Hi, My name is Dominic. Whats yours?

Not open for further replies.
My name is also Dominic. :) Just turned 21 and am finishing off a Film and Television degree this year (yay :\) My area of operations is Melbourne, Australia. I've never left the country but will be rectifying that this year when I go over-seas with my lovely girlfriend.

Prog-rock and scifi? Another Coheed and Cambria fan?
Never heard of them. Are they bands or authors? I like discovering new stuff, so any recommendation is really appreciated :)

I'm more of a Yes, Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd (not their early stuff though), Genesis and Camel fan. But I also like bands such as ELO, Creedence (they're my favorite), The Beatles, Bee Gees and The Who. Recently I started listening to Boston (loved them), Fleetwood Mac (Rumours blew my mind) and Rush (fucking incredible guys!).

I'm John, a mid-20s archaeologist and historian in training from Georgia. Usually when I tell people about the first part, they either ask about dinosaurs or joke about me being Indiana Jones and how much I must hate snakes and Nazis, so I get to joke about how

A) Dinosaurs really aren't my area of expertise, but they are still really badass
B) I was actually terrified of snakes long before I ever got interested in archaeology
C) I've actually fought a Nazi.

Whenever I'm not bogged down in school work and research, I enjoy video and table top games, comics, writing, hiking, jogging, and movies. But that's all boring and typical. I also used to fence and have been looking for an opportunity to start back (epee for life, yo). My newest hobby is brewing beer, which even has its own branding: Intelligent Discussion! This summer, I'll be adding the married life to my list of hobbies, when I finally tie the knot with my girlfriend of five years.
Is it wrong if I read your post with the Indiana Jones theme ringing in my ears? I can totally picture you running from a boulder with a whip in your hand, lol!

I'm basically exclusive to HaloGAF, but I venture into Off Topic a lot.
Huge Halo fan
I like all the Boston sports teams except for the Red Sox (don't like baseball)
Liverpool fan
Studying Environmental Science
Huge space enthusiast

Sup.

Boston is awesome, I agree.

BOTH
All of Coheed and Cambria's albums are concept albums that tell a science fiction storyline called The Amory Wars, a story written by lead singer Claudio Sanchez, which has been transcribed into a series of comic books,[4] as well as a full length novel.

Lol, a search on Google would have saved me from some embarrassment here. It surely sounded like 2 different bands xD Definitely going to give them a chance. Any recommended album or song?

I love concept albums when they are well done. This has a lot of potential.

I'm Javonta, 18, I'm a college freshman studying CompSci. I frequently post in the iOS Gaming and Steam threads, and I lurk the Indie Game Dev thread.

I got my first job recently as well and I hate it, it pays for my hobbies, gas and food though. Still looking for a replacement job...

I also get sick really easily. As a matter of fact, I'm sipping some tea right now since I'm sick and it's fucking disgusting.

My name's Matt.

I've been here a while and love GAF, but never post. I just enjoy digesting it all.

I've spent more than I could ever bear to admit on various (4) art related degrees.
At 27 I realized I'm supposed to cook for people and went for it. I'm only so glad I found out this early.
I still love video games.
I was in a touring band (only 3 provinces, in Canada) for some of 2 years.
I don't like kraft dinner anymore.
I'm an alcoholic. Not the cool kind.
I'm a baseball fan, but never post in the community thread. I think Cajole & buttbutt RT'd me once though.
Go (hopefully-Acta) Jays!
Also need to start contributing to IronGAF.

Currently playing:

Little King's Story
Halo Reach

My last 3 played artists are:

Arbouretum
The Men
OFF!

Hey Gaf!

My name is Miguel
I'm 24 and although originally from Puerto Rico I recently moved to Florida. After a long stint of retail jobs and factory jobs I'm going back to school to finish getting my cs degree.

Howdy! My name is Sarah, and I'm 22. I'm from Annapolis, Maryland but I spend a good deal of my time in both Baltimore and DC. I'd say most of my free time is spent reading comics, making costumes, and cooking or baking.

I tend to lurk the comic/manga/anime/movie threads looking for suggestions but as far as posting goes I enjoy a pretty random assortment of threads.

Since I have so few pictures of me that aren't in costume, enjoy one from back when my hair was short.

Costume suggestions, you say? Do you sell them?

Hi Dominic and everyone, I'm Richard.

