I need to clear off some room on my 32 GB card for the slew of amazing games all coming out on Tuesday, and I want to make sure that all of my saves are preserved. I will be transferring my files to my PS3.
My question is:
Do I choose "Copy Content" or "Backup Utility" to preserve my saves?

After setting aside money for Christmas shopping, I won't be able to afford RO on day one. I'll have to wait for the $20 PSN credit to come through from SCEA. Bummer.

I don't want to backup my entire Vita. Just a few games. Do I still have to select Backup? Or, if I just select Copy Content and copy individual games over, will that also copy the save?
^ Well, you should probably back up just for general purposes, but if you really want to forego that, yes I think you can just copy the individual saves over. I think that's what i did when I switched from 4gb to 16gb, I needed to transfer them back and forth.

Yeah if you want to just select games you can use the copy option - it should still work as far as i know

I just ordered a Vita today. Can anyone link me to a comprehensive list of PSP and PSX games that are BC? After Googling, I can see the original lists put out by Sony and then piecemeal accounts of other games working outside of the store. None of them look particularly complete though. I am just trying to get a handle on which of my games are going to transfer and which aren't.
Also, is Sony updating these lists or have they pretty much been ignored?

Thanks guys. I will use the "Copy Content" option and hope the copy includes my save. Tears will be shed if it doesn't. But you gotta do what you gotta do. AC3: Liberation, NFS: Most Wanted, Ragnarok Odyssey, and Lego LotR all on the same day!

Awesome, thanks. I will boot up my PS3 and check out the store. From what people were saying, it seemed like a whole bunch of games weren't listed as compatible in the store but still worked via transfer. Hopefully all of that got ironed out.

Just look on the Vita's PSN store when you get it and all of the PSP/PSone games that work on it will be on there. Also, buy Mutant Blobs Attack.

I've been streaming videos of both Minecraft and Fallout 3 on my Vita, pretending I'm actually playing them... sad I know ;( Anyway I've been playing RCR a lot, really digging the story mode. I can't wait to unlock the final free roam characters. I find it so ridiculous that you spawn with all the weapons you "unlock" in story mode, in free roam. Not only that, but you spawn with 99 ammo of each bahaha.

Heh. From what people were saying it seemed like there was a bunch of stuff not listed on the store that still worked as long as you transferred via the ps3. Like for instance neither Silent Hill was listed on the store, but both would work if you downloaded them to ps3 and copied the bubble dealie over to the Vita. Same way that sony said "hey like 4 psx games are compatible" when really it was a ton of games.
Also, I will check out Mutant Blobs Attack.

for downloaded games, yes. It's probably due to piracy concerns (game saves were key to psp hax0rs), but it's still fucking retarded.
You can always do the slowass backup though!
Oh sorry, maybe. In Europe, basically every Vita compatible game is available to download directly on Vita - not sure if that holds true for the US though. Apologies!
There's a full Liberation advert around on UK TV. Can't see why it wouldn't be on US TV too.

Keep in mind that there are still a few unlisted games, so it would be better to ask before buying a game just in case it's not compatible! It's not nearly as bad as it was, though.

Does the backup on the Vita work the same way it did on PS3, where you could only transfer a single save at a time?

Backups of the Vita are literally everything on your memory card including your downloaded games, and you might as well make Thanksgiving dinner while waiting for it to finish.

Because SCEA. This is the first time I've heard of the game's existence outside of the internet.
That sucks. SCEE has a co-adveritising thing with Ubisoft and EA at the moment, so all AC3 adverts mention Liberation too, and there's full Liberation adverts. The NFS advert mentions Vita version at the end too.
Pity SCEA doesn't try as hard, lol.

For example, I have a 32 GB card which is completely full with games purchased and downloaded from PSN. I need to make room so that I can download 4 new games on Tuesday. So, I don't need to backup all 32 GB on my card just to download 4 new games, right? I can just copy 4 or 5 individual games (and their saves) currently on my card over to my PS3/PC using the "Copy Content" option in order to free up enough room, delete those games, and then download some new games.
I think. Right?????

What's confusing though is that I just copied over Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational from my Vita to my PS3, but on the Vita, the application is 1308 MB but the copy on the PS3 is only 1287 MB. That is a 21 MB difference, which could be the size of a save file. Not sure though. No idea why there is a size difference.
I have no idea, heh. So far as i know, copying should copy the save file though
Maybe the size difference is due to game patches?
There's no way the save file for Hot Shots Golf is 21MB, haha.
Perhaps patches, or DLC.
We're thinking along the same lines. Pretty sure it would be patches. Because those definitely wouldn't transfer with a copy.

Speaking of patches (I think this has been discussed), how quickly (or not) do they download on the Vita? I've never experienced the horrendous times some people have on the PS3, but still take a lot longer than it should.
Guess I'll finally get to see firsthand in two more days!
