US PSN: Spend $100 during October, get $20 back

I bought AC3 digital because Amazon couldnt ship mine in time (thanks a lot Sandy) but the only other thing I bought all month was Sega Rally for 3 bucks...

Can't justify Dishonored or NFS at full price with Black Friday right around the corner. No way for me to reach 100

Flip a coin. They are both great bang for your buck games. Either way you'll be busy with many, many hours of enjoyment. I guess the question is whether you'dd prefer to spend those hours looking at your TV or a portable.

Edit: Oops, guess I'm too late. I know nothing about minis, sorry.

I spend more time playing on the PS3 but I have a backlog, I COULD play Okami+a game from my backlog tho.
On the other hand I've been wanting to try out Suikoden and Alundra, and have wanted to revisit Klonoa as I like the series.

At any rate, most votes went to Okami so I guess I'll get that XP

I Just remembered there was some Valkyria Chronicles DLC that I wanted but didn't have yet. Bought both the Edy packs.

I'm pretty sure I should be over the $100 now, but there are two DLC purchases I made for Test Yourself that don't show up on my record of transactions. Weird.

That being the case, I have $10.10 left, and according to my math I need to spend $2.12 to hit $100.

Are there any really good minis? Some of the old SNK ones look kind of fun.

You can't go wrong with Prehistoric Isle or Street Smarts.

You can't go wrong with Prehistoric Isle or Street Smarts.

I remember Street Smarts well. I think the only motivation I'd have to pick it up would be the theme song though. I remember the gameplay being really basic. Prehistoric Isle is an idea, and Ikari III is looking kind of tempting. I also used to play the NES Ikari II a lot...it was simultaneously the worst thing ever made and strangely compelling. Maybe in the arcade version you can understand the voices.

is there an easy way to get a rough idea of how much I've spent on PSN this month? basically just using the downloads list I guess? are there dates on that?

Can I buy stuff on someone else's PS3 with my PSN account without it being a problem? I don't plan on downloading/installing the games, just purchasing them. My apartment is currently without power due to Sandy, and I don't feel like driving there just to pick up my PS3 so I can take it somewhere with power.

Go to Transaction History, and limit the Date Range to October. You should see a full list of downloaded content with both price and date of purchase.

Yup, but only tally up the numbers in parentheses as these denote payments to PSN, which is what counts towards the $100. The other numbers are funding from your credit card to your PSN account, which does not count towards the $100.

After spending way more time than I should have looking at video and opinions on games this afternoon, I decided to go with Where Is My Heart? Seems to have a lot of positive opinion surrounding it, and it looks really charming and inventive.

$100 reached!

Okami HD will be mine.

Still need to spend $60 more, not sure if I should get the games I want now or just wait for the inevitable end of the year sale.

Very good choice, sir.

This deal was super easy with a Vita. LBP, Little King's Story, AC:L. I'm torn between using the 20 for Ragnorok Odyssey or NFS.

Buy a year of PS+ and a $10 game. I renewed PS+ to get halfway there, then Little Kings Story, Sunflowers & RCR filled out the rest.

Not sure what I'm going to get with my $20. Possibly two FF games, or Trails in the Sky, or Tactics Ogre. Or maybe just use it towards Gravity Rush.

One Piece = 29.99
Dead or Alive 5 = 59.99
Unfinished Swan = 14.99
Shinobi = 1.00
KOF XIII DLC = 2.44 x 3

BUT... i didn't received the code yet =/

(Oh, btw, I'm gonna buy Okami HD)

14.99 Retro City Rampage
01.25 Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime
02.50 AMY
04.19 Zen Pinball 2 Monsters Bundle
02.99 Sega Rally Online Arcade
14.99 Killzone HD
39.99 Need For Speed Most Wanted (VITA)
19.99 Okami HD

100.89

AC: Liberation $35.99
Littlebigplanet $35.99
MGS Collection $34.99

Total $106.97

I won't spend a dime for quite some time on PSN :). Now let's see what PS+ brings to the table for Vita.

Metal Gear Solid HD Bundle
Test Yourself: Psychology XL Bundle
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown Costume Pack A
Yakuza 4 Kazuma avatar
Virtua Fighter 5 Aoi avatar
Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker Big Boss avatar
Final Fantasy VIII
Chrono Cross
Alundra
Valkyria Chronicles - Selvaria's Mission: Behind Her Blue Flame
Valkyria Chronicles - Edy's Mission: Enter the Edy Detachment
Valkyria Chronicles - Challenge of the Edy Detachment
Where is My Heart?