Yes, the username "richard" was taken when I signed up ;-)

I live in Melbourne, Australia with my wife, daughter and 2 cats. I turned 40 this year. Grew up on Commodore systems and have been playing and creating (as a hobby) video games ever since. I work in IT, but not doing anything interesting. I'm big on community, going to programming conferences, running a user group and organising a biannual game programming challenge, amongst other things. I own, or have otherwise obtained where not purchasable (live radio spots, for example), every single thing that Underworld has ever recorded (about 4GB.)

Currently XCOM is using up all my gaming time (and some non-gaming time.)

The Great British Bake-Off got me interested in baking but I'm not terribly serious about it. I also watch Fringe, Castle and M*A*S*H on DVD :-)

Photo from the family trip to Disneyland in April this year. Wife and daughter in rocket ship behind me :-)

Oh, how could I forget the Lego?

Yo GAF!

Hi, I'm Luis and I'm 28 years old!

-I'm trying to finish my bachelor degree.... hopefully soon :/
-I live in the beautiful city named Santa Barbara in California :D
-I was born HoH (Hard of Hearing) and I'm fluent with American Sign Language and I can talk also.
-I have a Learning disability and parents thinks that I have Autism when I was young because I'm different. I didn't talk until I was 3 years old.
-I recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome (just a mild, I can still interact with friends and people)
-I love OLD Disney stuff from the 20's to 80's because I grew up with Mickey Mouse since I was a baby. Trying to get all old Disney movies.
-I love Star Wars (older generation, lost interest in newer 3 editions)
-I LOVE Geography and History, both are my favorite subject.
-I love anything from the 80s.
-I loved Video Games but now I don't play with them. Lost interest on them :( even though I still have the games and older systems from when I was young back in 1980s.
-English grammars isn't my best subject.
-I collect vintage Disney stuff.
-I collect vintage Super Mario and Legend of Zelda toys from the 1980s. I still have all my stuff since when I was a kid.
-I have an odd stimming (self-stimulation for Autism or Asperger's folks) whenever I'm alone, I body sway.
-I'm single and I'm loving it. Had been in relationship of 3 years back when I was 21 - 24. My ex is my best friend. Sure, sometimes that I want to be in a relationship but I'm not ready for it and I'm fine with it. Just want to have fun!
-I learned about GAF when I heard about Final Fantasy IV having a sequel and this is my first topic (and still my favorite one that made me laugh so hard) (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=216571)

So, glad to meet you all even the OP.

Sorry for long post!

Can't say I'm a fan, sorry. It's a little too heavy for my tastes. I'll still listen to a full album of theirs, and see whether I enjoy it or not. I hope I do, I could do with a new band right now.

I would link but I am on mobile....

Try the songs Neverender, the Crowing, The Light and the Glass, Wake Up...they have a ton of softer songs. I love their entire spectrum, the music is visually amazing and the lyrics are top notch.

Edit: Forgot Pearl of the Stars

Well, to be honest that's one of their heavier songs. You might enjoy Blood Red Summer, Feathers, A Favor House Atlantic, Once Upon Your Dead Body, or Goodnight, Fair Lady.

Thanks a lot to both, I'll listen to them tomorrow night (I miss my old earphones, if I still had them I'd do it during work hours). Now I'm off to bed, it's almost midnight here and I'm rather tired.

Hello, my name is Christian. I live in the Hershey/Harrisburg area of Pennsylvania. I'm 27 for about another week and a half, at which point I will turn 28. Weird, I know.

I'm currently going through a very tough period of my life. My wife of a little over 7 years (and over 11 years together) is divorcing me, and that should be finalized soon. Well, I guess I can say she's divorcing me, but if you ask her, I'm apparently the one that wanted this divorce. Very strange situation.

I like video games, movies, television, books, music, etc. Pretty much most media in general. Electronics rock. I love me some ferrets, and I wish I still had mine (3 passed away over the past year, and the 1 remaining went to my wife).

I'm currently taking a mindfulness meditation course. I believe it's been helping me a lot, and I think it's leading me on the correct path in life! Exciting stuff :)

Anyways, I find myself drawn to pretty much random threads on GAF. More so on the off topic forum. If it's on the gaming side, it's probably about Nintendo, as I've been a lifelong Nintendo fan.

