Haha, thanks again. I kind of want to try that site for that old Bank set they made back in the 80's. I don't use Bricklink enough but I may be using it more now!

Anywho, already found a US store that has all the pieces I need (Plus some pieces from my general wanted list) so it's time to order!

As one WHSmith employee said to to the other, for the umpteenth time, "give the man his toy" I felt a slight need to justify myself with a little white lie and say it's for my nephew but instead I simply walked out clutching my polybag........

Still it's a nice parts pack so I don't mind.

Agreed. *hmph*

Seriously, sometimes I wonder what people do in their spare time. I build with LEGO, build plastic Gundam models, and play video games. Do people without hobbies just sit around and watch TV?

yea i often ask myself what people do as their hobby.
hell I even ask myself that about my gf (of 6+ years)... :p
whenever people think I am weird for spending my free time with lego, games or whatever I just think, well at least im not bored...

So what do you all do for space? Do you take kits apart and store them to make room for others? I'm really scratching my head as I'm really running out of common places to put stuff but constantly want more.

I've been with my fiancee for 8 years and the EXACT same question goes through my mind. I don't get people, haha.

take apart, sort into my huge army of resealable boxes.
and rebuild whenever I feel like it ^^
or use the parts to custom build something.

currently I only have the jedi starfighter and the firebrigade build up (not dismantled them till now)
and this weekend my gf and I built the earth defence HQ and the farm attack sets.

should be easy enough just get me a game, good movie or lego set and I'll be more than happy with it.
but what to give her?! and daring to ask is just begging for trouble :p

ps I am really glad you have the EXACT same question in your head, I always thought I was a very inconsiderate bf for not knowing my gfs hobbies xD

Our modular 'street' is currently taking up the bottom bunk of my son's bunkbed. Various other models are on some shelves in the spare room, and my two trains are on the top of a sideboard.

Something will have to give though if I want to build something else. I already have a big box of pieces I need to sort and put away, not looking forward to that.

somebody pick me up a mini quinjet, I can't get to WHsmith and it looks so cute.

I just went to see if I could grab more (would have traded for random spare parts up to 50p in value) and although they had plenty of papers all the Jets were out. During lunch I read a thread on Brickset forum asking how many is too many. Some people think 10 is OK.

The note on the shelf says " we expect to not refuse up to 5 copies".

Yea, I just don't want to take apart and put away any of mine, I got mostly larger display pieces up and like them on display. Picking one even to take down bugs me. Problem also with my art collecting which is taking up lot of wall space that I could otherwise add shelves and such too. Hobbies fighting for space

Just waiting for pay day to order Fire Brigade. Damn these modulars for being so fun! I love building them and my son loves playing with them/destroying them (I'm getting good at patching them back up!).

I'll echo something I read above - I'd love to see "booster packs" for the modulars - sets with additional furniture and such to add to the interiors. I've added in some of my own touches, but I'm betting Lego could do some great ones.

[Ordered Winter Post Office, btw.]

I have purchased many bookcases and shelving units in the last 2 years. Right now I'm working out getting a set of shelves to go into a corner of one room (and span about 5 feet in either direction) so I have a better solution for my 5 (soon to be 6) modulars.

R2-D2 and the B-wing have already found a place to be, and I have no plans of taking them down.

My eventual goal is to have a permanent display home for any sets with 1000+ pieces (or at least the ones with set numbers in the 10,000 series).

Rumor is spreading around this morning as to the characters in the Series 9 CMF's:

• Alien Trooper
• Chicken Suit Guy
• Maid Marion
• Heroic Knight
• Cyclops
• Mermaid
• Fortune Teller
• Dr. Splitz
• Roller Derby Girl
• Judge
• Battle Mech <------wut?
• Caesar
• Downtown Cop
• Plumber
• Waiter
• Hollywood Starlet

What would be kinda cool is if one of the CMF line is all retro, including figures from older lines like the 80's and 90's. I hope they do it (Even though I have all of the old minifigs I could want) one day.

YAY!

yoyo.com has 30% off on everything (for new accounts). Maximum discount of $20 and free shipping on orders over $50. Could work well for some small to mid-sized Lego orders.

I want this figure sight unseen.

The list looks plausible. They've been pairing off gendered figures for a while now so we're due for a Mermaid. Judge is a great idea, as is a Heroic Knight.

I have to go to the cinema early in the morning on Sunday so I'm hoping there's a Smiths nearby to pickup just before the film starts or they have stock left after I get out.

