For some reason I feel as if I should be clicking stuff. Never mind that I'm not from Canada and there's no mouse in my house

Ok so completely off topic but is there anywhere on GAF to advertise my youtube channel? That sounds way dodgy but it's honestly because you are my target audience and would have the best feedback.

Don't have a giantbomb account .. What were the major negatives? Just got the game today ...

Probably:

+It's Assassin's Creed

-It's Sony
-It's on Vita
-I had to actually use a Vita
-More points off for being on Vita
-I had to take time off from playing my 360 to actually use a Vita
-It's not Halo

1/5

Just continue to full site. Don't need to login.

Personally I thought the review seemed pretty fair. It didn't sound overly condescending simply because it was on a handheld. The complaints seemed pretty valid

Yet to play it myself though, so we'll see

Make quality videos at a regular schedule, and post a link to new videos here. That's probably about the best you'll be able to do, but you'll get followers if they're good quality and you post at a normal schedule.

Yeah, Gravity Rush seems like a lot of fun from the demo, but I hear it's very short. Definitely not a $40 purchase for me. Same with Uncharted.

I think both of those games are worth more than 40$, I bought each game on day one and were happy with the games at what they cost then.

I have only completed Uncharted:GA, tough. :)
On my Uncharted-chart of wich games I liked best when playing them.
I would say U2 is on top, U3 at shared number two spot with U:Golde Abyss, while the first game is the worst game of the three. :P

Gravity Rush is a big game, people claiming it's short is crazy. :-/

I believe if you are from Canada, by clicking on the buttons somewhere there's a chance to win free games and stuff. If I'm not mistaken, both Zeer0id and Takao gave away codes to get $10 off Declassified. Not sure on the finer details

The codes are unrelated to this thing. I still have mine, btw!

Got it. The review was much more readable than the IGN drivel. Points seem valid although I personally have just started the game.

So there's something else as well? I saw you two mentioning buttons once, and shortly after you both had codes, so I guess I just assumed. I remember you ( and Takao) offering the codes, I figured people would have picked it up. Shows how much we are anticipating the game!

Just go watch a film or something and click away. In some games where you have to do annoying things like that, I just put something on. Makes it much easier.

Just read giantbomb review of AC, seems the main negative was the way the story was told being sort of misleading and having to find some hacker to give you the truth.. ok

Is it fun? How is it holding up for you guys, hope it is good. Just basically 'wasted' the whole day on NFSMW!

Just bought NFSMW off the PSN store, downloading as we speak.

I think I'm passing on AC3:L as I'm not a fan of the series(didn't like both 1 and 2)

I'll wait for a black friday sale for Virtues Last Reward and Ragnarok Odyssey.

It's not perfect so don't let hype get you. I think Giantbombs review is pretty fair. If you are a fan of the previous Assassins Creeds you will probably really enjoy it. It adds some fresh stuff like personas and scenery if you haven't played AC3 yet. It looks better in motion and on the Vita screen but, yea, it won't be confused for a console version. Still it is amazing the gameplay and AC package is still working on a handheld and plays pretty damn good. Some of the forced touch controls and stuff is a bit distracting and not necessary but thankfully they are usually just quick little things.

Personally i'm regretting getting this before Ragnarok, especially now that it looks like I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can get RO. This would have been a retail half off sale pick up for me, beat it then trade it in. Oh well, at least I supported a great effor by a publisher on the Vita so that counts.

Thanks for clarifying Ponn01, sounds quite good you know - AC experience/gameplay on the go (I don't expect console graphics for these large, open games for the vita anyway). I sort of got tired after the first AC way back...but will still pick it up when I can as it's on vita and that automatically makes it 50% funner for me*. Hope you enjoy it some more before RO, and thanks again.

*no joke, it's definitely the case for me. Even when I was playing NFSMW on PC, I was just thinking...man I want this in my hands! Sorry to see a few people let down by it but glad I'm chuffed. £40 is more then I'm comfortable to let go off for most games.

