Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

I would be so disappointed if the third Dissidia game ends up coming out on 3DS instead of the Vita, but I don't doubt that that is certainly a possibility just so Square-Enix doesn't have to render higher res models like Capcom with Monster Hunter.

Also, is it basically confirmed that the people doing Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 remix are probably going to finish that before doing Final Fantasy X HD?

dude there's like 2 programmers on kh hd 1.5 super sora remix that's not going to help ffx

Who's picked up Dokuro? The OT is pretty inactive.

not out in canada

Like I said in the Square Enix forecast revision thread, they are the epitome of incompetence. Wada is the sultan of sucking as an executive and visionary. It's time for a change.

DQ 7 on the 3DS but not on Vita?

only way dairy queen 7 would be on vita is if SCE ponyed up some cash

a lot of cash

and that would only guarantee psv/3ds not exclusive

SE is parody of itself whole this generation.

Their console efforts suck - there's FF XIII + 2 MMOs and literally nothering else except few half assed games , their handheld effort is barely better but that's mostly due to a lot of them being remake of remake of previous games from good years.

If i try to think about good SE games in last 6 years i only find Type-0 and TWEWY.

I don't know the release date of dissidia 012 but I loved that game. I thought it was fantastic. In fact I still play it on my vita every few days

They could have spent 9 months from the time it released to the time the Vita was released in Japan to port it over to the Vita with some online infrastructure and it probably would've been the highest selling Vita game at launch.

I agree. That doesn't change the fact it is a great game made by SE though :)

All for $98 after gift cards and Target price match at BB.

Busy day ahead! Also got the Hori Vita Grip in the mail. =D

maybe they though type-0 -> dissidia 012 -> xiii-2 -> thearhythm was too much

Just played 3 events online in NFS:MW and all seemed solid except for the race seemed to have a little lag. Obviously this is just from a small sampling of events but overall it seems like online should work well. I really enjoy how they mix up the events and it isn't just about racing. The first event was a drift challenge in which you had to try and get the longest drift in a warehouse area, the next was a race, and the last was an event in which everyone in an area had to try and get two takedowns.

I'm so excited.....

my card is ready

Why is SE so quiet in Vita development. The platform could've used a DQ game. I just don't understand them.
Developing a Vita-level game is expensive + Vita isn't doing well + they put a lot of effort into PSP games and released some of the best JRPGs on it yet their games sold like shit (outside Japan).

Jim Sterling tweets:

Not sure if my Ragnarok Odyssey review will be up today, so let me just go ahead and spoil it: Game is fucking ace.

Nobody ever seems to reply in the PSMobile thread >.< Check out this interesting post on sixty second shooter coming to PSmobile tomorrow :) http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/10/30/playstation-mobile-sixty-second-shooter-deluxe/

I only bought Super Crate Box and it reminded me of why I just don't play games on my phone. You see all there is to see in about 10 minutes, and then it just bore me to tears.

It was only 7MB but I was still glad to retake that space on my memory card. :(

Hopefully when the store opens up we'll see some games with more depth. I'd love to see VVVVVV or 10000000 on the platform.

The first Dissidia, and Crisis Core sold very well world wide. The problem was that they took too long for Birth By Sleep, Third Birthday, Dissidia 012, and Type-0.

Hey guys, any impressions on NFSMW? I've heard less traffic and non-native rez, but how does it look/play in person?

I haven't saw a lot of console video but it definitely seems like less traffic but not a ghost town like some videos showed. I have been playing a lot of multiplayer and it is amazing. Played a couple more events and it was running real smooth. In my opinion the visuals are fine. The car models aren't stunning but when you are dring fast it doesn't matter. The controls feel great and it plays like a NFS game. Honestly this may just be the hype of playing a new game talking but I feel like this is the type of game I was waiting to come out for the Vita.

Hm, i see your point, but for me that's exactly what i love about them. The only reasons i don't play these games on my phone are 1) lack of buttons and 2) it will quickly kill my battery. So to have this sort of game on my Vita is perfect for me :)

I would love a game where Morgan Freeman, John Cleese & Stephen Fry all narrate your actions in. Like Bastion ... just with the voices of gods.

Haha that would be amazing

iOS version went free last week.

Unless a game is really special, I'm only planning to play big games on Vita. The cheap little indie games I'll play for free or 99cents here and there on iOS.

Seems like Liberation is getting average-to-decent reviews.

Well, negative reviews have never stopped people from buying AC in droves, so that probably won't be a factor in Liberation's success.

Both Dissidias were awesome, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep & 3D are great, 3rd Birthday is fun though flawed, Theatrhythm is really good as well. Bravely Default has been getting some good rep. While I don't like the series personally, Dragon Quest IX was received really well (not sure how Dragon Quest X has fared, at least it didn't create as much of a backslash after release as vanilla FFXIV). And yes, there are TWEWY, which is one of the best RPGs (not just J) around, and Type-0 which, sadly, isn't available in other than moonspeak yet. On portables, they've been churning out great games for years & years. And now that they are hopefully rid of their technical problems that marred their console development, their console side has been showing signs of improvement (other than Toriyama's inability to write well).

So... uhh.. yeah, aside stupid blind hate that too many people have against Square Enix nowadays, they are doing really well. Most of their games are at the very least decent and a lot of them are really good, even among the best in their respective genres, especially gameplay-wise.

– Forced Vita functionality

LOL. Sad to hear about the framerate. Was hoping for something stable. Then again AC 2/ Brotherhood was laggy as crap on my PS3 and it only bothered me when I went back to it on PS3 after playing it on PC.

I never noticed the lag on AC2 for some reason. Maybe because I bought it digitally. Maybe because that's just how I expected the game to be. I really don't know.

Controlling Super Crate Box with a keyboard was infuriating enough that I can't even imagine trying to do it with only a touch screen. If I really thought the game would be fun for me, I'd cough up the 3.50 to have it on a device with an analog stick and buttons.

I noticed it when I started playing. After a few hours though I couldn't really tell anymore. It didn't really bother me tbh. But when I played the PC version, I couldn't go back. I tried so many times. But again this only became an issue once I saw another version of the same content running at silky high framerate.

Doubt I'll get annoyed with it on Vita though, not like I can play Liberation on my pc :)

It sometimes seems it's harder for portable games to get good reviews. Assassin's Creed has had similar problems in the past (especially framerate ones), yet somehow Liberation is 7.2 while, for example, the first game was a boring pile of shit yet it got hyped to high heavens and got, like, a 12.9/10 from IGN.

Haha, actually iirc, the first AC got a 7/10 from IGN

They were highly criticized for it, of course

EDIT: 7.5, apparently

Just noticed the NFSMW shots a few pages back....doesn't look too great. Anybody else have any further impressions? Thinking Ima try and pick this up on Black Friday.

Personally I thought the original AC was the best one. I wasn't really a fan of the move to GTA:Renaissance either and stopped playing after completing ACII.

7.5 = 12.9

By this logic, AC Liberation actually got a 12.6.

Hooray!