I think that's all of it.

Honestly, this kind of sale is a genius move by their marketing dept. Ordinarily I never would have bought all this stuff, but instead I found myself scouring the PS Store for hidden gems. They should make this a regular thing, there's still a bunch of stuff I found that I'd go back for. My lone regret is not grabbing Dead Space 2 when it was $15. I thought that sale would last until Halloween.

But, I've got more than enough to last me for a while here.

Alright, looks like I reached $100. My list

3 Month PlayStation Plus = $17.99
Odin Sphere = $4.99
Costume Quest Bundle = $3.75
House of The Dead Bundle = $15.39
One Piece: Pirate Warriors = $29.99
Okami HD = $19.99
Persona 3: FES PS2 Classic = $9.99

Total = $102

Man, I feel pretty satisfied now with the buying plus with the discounts I got and the IGN Giveaway adding 6 more months to my sub. hah.

Need for Speed Most Wanted Pre-order
Mutant Blobs Attack
Zen Pinball Halloween Tables
Costume Quest Bundle
Infamous Festival of Blood
Okami HD
Unfinished Swan

Total: $103.32

Okami HD puts me at $100.10 for October. Almost feel like I should spend a few more dollars *just* to be safe, but that's just paranoia talking, hehe.

Wipeout HD/Fury
Infamous Festival of Blood
Mutant Blobs Attack
Gex PS1
Rochard
Sound Shapes
Gran Turismo PSP
Ridge Racer PSP
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max PSP
Klonoa®: Door to Phantomile PS1
The Impossible Game

$108.49 total.

Planning on spending the $20 on either Metal Slug Anthology or HSG Out of bounds complete.

Assassins Creed Liberation: $35
Assassins Creed 3: $60
The Unfinished Swan: $15
The Walking Dead Episode 4: $5
Retro City Rampage: $15

Total=130

Going to resub to Plus this month too. Must have been a great month for Sony on PSN.

Okami will be purchased using my free $20.

So looking at the amount of people buying One Piece: Pirate Warriors, can I assume it is good if you're a fan of both One Piece and the Warriors series?

Sounds like a good idea, except most of the games they offer on PS+ I already own. Other than the discounts, I don't really care for the service. How long do we have exactly? damn my indecisiveness.

Probably gonna get the new Ratchet game with my $20. Love that Cross-Buy.
I'm honestly going to be too distracted with PlayStation All Stars to play it though. Does the $20 go away at the end of November or is it yours to have do we know? I expect the latter, just checking

You get the code in November.

Yeah, OP Musou is good but it does have some gameplay ideas that it could've done without. Non the less it's fun and 2 player Musou mode is a blast if you have another person to play with.
Whitebeard
is a playable character.

i remember reading something about the $20 rebate eventually expiring.. is that confirmed?

The code that gives you $20 has an expiry date.
If you use the code, you'll keep the $20...in a sense seeing as you'd spend the $20 on PSN content =P

The code will expire in the first week of December. You should redeem it as soon as possible. Once it's redeemed, the $20 credit is there until you use it up.

Check the answer for comment 108 for official clarification regarding this.

PSN+ - $50
Killzone HD - $15
Odin Sphere - $5
Unfinished Swan - $15
Corpse Party - $10
Walking Dead 3 & 4 - $10
Closure - $5

Ended up getting all this:

God Hand (PS2): $9.99
GT5 - Car Pack 2 + HSV-010 (SUPER GT) '11 + Twin Ring Motegi: $9.98
MvC3 - Jill + Shuma: $9.98
Persona 3 FES (PS2): $9.99

SCIV - Yoda: $4.99
Wipeout HD Bundle: $12.99

Total: $104.24

Not sure on what I'll spend those $20... maybe on DOA5...

I see now why they did this promo. The new store was forced upon me and I can't find shit now. So I can't even spend the 20$.

I can think of no good reason why Sony doesn't do this every month.

Well, they have to give you $20. That's probably why. A big event like this once a year would make a lot of sense, though, or maybe make it a monthly PS+ benefit with smaller payouts (spend $50, get $5 back, or something).

Read this thread. People who would have never purchased all this stuff otherwise are making Sony a ton of money.

True, but that $20 eats into their profit. Doing special events like this highlight the store itself and gets people to get back into the store.

Plenty of people probably bought more than they usually do for this but didn't hit $100, either, so there's that too. A lot of people also probably bought PS+ subs to make up the $100, and those subscriptions go, mostly, directly to Sony themselves.

I bet they'll do this again once a year.
