Is there a way to check on Walmart's website? It says that they can ship it to my closest stores, but it will take a week. Does that mean it's not in stock there?

There's a link for 'Check store availability for this product.' There's a Walmart 30 miles away from with 'Limited Stock', all other Walmarts are out of stock. I don't care enough about this set to drive that far.

Edit: According to CAG, some people have been able to take the ad into Target and have them price match it.

Yeah I found that, looks like it's been cleaned out in my area. LegoGaf, how did you let this deal go for 3 days before mentioning it??

haha, yeah I was surprised when I stumbled across it yesterday. I was on a completely unrelated board. Looks like it was posted on Slickdeals at some point too.

With this, and the sale on Grand Emporium, I've got $250 worth of Lego for $140 bucks this month. :)

Shockingly, all thanks to walmart.

So Walmart has this set, 4204:

in an ad for $39.99. It retails for $99.99 at the Lego Store.

Some people think it may have been a mistake, but it is in their system at that price and has been ringing up at that for a couple of days now. I picked one up tonight and they rang it up no problem.

So that's one Christmas present for my son knocked out. :)

What ad did you see? A physical mailer ad? I haven't seen an advertisement kiosk at my local store.
And did the ad have text that showed the numbers 39.99 on it?

Picked up these two books today for my son:

He and I have been building the Monster Fighters sets for the past week and he is really digging them. He built the Swamp Creature set, the Mummy set and the Werewolf set while I was occupied with the Haunted House.

I wonder how many copies of that Ninjago book are going to be vandalized to get the green ninja figure?

I never saw the physical ad. Didn't need to. It rings up automatically at the register. If you use those price check scanners in the aisles it gives the sale price there too.

You can see the copy of the printed ad on Walmart's site here. It's on page 18.

Here's the Slickdeals thread.

The Monster Fighters getting their Wacky Racers on.

IMO, the Vampire Hearse is one of my favorite builds of late. All black and blood red... never thought I would see a LEGO hearse.

Great response! I'm wondering if I buy using site to store but it says that The Mine set won't arrive until Nov 6th would I be able to still get the deal or, do I have to have the item picked up by tomorrow so that the deal doesn't expire? I don't see an option to pick up tomorrow because the store that I want to pick up from says that they have Limited Stock. I think i should just drive there to tomorrow morning (10 miles).

I've seen that some people are trying site to store, but it seems a little risky to me because of the delay. And the online price isn't the sale price. Personally I would just try to find in store.

If you are showing limited stock there's a chance it'll be there. The one I went to had limited stock, but I found it. (Though I had to move aside some other big City sets to see it).

good luck!

Lol - looking at that Walmart ad and that isn't the only misprint. I wonder if anyone will get suckered by the "sale" price of $29.97 for Gandalf Arrives set.

haha, yeah I saw that. Clearly a few misprints in that thing. But they don't seem to be in much of a hurry to change anything in store, it's weird.

I was talking with one of the employees at Lasting Toys earlier this week. They no longer accept returns because there was an enormous problem with people "slitting" the boxes. I guess they would slice open the non-taped ends, pluck out the desired pieces & re-stuff & reseal (to ensure the weight matched).

Gross.

I really hate the character designs for the Monster Fighters crew. Two of the five have cyborg parts & the only girl appears to be a caveman. They just seem very poorly thought out.

Edit: Thanks a lot for sharing the deal Vyer! My son will love the set!!

My receipt:

Was 89.97 You Saved 50.00
Total 39.97

I bought the last two on the shelf.
Was afraid to ask if they had more in the back for fear that I would buy them. :D

"Limited Stock"; let me kiss you!

There are two badasses though. One guy has a pith helmet and monocle. Another has a bowler hat, mustache, and vest plus a cybernetic leg. Both of them hunt like bosses. The others are pretty lame.

However, the monsters themselves are awesome.

Those two are the definite standouts of the MF's, but I think the group as a whole is one of the best of the "LEGO-designed" themes.

The monsters themselves do steal the show though.

I hope this line is selling well enough for a second wave next year.

I hope so as well, but I wonder what monsters they will do next. Almost all the iconic film monsters have been done, with a few exceptions. The Phantom of the Opera is the only major horror icon I can think of that isnt in there and not copyrighted.

I do have to get pics of my Haunted House this week. Have an idea on how to use existing parts (no modification) to get a convincing silhouette of Freddy Krueger mini fig. Want to get a good pic of him in the doorway to the house.

The old dude ("Quentin Steele" or something?) is an awesome design. I do like him.

Absolutely. Especially that awesome Swamp Monster. Those eyes!

I don't know that the villains need to be especially iconic (I would argue that the swamp monster isn't). They could easily introduce a ambiguous "monster" characters like a freaky doll or a spider guy. The trouble with the theme is that if you stray too far from the "tropes" you get into the territory where the only things left are murderers. Lego probably won't do that any time soon.

I hope the set gets another good sized set like the Vampyre Castle. That thing is just so playable.

When I was a kid all I wanted was Star Wars and Lord of the Ring legos. Lego comes out when I am older and creates a huge wet dream with all their current sets of things I dreamed of once... My wallet cries so much.

UPS just delivered my box of awesomeness. yayyyy

Got it like new from amazon for $85

Ordered Gandalf Arrives and Urak Hai army too but they will be here tomorrow or next day. I'd like to pick up Mines of Moria even though the set is boring but at this point I need to complete the mini fig collection. I really don't like the weathertop set but will need Merry and really want those Nazgul and horses. I think I will try and integrate Mines of Moria and Weathertop into Helms Deep somehow.

Mines of Moria is actually a cool lil playset, and the figures are great.

But Wheathertop is VERY cool. Small lil display piece, and a cool build. Also the only way to get Nazgul.

Mines of Moria needs a baseplate and some additional "rock" pieces to fill in at least 2 sides - then it looks a bit more cohesive. A lot of the Hobbit sets appear to have the same problem. Wish TLG would get back into baseplates.

Weathertop is nicely inclusive all by itself

Really? I wasn't getting that from weathertop at all, soon as I saw a reviewer get to flick missles coming out of the base I groaned and turned it off. Well I will get it eventually for the Nazgul and Merry so will see.

I took a few more shots for those interested in, really excited to put this together, my first big set and I have no freaking idea where to put it.

Congrats on Helm's Deep!

Regarding flick-fires, for vehicles I am leaving them (for now), but for playsets I am going to MOD out the flick missle if it looks out of place (ie. Jabba's Palace).

PSA, was browsing Amazon and they have another Battle of Helms Deep like new for $86 and a good version for $81. My like new was flawless, good version probably will have marks on the box or maybe a cut.

While some have gotten Amazon stuff "like new" with smashed boxes. Mileage may vary.

Really? I've had nothing but good luck with warehouse deals but yea I guess ymmv. I ordered a Sony Wireless Stereo Headset very good, came sealed in box new. This has been my first experience with a Lego set though. Mine came today in a huge box filled to brim with air bags, had to dig for the box, it felt like christmas.

So I was reading that calendar that was posted earlier and Black Friday sale last year and I guess it makes sense to wait till Black Friday to buy any more sets to see what Lego Store online offers right? Is there a chance Holiday Bakery might go OOP by then?

Seriously! WTF happened to all of their awesome base plates for Castle theme?!

those chimera sets look really cool, not that I am interested in them but if I were 8 and wanted LEGO, I'd be all over them! And the minifigs look cool too :)

I have one of those moon base plates too :D