Also Dr. Splitz? Google shows my a monkey character from an old cartoon.

Wind howling outside the windows here in CT. Been slowly disassembling a lot of big sets to do a time lapse build. At least I can do that if the power goes out. Of course, building Lego by candlelight would be tough. Cant tell colors as well. But at least I can take apart and sort.

Re-build the Imperial Shuttle?

The modulars are the one theme I would recommend over all others. Catching up is expensive, but you only have to worry about one set a year. It is like a special present each year, and no need to worry about a summer assortment or anything.
It's certainly one of the better themes right now. Unless you are super OCD and jumped in late where you are pretty much forced to spend a lot of money to complete the set. (frankly that's one of the appeals of the line too)

Well if it is so wrong you better make things right by getting me one. ;)

AFOL day in the UK is 11th November so getting there early will net you 15% off.

Wonder if they will have the mystery Christmas set ready by then.
AFOL?

Oh and I checked the November calendar and the Mystery Christmas Gift comes later in the month so you won't get it at the AFOL Day.

But it seems there will be free delivery until Christmas in the UK.

For all you Minifig collectors.

i was in Target today, and they got their pre-order cards for Lego City Undercover, and the Chase McCain fig is attached to the card. Only $1 down, and no commitment to buy (they don't even take your info, you just bring the card in when you get the game if you want it).

So even if you don't want the game, it's a $1 exclusive minifig.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't see myself getting out tomorrow, but I'll have to check this out Wednesday or Thursday.

boooo..could still be cool but boooo

It would be wonderful to have a cyclops the superhero minifigure so I could have it go through extraordinary amounts of suffering. Shelob, the egyptian scorpion thing, snakes, gandalf, the hobbits, dynamite, superheroes I actually like, robots, firefighters, shakespeare.... everyone could have a turn sipping on the haterade and laying down some abuse.I'd probably break it to bits and make installations immortalizing his pain throughout my little lego world.

If they do more xmen I hope it's someone cool like Colossus, Storm, or beast and not that mutie scum.

edit: In hindsight this is more hate than a fictional character deserves. Oh well, nba season will give me a healthier outlet for the hate starting tomorrow. The Miami Heat are almost real people.

Three out of four modulars disassembled and sorted. Almost out of space in sorting containers. Need to get a bit creative to make more room.

I forgot just how long it takes to take these things apart. But putting them all back together is going to be an EPIC build.

On you guys' recommendation I picked up the Millennium Falcon(my first 1k+ build) last week and had a blast putting it together. I think Im hooked on the larger builds now because it seems you get more for your money in terms of build time (I stretched it out over the course of a few days).

I still have the Y-Wing to put together (also picked that one up last week) but Im starting to think about my next big set. I really like the look of the modular buildings like Grand Emporium and Fire Brigade. However, since I already have the Falcon, X-wing, Tie and Y-wing built I'm thinking about building out my Star Wars fleet first before moving to the modular buildings (although I am getting sick of the color grey).

Not ready to take the plunge on SSD and Death Star yet, unless they are going OOP. Thinking R2D2 (but he's not a ship) or the Imperial Shuttle (kinda expensive though). Any recommendations?

Imperial Shuttle is a goner. Jump in it ASAP.

Shameless timelapse build of the shuttle

As for modulars, Fire Brigade was what everyone thought was going OOP this year (and is not in the catalog), but this past month rumors abound that Grand Emporium is the one to be going OOP (even if it is in the catalog).

EDIT: And three modulars broken down looks like this:

6990 pieces so far. Only 2231 pieces left to disassemble and add to the pile.

Thanks, I'll probably get the shuttle then. While I really really want to start on the modular buildings I'll forever regret not picking up the shuttle at 250 when its 700 in a year, lol.

BTW, Im thinking about opening all the bags at once instead of one at a time, is this something you recommend as an adult builder? Im finding the numbered system a bit to easy. However it does keep the mess down and creates easy stopping points (ie.one or two bags per day).

The numbered bags are good for staggering the build, and makes clean up easy.

Now, the Imperial Shuttle does not have numbered bags. It is all or nothing.

Wow, ok. I'll have to figure out a place to start the build and organize the pieces. While i do have display space I dont have much build space (ie. a large table). I'll pick it up from Amazon on thursday so I'll have it for the weekend.

You putting all the pieces in one pile, or at least sorting into similar types?

That's a lot of pieces in containers. One reason I'm keeping my modulars built is that I'm not sure our storage could cope with that many pieces hitting it.
