Simping is not a new term, nor is it "Twitter" language. I learned it in college when one of my roommates fell hard for this girl who was obviously playing him. They went out for like 8 months and she walked all over him and eventually cheated on him. Two of my other roommates would mercilessly call him out for being a simp. He learned his lesson.