I don't post much, but when I do, it's usually in spurts. I'll go for months without posting, and then I'll post a bunch within a week. Just random moods, I guess.

EDIT: Previously my GAF username was Biglesworth23, but I just got it changed within the past few weeks. I've used Biglesworth or Biglesworth23 for games for the past 16 years or so, but I'm just tired of having a misspelled name, so it's time for a change, WOOOOOO!

SECOND EDIT: Despite my name being Christian, I'm not a Christian. I'd label myself agnostic if I had to. I'm planning on naming my children after various religions and religious figures. <-- or not

THIRD EDIT: It's unfortunate being named after a religion, especially one you don't follow. Sigh. Automatically it's all "Oh Christian is such a beautiful name, god bless" type stuff. Bleh ;P

Hello, My name is Jon. I'm 23 years old. I'm from the Rochester, MN area. I work at IBM Rochester for Pfizer full-time and I'm also a full-time student at RCTC; going for my computer science degree. I tend to lurk mostly.

I'm late to this party, but I'm Dave.... go figure. Some people know me, most don't. I keep myself fairly low key on GAF, but I've been around for a while. I'm one of the older gents on here tipping the scales at 38 years old. I live in Northern Virginia, which is essentially a suburb of the Washington DC area. Moved out here to escape the crazies in Arizona. I'm married (sorry ladies) and have two beautiful daughters aged 9 and 4. My 4 year old is currently battling ALL T-Cell Leukemia and undergoing massive chemotherapy that will go on for 3 years. She's officially in remission, but they still have the treat to ensure that it doesn't come back.

On the bright side, I'm an IT geek. I work as a Senior Network Engineer for a large mortgage company. For fun that aren't vidya games, I fly remote control airplanes and strap little video cameras to them to film my airborne antics. I'm also just starting to get into brewing my own beer and have designated that after I get more comfortable with the process, I'm going to dedicate one to Breaking Bad and created Heisenbrew - Heffeweizen.

The Crowing is my favorite of theirs.

Hi, I'm Franklin.

I'm 23 years old, living in Kansas City, Missouri while attending community college. I live with my best friend, which is going pretty great. I'm mostly a pc gamer, although I find myself forgetting about quite a few games to focus on LoL. I work at an amusement park operating rides part-time while I attend school.

On neogaf I mostly stick to the NFL and pics that make you laugh thread, although I rarely post. I'm a rabid Chiefs fan, but my job keeps me from watching most sundays (although I'm not missing much this year. :c ) I tend to lurk a lot more often than I post, which explains why I'm still a junior member after being on this forum for ~2 years, I think.

This is me from a couple of years back, during my former fraternity's formal in St. Louis.

Edit: Holy shit, I've been a member since '08. Time flies.

My name is Jarrod.

309789_10150313501536u2sbj.jpg

I'm twenty five, and live in Melbourne, Australia. I enjoy listening to music, playing video games, watching movies, and reading, like all nerds. I can play piano and drums, though haven't touched the former in a decade, and have been missing the latter for a couple of years due to having nowhere to put my kit. I used to write for PALGN, and now write for Rocket Chainsaw, an Australian based video game website. Yes, I gave your favourite game 6/10 backed by poorly constructed arguments. Did I even play the game? You'll never know. I enjoy sampling good beers and relaxing to a smooth joint and good music.

I have a passion for technology and the philosophy behind virtual worlds and interactivity. When I get off my arse I'd like to pursue milestones in this medium/industry, ideally one day working with a team to create a game.

I'm fascinated by science and wildlife, spending most of my casual reading time learning about space, and animal life around the world. I'd love to spend most of my travel time visiting sanctuaries, safaris, and largely untouched areas of the world teeming with wildlife. I'd give almost anything to spend some time in space, another nerd fantasy, and it is one of things I hope becomes affordable before I die.

Also I can do a thousand backflips. I just did them while writing this.

EDIT: oh god i look like a hipster in that photo

Hey, I'm Zack. I'm 20, just shy of being able to go to Vegas for my friend's 21st birthday last month.

I'm a tech geek and like games of all kinds, from board to card to video, music from nearly every genre and have a healthy appreciation of reading, as in I sometimes read up to six books a week.

Despite all the geeky hobbies hiking is probably my favorite passtime, I grew up near a provincial park after all. (A really nice one, Wells Grey, check it out)

I'm a high school drop out, turned university student going in the vague direction of engineering, I'm not too hurried to get there.

