Those were in the first LEGO set I had, which was a Christmas gift from my parents.

I imagine the custom baseplates cost TLG a lot to manufacture, hence the move away from them.
The Scorpion Pyramid set from last year had a raised baseplate.

But when nearly every big space set came with one, it should cut down on costs.
I keep hoping that next year's space theme is some sort of classic Space revival, complete with ye olde baseplates, but with the set names we have that does not seem to be the case.
If they think the sets' designs are why Ninjago was so mega popular then they are terribly mistaken.
While I just want a huge army of Lego ninjas, the dragon sets in Ninjago are pretty damn cool looking.
Damn straight they are.

Do you watch the show? It was really good tonight! My son and I really like the show.
Gotta start somewhere. Look forward to seeing results.Been trying to come up with some kind of MOC (this will be my first as an adult... made some shitty stuff as a kid of course). I have been rebuilding some old castle sets (to make a Kingdom!), so I am trying to do either a tree fort type thing for my Robin hood type figures or maybe just a small blacksmith shop to start up. Just winging it with random pieces I have. Should be suitably terrible... haha.
You will not regret it.
Any idea how much it weighs? I've had to get it sent to work as Amazon (UK) send big parcels via a delivery company that has never been able to actually deliver to me and has the worst customer service you could imagine.
I'll be having to take the train some 7 stops carrying it....... I'm thinking about trashing the box at work to make it easier but I have all the boxes for my UCS's.

Warning - Amazon.co.uk lists the wrong RRP for the Monster sets (£58.72 instead of £39.99 in this case). Discount is misleading. When the Monster Fighter sets first appeared on amazon.co.uk, only a third party was selling it at inflated prices - and that price has since then stayed, throwing off any discount trackers.
Just got my catalog. Anyone want my 10% Lego store coupon, pm me your address. First come.
Set 3300014 - A small red horse-drawn sleigh with 4 minifigures, 2 small pine trees, a bench and a black lamp post adorned with a holiday wreath.
I used to have (and really miss) these baseplates

I've got the Fire Brigade. I've got a coupon and two Lego stores within 20 miles: which modular do I buy?
I've just been assigned the terrible task of securing the large Iron Man and Hulk figures for the kids. What a horrible life I lead!
Thanks, they've got in stock at the Michigan Ave Chicago store. I'll pick it up tomorrow.Grand Emporium. Even if it is staying in print or not (rumors now say it is gone before Fire Brigade), it is still next in line. After that Pet Shop and finally Town Hall.

Grand Emporium was in the recent catalog though, wasn't it? Fire Brigade was not.
AFOL day in the UK on 11th November (from brickset). Stores open an hour earlier than usual just for AFOLs, and 15% off everything in store.
Was planning to grab the haunted house tomorrow for double points (+ £5 off voucher) but 15% off (plus 5% points?) might be worth waiting for.
But then haunted house would be good to build for Halloween
I know, but there was that rumor last week about GE going OOP now and Fire Brigade still sticking around. Unless it is just Lego trying to drum up sales with FUD. It worked for many.
The same people said Fire Brigade was gone six months ago. Awaiting official word.My local unofficial Lego store said the same thing. Lego has told them it's done, and that Fire Brigade will be around for the foreseeable future.
If anyone has been on the fence about picking up the B-Wing due to price, and doesn't care about the condition of the box, Amazon Warehouse has it for $127.50!
Caveat: "This item may come repackaged." meaning that the box is likely in a bad state, or you may not even get the box itself. Still, 36% off is nothing to scoff at.
Shit you're right, I just saw B-Wing and got excited. False alarm people! That's the old one though right?

Trust no one, Mr. Mulder.
Beat me to it.Fixed
Outside is killer. Fire Brigade and Pet Shop win for interior.Floor two of Grand Emporium...done!
I'm pretty happy with the general architecture on the outside of the building, but the lack of details on the inside is pretty boring. It needs like clothing racks, or more registers or something.
