Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

I was planning to go all retail, then I saw the prices of games in the UK. I also need to pay for the shipping, so going digital was my only choice (I have a US account by the way). I only bought Rayman and Ninja Gaiden from retail.

Has Sony announced anything for 2013 for the Vita? I am thinking about returning mine today and just sticking with my backlog on the PSP. Don't want to get stuck with a system that will get no games next year.

Soul Sacrifice, Tear away by Media Molecule. Kill zone Mercinaries. A whole slew of Japanese games. Sly 4 and probably Bends new game. ninja gaiden x rated sigma plus plus blood. That's all I remember. Hopefully they have megatons up their sleeves. Oh goodie.

Pretty much gone all physical, and dont really plan to get many digital games. The majority of games I play will be single player orientated, so I'll play them, and sell them once I'm done. Also as far as I'm aware, don't the carts have faster load times as well? I usually tend to only play one game at a time, so swapping games isn't a problem.

Only compared to small memory cards. The bigger the memory card, the faster it is. Also, I'm thinking that in two years time, memory cards may well be much bigger and faster again, and then I'll appreciate just being able to get my digital favorites on that one and enjoy the benefits again.

What with near challenges and so forth, I consider very many games multi-player and would hate to have to switch for many of them, but in general I can see many games can be played single player as well and don't have to be replayed a lot. I will still consider retail for games bigger than 1.6GB depending on how I expect to play them, but what with Vita's great integration with friend activities and such, I really like digital.

It is partly a financial luxury though. You're likely to be cheaper off for a while yet with a small memory card for save games and getting all releases on cart, saving the cost overhead of a bigger cart as well as being able to resell games you don't need.

Re next year: there will be plenty. But if you need the money for something else now, don't see anything on the horizon that you like, and have plenty of non-digital PSP games to play, then sure, you can always rebuy.

I've got a 32GB card. How would that compare to game carts in terms of speed?

Yeah I yet the Near stuff, but they usually give a week to collect them, so I just let them build up and do them at once.

fucking Frobisher Says. can't delete it. tried. it just froze my vita. restarted. got it corrupted. no image or anything. just a white circle.

Can't forget Dragon's Crown and Muramasa!

Why is it that Smart As and Frobisher Says, the seemingly innocuous brain/party games, are the ones wreaking the most havoc on people's Vitas. :V

What is a 'more handheld experience' anyway? I don't want bite sized stuff just because someone decides that's all a handheld should have. Not all of us are playing in 5 minute chunks between bus stops.

Having instant pause and resume means you can stop anywhere.

NFS is great for this and makes me wish I could unlock my 3G sim - the single player game is really enriched with autolog constantly showing friends times etc. same with motorstorm RC. MFS is a console experience but you can pick it up and put it down at any time.

For me at least, having bite-sized content isn't really what constitutes a good handheld game. To be as general as possible, games where a large part of the motivation to play is to experience the AV presentation are ones better suited for consoles. I play my handhelds at home too, most of the time, but usually I'm multitasking -- I'll be grinding in Pokemon or finishing a level in Rayman Origins while the TV's going on in the back and I'm checking GAF.

When I'm playing a game on consoles I pretty much have my focus channeled into doing this one thing, so I want it to be more of a sensory overload. There are tons of console games I'd rather play in a handheld format; many moreso than the number of handheld games I'd rather play on consoles. It's one of the reasons I'm super-excited about the Wii U, it pretty much will let me do both, whenever I want, for whichever games I want (well, usually).

Same for me. I was thinking about the limited compromises by having a vita and ps3 version of NFS. A WiiU version would be perfect assuming it has 'off TV' play. I usually play at home too

I'm gonna be a bit frank here so forgive me if I come across a bit rude

You made a couple of topics a while back asking whether to get a PSP or Vita. While there was no consensus if I recall, it was suggested where possible, get PSP games on PSN and only get UMD's where there is no PSN version. That was really because if you decided you liked the PSP, you could play the other games partially enhanced on Vita.