TBH with AC I know what I'll be doing most times I play it - just messing around in the towns etc. Do people find the areas themselves any fun? The giantbomb review said some areas didn't have too much at all outside of the main story elements but I'm looking to do some nice free running ..

Btw as seks mentioned in the lbp thread, update out. One of the changes was fixing the update-all button...using it atm, so far about 30 minutes in...trying to update 14 levels..no idea of the progress..same screen as if it was updating a single level. I want to play NFS :'(

WTF is up with all the good Canada deals for Vita stuff :<

edit: and AC looks interesting, I just hate games set in New Orleans (or similar cities, ala Infamous 2).

that's... a stretch

Well, he don't say that Vita is shit, but he really don't like "console-like" experiences on Vita. Because they never can be exactly the same as in console.

Is quite a stupid argument. And checking other games, seems the usual in Vita reviews in GiantBomb. They say that instead of Uncharted GA you should buy Uncharted 3 because is the real console experience, or that Wipeout 2048 doesn't look as fast as the PS3 one.

Dumb question maybe but if my memory card doesn't have the 128 mb free then ... do I still have the extra VRAM?

rofl. nvm
yes

the v doesn't stand for virtual. (video ram)

I'm pretty sure that's not what he was saying at all. He basically said it was a valiant effort but it failed more often than it succeeded in reaching that supposed holy grail.

Liberation is a game you'll want to like. Its protagonist is an intriguing one, and her mission frequently teases greatness. But it never quite arrives, due to the developers' inability to marry the "full-fledged" Assassin's Creed gameplay to the Vita's form and function. There is undoubtedly a happy medium out there somewhere for this series on handhelds.

This isn't blaming the hardware.

Not the hardware itself, but the attempt of making a "console-like" experience:

If the PlayStation Vita does not develop into a successful handheld platform, then one need only look to a game like Assassin's Creed III: Liberation to understand why. Liberation is emblematic of many of the problems with Sony's technically advanced handheld system. At first glance, it looks astoundingly good, like the true realization of a console-quality experience on a handheld system. Then you dig further into it, and realize why maybe that's not such a great idea.

The problem is the complete comparision of PS3 versions of the games. In all games. Wipeout. Uncharted. NFSMW. ACIII. You'll never see reviews of, for example, SMB3DLand saying that you can find Mario Galaxy for the same price.

His main points that lead to that conclusion were forced persona (outfit) limitations early on, a sort of storytelling struggle and that the early areas were less fun to re-explore then the later ones..

He even says:

Still, traversing Liberation's lavishly recreated New Orleans can be a lot of fun. The controls for jumping, swinging, and climbing around the game's scenery are responsive and intuitive, and the city just looks flat-out great. Streets and corridors might be a bit narrower than what you're used to in this series, which sometimes can make fights against soldiers a bit of a pain (mostly due to camera placement), but I never felt anything but joy darting around the city like a bad ass assassin.

It seems to me at the least that his balance and priority is nothing like mine but then again I haven't picked it up yet and don't know how bad the parts he complains about actually are.

Still if it looks good, controls well and is fun then it seems like a must play for a vita/AC fan.

Okay, the point Alex was trying to make (one which I subscribe to) is you need to leverage the Vita's strengths in an appropriate way. What's "not such a great idea" is attempting to make a console-like game on the Vita, but leaving it half-baked because it's on the Vita. If you're going to do it, you have to do it right. I have not played AC3L so I can obviously speak in generalities alone, but it appears to be a game that was ambitious in the wrong ways, and failed due to the inherent limitations of the Vita. That's not a knock against the Vita or handhelds in general, but the design decisions made within the game.

It's ultimately just his opinion, however, and some may appreciate those decisions more than he.

That's the thing, he says that..but that wasn't what he complained about. I assume "inherent limitations" = not literally a ps3 in your hands..even though that wouldn't have affected the persona limits they enforce, nor the way the story was told..

Has anyone tried to buy anything off the psn store since the update? I can't seem to add any funds to my wallet. I'm just wondering if it's just me.
