a 2 for 1, or a 1 off, unfortunately. I don't think the program can take much more apathy about games.

Good luck to you all, but I'll be shocked if Duke wins 2 of their next four games (@FSU, Clemson, @GT, Miami).

Also, why is everybody saying Duke is now bowl eligible? They were eligible last week, since a team with 5 wins can be eligible as an alternate if their academic ranking is strong enough (top 15, or top 15% I think).

Separate topic: What's up with Shutdown Fullback? Did it die? There was no Week 8 preview, and no Week 8 recap has been posted yet (though it is only Monday).

SALTY TEARS! YOUR HATRED FUELS ME. LOL AND ALL THAT.

I think the 5-7 top 5 API is like the the last qualifier, meaning there would have to be absolutely no other viable alternative, so yeah, its better to have the traditional bowl qualifying, without the everyone gets a sticker mentality

Edit: Nevermind, the week 8 recap just got posted.

No bro you got it severely twisted. It's not a slogan its a decleration of fact. We're Notre Dame and this is what we do. Wreck dreams and shatter pretenders
'

It's still a slogan. And as a declaration of fact, it's a rather unimpressive one. Was somebody out there questioning whether or not Notre Dame is Notre Dame? If you were trying to make some sort of emphatic statement that would make us all quake in our boots, you should have tried "we will (try to) win our third bowl game in 18 years" or "if we get to a BCS game we promise we won't lose this one (oh god please give us another chance)."
Or you know sometimes bad shit just happens man.
I heard that's what Brian Kelly wrote in the card he sent to his victim's family.

I am loving all the hate, it fuels me. I can't wait to go down to Norman and smash Oklahoma. We are Notre Dame thats what were about thats what we do. I can't wait to see "Big Game Bob" get his shit pushed in. If he had any fight left he would be on the other sideline.

ND 24 Ok 10. Hi haters

What in the hell.

Just a guess on my part, Zigzz14 is a joke poster, or is actually 14. The other ND fans on here (all 2 of them) don't chirp anywhere near this much.

Online and IRL, all the ND fans I've met are frustratingly nice. I joked with one of my ND friends about Stanford getting robbed, and he just agreed. No fun at all.

Lots of good B1G games this week.

They would be any other year. The most intriguing to me is the Battle of the Ineligibles.

Will be interesting to see a Wisconsin team with 2-4 losses make it to the B1G CCG with the potential of making the Rose Bowl. I hope they win the CCG just so we can see a 4 loss team going to the Rose Bowl.

I can't see ND scoring 24 on anyone not named Baylor, Texas, or WVU. And I can't see anyone holding OU to 10.

Best thing I saw at the Texas - Baylor game:

natalie-portman-10-20-12.gif

Agreed.

KSU is such a weird program to me.

I hope they can establish something solid for a long while this time.

Always seemed like they were having that one great season, and then they would disappear.

I think they'll be in for some rough times when Snyder retires.

How is Wazzu ranked lower than Colorado in the Pac 12 power rankings?

Wow.

They lost to Colorado at home...

This year, I understand. And even in past given the fact the BE school presidents foolishly kept at 8 tams for so long, creating many issues for everyone. But Indiana somehow has a name, is a Big 10 team, and should be more than beatable for you. And to be fair, nobody expected at least three of those teams on your list to be that bad this season.

But moving forward, should there really be that much of an issue with an influx of teams coming in? UCF has little to no issues finding 4 games every season with quality (but should be beatable) opponents included OOC.

2012: Host Florida International and Mizzou. Away at Akron and Ohio St.
2013: Host FCS Bethune Cookman, South Carolina and Akron. Away at Florida International
2014: Host BYU, FIU and FCS Jacksonville St. Away at Missouri.

The rest of the seasons are spotty at this point, obviously. We're apparently also taking to Syracuse for a 1/1 deal. Just added Maryland last week or so. Plus Uconn was taken out since they are now a conference game.

2015: Away at South Carolina
2016: Away at Maryland
2017: Host Maryland. Away at Texas

Lots of good B1G games this week.

And I'm seeing a lot of Wisconsin by 4 in people's picks this week. Whaaaaaa????
We'll see, should be a close game. This is one I'd already chalk up as a loss for the Badgers, but they're looking better, so who knows.

Notre Dame's academics must be better than I thought. They've obviously invented a time machine that this guy used to travel to us from the distant past.