You decided to get them all on UMD since they were cheaper. That's fair enough and makes a lot of sense. But if it was a case of saving money, why'd you bother buying a Vita when you had such a large PSP backlog? If you are already considering selling the Vita, then
you must not have been very interested in it the first place. Really you should never have bought a Vita.

Honestly if you sell it for close to what you paid for it, I'd say do so. A lot of upcoming Vita game like Persona Golden, Ys Celceta and others have similar games on PSP. Play them first and if you like then, then you can consider them for Vita. It's why when you asked a few days ago whether to play Vita or PSP games, I recommended you to clear the backlog first.

You can always get a Vita later if you really want to play certain games. But at least make sure you want one instead of getting it a Vita and selling it a week later

Not rude at all. I know I have issues making decisions on this stuff. I bought the AC3 bundle on an impulse when I went in to buy AC3 on the PS3. Seemed like a good deal and the buy 2 get 1 free was going on. I did this knowing that if I did not like it I could just return it to Target.

I do like the Vita. The only thing that worries me are games comping in 2013 and 2014.

I know that I want to play Uncharted and Zero Escape for sure. Knowing what the PS+ for the Vita will be would be a big help. hopefully we will hear something next week.

Well, wait for the PS+ reveal and then decide whether that's enough for you to keep it or not. Really, though, it stinks that you bought all of those games on UMD, because had they been digital, I would have told you to throw that PSP out the door and keep the Vita. But how it is now, there's this huge backlog of games you have and only the PSP can play them, so that would probably be the one to keep. Of course, if you got a good deal on the Vita, and you don't NEED the money right now, then I see no reason whatsoever to get rid of the Vita, but that's just me. I don't really sell my games and systems unless I absolutely need the money, but I do know a lot of people will sell them just if they don't use them enough. I haven't turned my 3DS on in probably 3 or 4 months, but I still have it in case a game comes out I want to play. I mean, I already have the thing, so why not?

Mission accomplished

Now that Capcom's final Vita game has shipped, I believe this is the first platform I've owned in recent years where I don't own a single game published by them.

I'm planning to return favour and make sure that all capcom games I get in the future will be bought second hand ;)

For AC:L and NFS reviews, my rationale to justify the buy is the review score 17% less on the metacritic comparing with the PS3 versions and game price is 33% less of the PS3 version.

Is Near just random? I kean at first I thought it meant that a lot of people were buying Vita's, but now it looks like it just finds an extra 4 people every time I update it. I usually update every few hours, and it's gone from 52 to 88 over the course of 2 days. Adding 4 people each time

Mine was the same way, up until it hit about 112 over the course of 2 weeks and then after a day it was down to 7. I think near just kind of sucks.

me: i bought ac:l because i wanted to. i didn't buy nfs because i didn't want to. no reviews/math involved. weird, eh? :) ...

That has some merit, since it would be a no-brainier making the Trophy system universal. I could live without not seeing if anyone on my friends list is on a Vita (would be neat though). I'd put cross-game chat as top priority when it comes to PS3 updates.

sny pls

This has already been addressed I believe and they've said there is no way they can fathom getting cross-game chat shoe-horned into the PS3 firmware; you'll basically be waiting til PS4 on this one, if I recall correctly.

No, but they have no more announced and given it's Capcom, as well as the sales of the device it's easy to make that connection.

The SFxT DLC debacle will be a hell of a way for them to go out on a platform!

How do I delete stuff on the Vita...I downloaded a trailer for Hot Shots because since it was in the demo section, you know,I thougt it was a demo...

Just stopped in to say I love my Vita!!!! Something about playing a great assassins creed game and a near console version of Need for Speed game in the palm of my hands feels so good. Next game to get would be Call of Duty, hopefully Nihilistic doesn't fuck this up... Either way I love my Vita.

Eurogamer posted a love letter to the Vita today. Maybe it will change a few minds ...

But right now, that hardcore should embrace the Vita, and celebrate its many, many positive traits. This is a wonderful console with a slowly growing catalogue of wonderful games, and we should all enjoy it while it lasts - however long that'll be. The Vita's starting to earn its place alongside the Neo Geo Pocket as one of my favourite handheld devices - and it deserves a much more gracious fate than SNK's doomed console.

:)