Me too! It's really hard to pick a favorite, but The Crowing is only second to Everything Evil.

Yeah Everything Evil is so good as well. Second only to The Crowing. I was lucky and my Brother-in-Law took me to the SSTB tour they just did. So awesome to get to hear things they don't normally do off that album live.

Everything Evil is so amazing too. I want to vid more Coheed! But it's hard when there are proper names and such in the lyrics, I can't make it fit to anything. But apparently there is going to be an Amory Wars movie, which makes me so excited. I'll be able to vid Coheed....to Coheed! AHHHH

I saw that show in Portland, it was soooooooooo amazing.

Hey Dom/GAF, I'm Sean. I'm 25 and live in Northern Virginia. I'm currently working for the Boy Scouts, and while their membership policies are something I'm at odds with, I think the program they provide is exemplary.

I'm a huge gamer and mainly enjoy games with fantastic stories or innovative gameplay. I like to write short fiction and take hikes with my 70 lb. Cocker Spaniel/Lab mix Finnigan. I'm huge into comedy and may try my hand at stand up one day, though I'm currently working with a co-worker and some friends on some sketch comedy stuff to put on YouTube.

Hello everyone. My name is Rob. I live in Spokane, Washington. I'm 25 years old. Lurked gaf for years, don't really post that often.

My biggest hobby is movies. I also collect tarantulas and I'm an artist. This is a work I did based on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

That's awesome work, man. That's my favorite movie, and it really captures them well.

Costume suggestions, you say? Do you sell them?

Nope. I get asked if I do commissions pretty often but I'm too lazy to put all that work into a costume to not wear it myself.

that hair looks mad cute

cut it again! short haired girls foreva

Thanks! I did enjoy the ease of having short hair, but I've had long hair for the vast majority of my life. Short just doesn't look right to me.

My laziness also doesn't help. I get my hair cut once, maybe twice a year.

This is a nice thread, I appreciate it Dominic!

My name is .
I'm 21 and trying to finish up my bachelor's degree presently in Psychology.
I've been maintaining a 7 year relationship with my boyfriend (hoping to get married soon) which has been good, we have our ups and downs but nothing abnormal.
I have major depression that I started to recognize 3-4 years ago, and it's an on going battle without a therapist, but I'm trying not to give up.

I pretty much aspire to be a writer, but I'm questioning whether I really want to do that, and if not what is my true calling in life.
I do know that I love art but coincidentally, I pretty much suck at free hand art.
Although I'm a pretty decent baker and cook I suppose.
One of the things I've been getting into is perler designs.
A sample of pieces I did a few months back:

^ Those are extremely well-done, Anita! I wouldnt' mind having a little yoshi like that lurking around my own place. :)

Hello Dominic and hello GAF, this thread is kind of fun if only to see that it really is a community made up of just...well, people.

So yeah, howdy! I'm Karl (yes with a K, proud of it), I'm 26 and I live in Michigan.
I went through college from the University of Michigan with a degree in Communication Studies, which I believe to be a misnomer as the entirety of my curriculum centered around mass media. I got the degree with an eye towards getting into the consumer marketing/advertising business, but haven't gotten there as my business networking skills leave something to be desired and I never got a decent "in."
Instead, for the time being I work at Discraft as a production manager. I do enjoy disc golf, but only actually play it extremely rarely.

As for GAF-related activities, I lurk around the gaming side far more than I actually post, and the only off-topic, er, topics that I frequent would be the NFL thread as well as the single malt whisky thread. GAF is actually the reason I started getting into scotch-tasting in the first place, so I thank you for that! (My wallet, however, does not)

Hello, you may call me Debbie. It's a terrible nickname for a guy, but its what I got stuck with. I'm 30, happily married, and have been slowly clawing my way up the ladder at a poultry plant for 8 years now.

I enjoy video games to a point, but my real interests involve more hands on hobbies like woodworking and mechanics. Which explains why my current weekend project is restoring the wooden bedbox of a 70s era Chevy. Two for one deal!

I have been to all 48 continental states and Alaska. I have also been to Mexico and Canada several times.

My best kept secret: I still own my Star Wars micromachines, and will play with them occasionally.

Good luck with that relationship! And good job on those pieces as well.

I should really expand on my initial post...