Obviously so, I just wanted to post the time travel thing anyway. :D

Agreed. Michigan-Nebraska will likely determine the legends division, and MSU-Wisconsin still has a bit of fire even though both teams are disappointments from last year,MSU much more so.

It will be relaxing watching without worrying if we'll get to the championship.

The only two teams that are statistically "good" in the other B1G division are Iowa and Michigan. And even so, neither are actually good. Iowa has Micah Hyde on defense(who should have been suspended after running from police) and Weisman at RB. I don't even know who Michigan has, but they barely squeaked past Michigan State. Honestly, I'd say drop the B1G BCS team and throw Ohio or Boise State in their place.

I feel like our offense just doesn't have the talent. Defense has been fine, Michigan didn't even score a TD. I can see Wisconsin winning by 10+

I've not met those ND fans. The ones I've met still talk about how Brady Quinn was robbed for the Heisman and how ND has it tough because they recruit nationally. And are as arrogant as Miami fans. None of these people are alumni, though. So maybe that's the difference?

Should be a fun game to watch still. That Mich game broke my heart last week.
What a messed up season in the B1G this year.

I live in Mpls, and am really bummed about the Gophers' conference play as well. I was sure this would be a better year for them too.

With OSU and Penn St out, it was really up for grabs for a lot of teams, with the Badgers and Mich St most likely locking in down. Or so I thougtht.

Our athletic director has a home and home even series policy with everyone. So we won't take anyone unless its an even series swap. I'm guessing Ohio State, Texas, and South Carolina didn't agree to even series with you guys.

The 8 team conference really has had nothing to do with it, there's just nothing to get hyped for when there's only 3 decent teams in the conference and we're one of them. I don't see that changing in the future either, playing SMU or Houston isn't going to make anyone excited.

Now that I got everyone all fired up I actually have a question. Flying into OKC thurs night and have heard differing opinions on whether to head down to Norman Fri or party in OKC and head to Norman Sat morning. Heard traffic can be pretty brutal on gameday

Help me out OU fans

MightyHealthy signal, go!

Probably. Walmart wolverines are much worse than actual UofM students/alumni in my experience.

Every fan base has asshole fans. Come up to South Bend, I've never heard an opposing teams fans say anything but nice things about the whole experience after leaving.

It's been only on a very rare occasional that I've met asshole students. Like, that are actually enrolled in the institutions. The tailgating, group-think student crowd is a different matter entirely, but regular students tend to have a bit more perspective about life to act like douchebags (though they may poke a little fun on occasion). Now that I think about it, I have yet to meet a student/alum of any B1G school that was actually a reality-obfuscating, blinders-on fanboy anywhere but the internet.

But yes, WalMart Wolverines/Spartans/Buckeyes/blahblah tend to be ridic. They're also usually the caliber of people that wouldn't get accepted into any of the above institutions either. If you're basing the quality of an institution on the quality of people who would never and could never have been students...you're doing it wrong.

No one ever quotes my ND posts, I need to be more cutting edge.

Needs more haughtiness.

I've not been to any opposing stadium that was anything but a pleasant experience. Then again, strangers don't tend to fuck with black people. Black Privilege.

Boise St will, though. And UCF has more of a pulse on the field than Pitt or Cuse. At least Pitt. Whether or not your fans will be excited for it, another story.

We also have a home/home even policy. Ohio St was an anomaly because of ripple-effect realignment issues - we both happened to need a game on the same weekend this offseason. Texas was a holdover from a previous AD administration. Heck, that series may have been made 2 ADs ago pre-2007. South Carolina is a 1/1. Mizzou same thing. K-State was to be a 1/1 before they reneged on the series. BYU is 1/1. Maryland and Syracuse(if it happens) will be 1/1 too.

The difference with UCF at least, is Florida is a recruiting hotbed. Even though we have like the top high school team in the country here with a USC commit and another guy we're head to head with Ohio State with, no one considers Louisville a recruiting hotbed.

If a team goes to UCF, USF, or wherever - it's always with exposure to future prospects in mind.

We desperately need a big time opponent, at least one, every year out of conference and it's not something Boise, UCF, or anyone else coming into the league makes up for.

That's certainly true. I would think Kentucky as a whole is good for recruiting, no?

And yeah, if you can't get any marquee OOC games, that's a problem I guess. There has to be someone out there somewhat respectable that is willing to do an even series.
